Feeling like a million bucks with his post-groom Hallowe'en hanky.

We were in the process of finding a boarding facility for our 1 year old Boston Terrier, Huey, and after some research and a recommendation from one his trainers, we were led to DogPlay. After his first daycare stay, to test the waters, we have definitely found our go-to place for boarding. I have never seen such a clean, organized, airy and well-kept pet facility. The prices are very reasonable, the boarding area looks cozy and warm, pretty much like your living room, and they do basic training to keep all the pups in order, and it shows. The environment was calm when it needed to be, and high-energy during play times. The best part about DogPlay are the owners and staff in general. When we came in, Huey was greeted by name by a handler we hadn't even met, but who had been expecting him. Danielle and Darryl do such a stellar job here, and they treat all the dogs like family. They take the time to get to know each dog on a deeper level, gaining understanding of their specific personality and idiosyncrasies, and not only is our training not undone, it's strengthened. When we dropped off Huey for the first time, he was whisked away by Darryl - and because of their previous visit together - Huey left without so much as a glance back at us. During the day, videos and photos were posted so we knew how he was doing, and when we picked him up, he came with a little report card recapping the events of the day. We are slightly overprotective :) of our pup, and would rather not go on vacation if the alternative was leaving him some place even slightly questionable. If you have spent some time researching pet daycares and boarding facilities in the city, you will really appreciate DogPlay.

He is anxious, and there were times he did not play appropriately with smaller dogs (he had too much energy, and he does not always recognize/respond to the other dog's body language of "please give me space." They gave me great feedback on how he was doing, but his trainer and I decided that daycare for my anxious dog would not let him be "his best self." I then transitioned him to their Woofer Walker Munchkin March pack walks, which is a much better fit for him. He gets to socialize with the other dogs in the pack walk, run himself silly, and sniff everything (animate and inanimate). Obi would walk over my dead body to get to Woofer Walker Judy! He is so excited when it is Woofer Walker day that he waits by the front door, staring at it until he hears the van pull up, and then loses his mind. Judy is very patient with his excitement. They let me know which days would be the best fit for him regarding the other dogs' personalities and play styles, so he goes every Tuesday and Thursday. They also post videos of some of the highlights of the walks and post pictures - it is the highlight of our evening to watch the videos! I've downloaded some of the images since they are great shots!

As I met more people, I had several people tell me about Woofer Walkers and decided to try them. My dog is always excited to go to daycare when we arrive. There were a couple of times when I had emergencies come up and the crew was always ready to receive Ali'i... they are always patient and understanding when things come up. One of the best places I STILL take Ali'i when I have to go away for the week or even just a day in daycare. Thanks to Bella, Justin, and crew for keeping our pups safe!

There are no formal policies for deposits, refunds, or cancellations--everything seems to change on a whim. Payments are demanded at random times and arbitrary dates, and the owner routinely contradicts herself depending on the situation. Ruby tragically passed away a week before our scheduled August stay, for which I had prepaid $800 in full. Despite the circumstances, Harman only offered a partial refund and has spent more than two months giving one excuse after another for why the payment still hasn't been returned. To make matters worse, in another Yelp response she herself stated that her policy is to refund clients if a trip is canceled--yet she refused to do the same for me after my young dog had just died. What started as a place I trusted to care for Ruby has turned into a deeply frustrating and disheartening experience. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic empathy is astounding. I strongly advise others to think twice before booking.

We have used both the daycare and boarding services with no issues at all, staff are very detail oriented, handle medication administration with such professionalism and our dog always comes back in great condition. Staff: The team here is responsive, responsible and always friendly. They have accommodated our many detailed requests in terms of medications, and feeding our dog. They are so patient as we are always experimenting with weird things like adding probiotics/different cooked food mixes, toppers etc. they label everything, and even return containers cleaned! Picture updates are provided (although I wish there were some videos because we are so curious what our doggo gets up to while we are away). Honestly we have never had a bad interaction with anyone on the team. Space: They do split dogs between larger sized breeds and smaller, and the space is absolutely gorgeous, clearly designed with dogs in mind. Take a tour and see for yourself! Dogs are not left alone overnight. There is staff at all times and this was a big draw for why we chose Rex for boarding. There is also outdoor space complete with water activities and things to play with- again another reason we chose Rex. it can be difficult to find a daycare that offers outdoor space in Vancouver! It is also worth mentioning my doggo has never been returned to us with any cleanliness issues. I will note if your dog doesnt like sleeping in an open group environment you might need to pay a bit more for a more private sleeping format. Pricing:Pricing has always been very transparent. You can look on the website and find it listed clearly. I think it's comparable to similar facilities. There are some surcharges for boarding at peak times (ie. $15/night for Christmas) but I think thats understandable. In addition there are fees for medication administration (5 bucks/day) and a deposit (that goes towards your booking) to reserve boarding over stat holidays, but these have always been clear upfront, and staff are responsive to emails/happy to provide quotes before booking so you know exactly what to expect. We don't find the pricing to be unreasonable or ever a surprise although we haven't jumped on the daycare club card discount they offer ($390 for 10 full days) just because it can be lot up of upfront cost for a total 10 dollar discount minimum. However, it's worth noting club cards have no expiry and are totally refundable and likely make sense for other people who maybe take their doggo more regularly than us. Honestly, we once bought a half day card and totally forgot we had it! We were reminded by diligent staff! Most importantly:When we bring our doggo he is always excited and just immediately runs to the staff who are there to greet him. We think he truly adores the staff and his furry friends at Rex. We honestly have no complaints! I'm sure each dog is different so we can only speak to our own experience, but Rex has been great for us so far. If you are considering this place I'd say you really have got nothing to lose checking them out!

He was hunched over and shaking and barely able to walk! One night with them and we had a crippled dog and had to see a vet to get medication for pain. When we phoned to find out what had happened, Ken's response was that it's because our dog runs funny. He asked if we'd rather our dog just sit in the house with them? YES, I would!! I'd rather they follow our instructions as we know our dog best. He said that would be neglect. Really? NOT seeking medical attention with an injured pet in your care is NEGLECT! Injury that he caused. That's NEGLECT!! I think it only fair that they pay the vet bill and refund the boarding fee, but they don't respond by phone or email. Very rude and refuse accountability for their actions and neglect. I am shocked and angry that they allowed an animal to be in pain through a whole night. Inexcusable.
