My first visit was with an oncologist, which was supposed to be billed through the Veterans Administration (VA). Even though staff interviewed me and took all my information, they mistakenly billed my personal insurance instead. I had to go to the billing center in person to fix it, where I met Jennifer E. She was fantastic--she listened, made a phone call, and corrected the setup for VA billing, assuring me it wouldn't happen again. However, I recently returned for a sleep study, and despite assurances that the billing was set up correctly, the exact same mistake happened again. I had to return to the billing center, but fortunately, Jennifer was there. Within minutes, she resolved everything. Jennifer E. seems to be the only person in that department who truly understands VA claims. She is so skilled that she should retrain the rest of the staff. Jennifer went out of her way twice to fix errors that other employees created in the system. While she provides a first-class experience, patients shouldn't have to repeatedly correct the hospital's mistakes.

At Glenbrook mammography was so very kind doing my mammogram. She smiled, apologized for being late, helped me in all ways possible and kept encouraging me I was doing a great job. She was such a sweetheart after a long wait, I hugged her and she made me smile. On my way out, I asked for help at the reception desk as I parked at the wrong entrance and got quite lost going into the hospital. Laurie K. Was so nice! She even took time to walk me out and walk me all the way to the easiest exit to where my car was parked! I also got a hug from her so as I made my long walk back to my car, I smiled all the way! They both told me they could call someone to help me leave but I declined that. I have severe leg neuropathy so walking is difficult and painful. It's so wonderful when a smile, some encouragement and...a hug can turn a bad experience into a good one! I would give the ER team and hospitalist (Dr. Osa) 5 stars without hesitation. They were attentive,…read morecompassionate, and truly listened. Dr. Osa, in particular, demonstrated exceptional ownership of my son's care, from ensuring we understood the findings, to coordinating next steps, to making sure discharge and follow-up were handled appropriately. Even after our visit, his follow-up has been thorough and deeply appreciated. His level of care made a meaningful difference in a very stressful situation. He was excellent in all the ways you would hope a physician shows up. Competent. Clear. Communicative. Caring. Unfortunately, our overall experience was overshadowed by serious concerns with the neurology care we received. Dr. Mary Young was dismissive of our concerns from the start and attributed my son's symptoms to behavioral causes, despite us clearly explaining that this was not his baseline and was entirely new. In the room, we corrected statements that did not reflect what we were seeing, and those concerns were not meaningfully incorporated into the assessment - despite us repeatedly saying "actually that's not what's happening." The interaction felt rushed and dismissive, and we never heard from her again. One example: the medical record, documented by Dr. Young, stated that my son had returned to baseline. This was not accurate and did not reflect what we were reporting in real time. A suspected diagnosis was also documented that did not align with the reason for evaluation or the symptoms we described and frankly, that she is unqualified to make. (Outside of her speciality and had not been noted by anyone my son has ever seen). We had to advocate multiple times for appropriate imaging. During this process, Dr. Young said "tests are expensive," which was difficult to reconcile given the clinical situation. When imaging was eventually completed, it revealed findings that required follow-up. However, these results were not communicated to us directly by Dr. Young. Instead, notes were placed in the chart for follow-up after discharge. It was Dr. Osa who connected with us, explained the findings, and ensured we understood next steps. He was operating under the assumption that Dr Young had called to explain more deeply. When we said she had not he paused then worked to explain himself and said he would help us find a neurologist to follow up with. Truly caring and (from our seat) working hard to bridge a significant gap left by Dr Young. After appropriate follow-up, it became clear that my son's condition involved serious findings that required attention, issues that could have been missed had we accepted the initial assessment from Dr Young. It was clear to us at the time that she was missing key information and this became clear. In terms of our time at the hospital, the nursing staff appeared significantly overextended. While the nursing assistants were kind and helpful, there were repeated instances where we waited extended periods, often well over two hours after using the call button, before receiving assistance from a nurse. This was consistent throughout our stay. This is particularly concerning in light of the hospital's policy restricting overnight support persons. We were initially not allowed to stay with our son, despite him being confused and vulnerable, and had to advocate strongly to remain. Without a support person present, delays in response time raise serious concerns about patient safety and patient rights. The fact we had to advocate so strongly to be heard added to the stress of the situation. While there are clearly excellent physicians here, Dr. Osa being one of them, our experience highlighted significant gaps in listening, documentation, communication, and patient support that had real implications for care. We live blocks from this hospital but will likely drive to another health care system. Dr Osa is a world class physician. If anyone from Endeavor is listening: he's working in a tough system with low support. He is a difference maker. Honor him. And Dr Young creates risks for your hospital. I would not dismiss this feedback. If you're a patient and are healthy enough to go a little farther, and suspect you have something more serious that might require a specialist, head to one of our excellent teaching hospitals in the Chicagoland area. If your challenges can be addressed by a general physician, Glenbrook is a good option because the ER docs and hospitalist were great.

Since Endeavor bought Northwest Community Hospital some things have changed. Since the purchase,…read moreI've used their lab and their emergency room. There have really been no changes to their lab. You can walk in with lab orders and they will take you in the order of check-in time. Their phlebotomists are good, and results come in quickly. As for the ER, they seem to have a lower staffing level. I think part of this is I heard they are no longer a trauma center. If that is the case, I understand their reduction in staff. As with most ERs, wait times can be outrageous. I brought someone in who was in terrible pain - 10 out of 10 on their scale. How much pain you are in doesn't seem to matter in their triage. We waited a very long time before we were finally taken back. Once in an ER room, the service was outstanding. The quality of the nurses and the ER doctor were top notch. When we left, the medical issue was resolved, and although it is cliche, we had service with a smile. Aside from the wait time in the ER, Endeavor seems to have kept the quality of care up to par.

I had to go to the ER and had a wonderful experience. I was in a lot of pain. When I explained the…read moreissue as I was checking in, they said they would take me as soon as they could. Within 15 minutes they took me back into an area that isn't normally an ER room, but explained they use this cordoned off corner for emergency. They started an IV which was almost painless. A quick dose of pain meds and I was feeling much better. A quick CT Scan which revealed something that wasn't worrisome and kept me there until I was able to handle the pain without intervention. They gave me very clear instructions for what I needed to do, and placed orders for some more tests. When I left the hospital I was feeling much better and knew we had a plan in place. Also, my doctor does not have privileges at this hospital. Even so, they kept him informed while I was there, and sent him their notes by the end of the day. We've been using NW Community Hospital (now part of Endeavor) for over 40 years. Both our kids were born there. Honestly, other than long waits for the ER at times, we've never had a bad experience here.

It got worse. On 2/4/24 I end up in the ambulance and taken to C1 (one of the big sick bays) ended up staying inpatient for three days with RSV bronchiolitis. Respiratory therapy services is what really won this rating. Then the nurses and care technicians and doctors in that order. The reason I put the doctors at the bottom of the stack is you only see them but once a day if you're lucky. It would be nice if physicians made a morning and evening stop to discuss the days labs and days results of tests. The hospital is a bit aged in terms of facilities but modernization has been done on vital equipment. Don't expect a digital thermostat in your room. Expect it to take a day of fiddling back and forth to get it set right. Other than that there's nothing to complain about on the inpatient unit. They make sure people get a good nights sleep with proper medication if needed. They also make sure room areas are quiet at night and lights are dimmed. Pro advice: bring a sleep mask either way! They randomly will go full brightness if there's a code blue in the middle of the night. They also go full brightness way too early for anyone to logically wake up. Earplugs are not necessary but probably best pack a pair just in case. Overall if I have to be inpatient at a hospital this is one of the ones I'd rather be in.

The level of care provided to her (and us) is above and beyond my expectations. Everyone is so caring and helpful. The doctors meet every few hours and discuss the improvements/risks of ech baby here. They ask parents if they'd like to sit in on the meetings. Every step and process is explained. While my daughter must continue to remain in the NICU I'm confident that she will receive the best possible care.

In labor and delivery, the nurse told us that the facility was recently updated. All the medical equipment was new, and the fetal monitor they used was even wireless. The only slight hiccup was that there was nearly no room in postpartum care. Fortunately, we got the last room in the overflow floor. Having giving birth in another state, I was extremely impressed by how updated everything was in the overflow room - the shower was brand new, and the bed could be operated to lengthen or sit at various angles. For pain management, I was a little surprised that their policy is to give ibuprofen only upon request. At the previous hospital I was at, they had a regimen switching between Tylenol and ibuprofen. Parking was probably the most difficult part. The main parking lot is a little far, and you have to use a different entrance if you're coming in the evening (rather than the main entrance of the women's hospital). However, when we left, my partner was able to temporarily park in the rotunda to make the commute a little shorter.

I got so lost just trying to park and find a level to cross over to the hospital entrance. Make sure you go to ground level and make your way over to the entrance. Nurses and doctors are great. Also there's a hallway connecting the main hospital to the cancer center so you don't have to leave the parking lot to go there. Part of the maze that's not as bad. Parking is $4 on the Kellogg side for up to 6hrs the. It jumps to $20! If you're on the Kellogg side, you can get a parking sticker which reduces it back to $4. On the hospital side I don't think you can get a sticker so we'll be paying $20! If you're in the Evanston area then this is a good hospital option. If not, it's not worth driving from far away.
