I found Aegis a few years ago in some list of best travel insurances and have used them at least once (too hard to figure out who I used for prior trips) for a trip longer than 30 days also because wanted to make sure to have medical evacuation coverage because (conditions not covered by the free travel coverage under my travel Visa card. This time I wanted an answer to a specific question. What happens if lack of crew delays one flight and I miss my next. I don't like the answer but I think it's true for all or most travel insurance companies. The situation is only covered if the delay was caused by ticket, weather or mechanical labor strike so lack of crew does not count and I would have to buy an expensive replacement ticket at the last minute. However, Elizabeth, the agent I was speaking with, had I forget how many, but a lot, of years and was also very smart. I started asking all kinds of other questions and hypotheticals. She patiently and intelligently educated me on all the ins and outs of travel insurance including how to better differentiate and deploy their coverage in conjunction with the credit card coverage. A second aside is that long ago in my career I developed travel agency management and later insurance estimation software so this was a thorough exploration. So a five star review review for Elizabeth and maybe also for Aegis... depending on what I find out while hunting for travel insurance that does cover all the flaky reasons flights are canceled nowadays that can cause me to have to buy a last minute ticket out of pocket. read more

I received your explanation letter after my home was damaged by the remains of Hurricane Beryl came through my area. we had 60-80 mph winds, 6 inches of rain in an hour and standing water up to your hips in this area. I was called by Joy In Ohio and my claim was denied. Your inspector stated on his report that 9 shingle caps or shingles were missing, the roof looked over 10yrs old etc.... I did what Joy said I had a contractor come look at the damage inside, then outside for damage. He took me on the roof. I don't know what your adjuster saw but nothing with shingles or shingle caps were missing. I then had a structural Engineer from the Township look at the damage inside of the home. He stated 5 houses in the same row west to east had the same damage, and he believed it was a downburst of air pushing down on the houses causing the trusses to push into the ceiling. I told Your company this and they didn't care that my home was 4th in the line of 5 that were damaged. Just FYI the others have been fixed by their insurance companies. My roof was stripped and replaced with all good wood and new shingles in 2018. I have already canceled your crappy 1 star insurance, and let every social media outlet I could know your practices, along with the Better Business Bureau. I went with one of the homes that was also damaged by the same storm insurance companies! This letter is just to let you know Your 1 star rating that is on social media has been supported by myself. I haven't missed a payment in years and when hurricane Helene came they said my policy lapsed two weeks earlier even though they told me my payment wasn't due until September 29th. This is a terrible company. They made me jump through a bunch of hoops just to get a home owners insurance policy and then CANCELLED it only 2 months after it was put in place. I paid for the full year of coverage and now have to scramble to get new coverage in 3 weeks. The explanation they gave for cancelling was because tree's overhang the house, which isn't true and nobody ever asked us to trim any trees. They also said we "didn't verify the mailing address", which we were never asked to do. We live in California and they used these terrible excuses to drop the coverage. If I could give zero stars I would and here's why. I bought a refrigerator with the water/ice dispenser. It broke down and had to be repaired and I left town to go back to my apartment in the city where I worked. For 6 weeks, the fridge leaked into my mobile home causing nearly 40,000 worth of damage to my home. I had no choice but to file a homeowners claim. And this joke of an insurance company cut me a check for 6,000. I called them and complained that it wouldn't cover half of the materials, let alone any of the labor. Hence, the 40,000 to make my home whole again..then they sent another check for 7,000, leaving me with a 26,000 deficit. Then they said they didn't owe to match, meaning I'd have to have mismatched cabinets in my kitchen. Now, let's discuss the mold. This company never once told me that I'd have to get a different rider for mold. Not until I needed it and didn't have it, so there's another kick in the face. Then the subflooring which inwas told is now, unsafe and needs to be replaced due to water, and then the weather membrane under the house which was cut to let the water drain, which the $ they sent me could only cover that. Now, I'm still trying to get that mess sorted out and my neighborhood was hit by a tornado. They sent some clown out to look at my roof which according to the estimate I got, many of my shingles were torn off, there is a ton of hail damage and the skirting is missing in a large section of my house. This ridiculous company sent me a check for 784, and change and said 1 (ONE) shingle was missing. As soon as I get these issues ironed out, and it may take the ILLINOIS INSURANCE COMMISSION in Springfield to make that happen, I'm dumping this shity, ass nasty, dishonest, wretched (I certainly wouldn't call it) insurance company. What is the purpose of having insurance if they don't pay for the damages that happen? I'd be better off putting my premiums in the bank and using that for repairs! These people are not worth the time it took to write this. They rip you off and should never be used. ​ Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from this company. I purchased a complicated multi-unit property in Reno last fall that needed both landlord homeowner policies and flood insurance policies. Terrible experience. Buyer beware. Needed insurance for new home purchase in TD. Took 5 days to get back to us with a quote, but so many others wouldn't insure us, so we went with it. When completing the application form questionnaire the agent told us to indicate the property was not in a wooded area, even though it clearly is. We refused to answer the question untruthfully, and submitted the form. 6 week's later we got a letter for the underwriter informing us they were cancelling our policy as it wasn't eligible for the type of policy written. Called the agent, but she has ignored our voicemails messages and hasn't been heard from since. Disgraceful!. read more
