I am 10 years old and spent this summer at Camp Scully, and it was a massive disappointment. If you…read morewant your kid to sit around doing literal nothing with broken equipment all day, this is the place for you. Here is what a "typical day" actually looks like: * The "Do Nothing" Woods Trip: They march you into the woods to sit there and do nothing. The "challenge course" features a broken giant timber seesaw and a dangerous stand-up swing that almost launches you directly into a tree trunk. You have to be on high alert instead of having fun. * Useless Sports Areas: The Gaga pit has no ball. The Nine Square court has a completely deflated ball. The basketball court has a half-blown-up ball that won't bounce, and they constantly run out of kickballs because the field is close enough to the lake where you can kick it over the fence with no netting to stop them from rolling in. * Awful Supervision: They brag about "extreme supervision," but older kids constantly wander in and completely take over the Gaga pit when they are supposed to be somewhere else. They also do that with basketball games and Gaga, counselors do nothing to stop it. * Miserable Scheduling: Mondays start with a swim test where they make you sit in the blazing hot sun for an hour with zero shade or activities while they slowly test groups one by one. * Closed Activities: Archery 1 was open exactly once all summer. Archery 2 is always closed because counselors don't want to walk that far back into the woods. The only good parts of the entire day are the weekly kayaking and the Snack Shack. Everything else is broken, boring, or lazy. I am moving to a YMCA travel camp next year and cannot wait to leave this place behind. Save your money.

Not very welcoming. much much better camps out there! The owner is not nice, especially to parents…read more Very secretive. Won't share pictures and won't give you a schedule or menu. The lake is not on campus the kids need to take a van there. Big public road running through the camp. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!!!! They are not inclusive for all children.

It has taken me almost 2 years to write this review. I did not want to tarnish a camps reputation…read morebased on our horrible experience in the summer of 2021. I was made to believe that this was really just "my kid". Since 2021, I have heard many stories that are the exact same as ours, just yesterday another one of my sisters friends had the SAME experience. I feel obligated to share. My son went to Schodack in the summer of 2021 and will never try another sleepaway camp as he is truly scarred (as are we as parents). He is missing this beautiful opportunity because Schodack is ill equipped to handle children. To sum it up, the directors and owners called me at least 3 DAYS A WEEK to tell me my child was sad, homesick, "emotionally distressed" and that this was not normal. I was under the impression homesickness was normal for a first time camper (I was homesick when I first went to sleepaway). Regardless, after a couple of weeks (he was only there for 3 and 1/2), they asked that I COME AND GET HIM because his "sadness wasn't good for the other children. Since that summer I have heard from numerous families through friends of friends that have too said the owners called them and asked them to also PICK UP THEIR HOMESICK CHILDREN! I have never heard of such a thing and feel truly sad that my son missed out on what could have been a great experience, he will never give sleepaway another try after his awful Schodack experience. Terrible Directors & Terrible Owners. I do NOT recommend sending your children here.
