From…read morebeginning to end, our points of contact, Avi & Joseph have gone above and beyond for our project, walking us through the planning phases, permitting, design, construction and finishing work of the renovation. They were able to make a normally very stressful process almost stress-free, so much so that all I had to do was say "yes or no" when it came to key decisions. The Construction & More team took lead in the painful parts of dealing with permitting, PG&E, and subcontractors. They also got us in contact with their preferred vendors to help us with discounts on appliances, finishes and other materials we needed to purchase out of pocket. Overall, I found the Construction & More team extremely professional, transparent, organized, communicative and punctual when it came to the end-to-end process. They truly helped guide us through the process so we didn't have any surprises and helped us navigate any hiccups that came up. Normally, construction companies get a bad rap of being dishonest and trying to add in hidden fees and such, but Construction & More is a truly forthcoming and hardworking group of contractors who have your best interest at heart when it comes to your project no matter how big or small. For the process itself, we began with a consultation at our home to walk through the work we wanted the Construction & More team to do. For us, it was a full renovation which included removing a kitchen wall to create an open concept kitchen & living room, adding a mud room, expanding the master bedroom, moving the front and garage doors, as well as moving the ceilings to create a more open space. After the consultation was completed, we met with Avi & Joseph at their office to discuss an estimate and timeline for the work we needed done about (6-months time, pending no delays). Avi & Joseph respected our budget and were upfront and honest of how to stay within the budget and what were non-negotiables that we needed to get done. They really helped us understand what work was critical and what were nice to have to make our living space better. Once we agreed on the work, they promptly sent over a contract for signature, created a whatsapp group for real time communication, and next steps. Overall this initial process took about a week after negotiations and contract reviews. Once construction began, the team coordinated all the work. They made sure that all moving parts were well executed while setting a realistic timeline for the work to be done. All the subcontractors and tradesmen were effectively scheduled, where there wasn't a single day where there was no work being done. I felt that the team ensured that the construction was moving swiftly and the crew was respectful of our space. The crew made sure that our home was properly locked up and cleaned up after each day's work. Additionally, all the detailed finishing work was measured and completed with precision, where all the tiles placed were measured with a laser. As a bonus, the crew was also super respectful to our neighbors which is an extra plus! If you're considering a renovation of any size, but especially a full home renovation, I could not rave more about Construction & More. Ron completed a kitchen remodel for us about a month ago, and we are so happy with his work! It…read morefeels like a completely new space, even though we didn't move any walls. We kept the sink and the stove in the same places, but changed pretty much EVERYthing else. It was a three month long project, and with the wrong contractor it could have been torturous. We moved the fridge and the dishwasher and the oven; put in all new cabinets, counters, backsplash, and flooring; knocked the wall to the dining room down to a half-height wall; put a window cut-out in another wall; made one exterior window smaller to fit cabinets underneath it; upgrade the ceiling lights and added under-cabinet lights; and took out a false ceiling that had loomed over half the room. We now have so much cabinet space that we haven't even filled it all, even though we got rid of a china cabinet and a sideboard that we had needed for storage before. And all the counter space is a dream come true! Throughout the process Ron was very communicative on the work he was doing, what was coming next, and how things were progressing overall. He checked in when he had questions, and offered suggestions and advice--but also listened to what we wanted. He texted us for smaller matters and called when he needed to discuss bigger ones, or met with us at the house before he started work for the day. He worked well with the city's building department to manage the permits and inspections. He also managed the sub-contractors (we had to upgrade both the electrical and plumbing), and sought out better prices for us on materials without cutting corners. He has a great eye for detail, and is meticulous in his work. He made sure we were happy with each stage of the work, and that we understood the decisions and trade-offs to be made along the way. I would highly recommend Ron, and we will definitely hire him again when we tackle future remodel projects.

Ron listened to my requirements, and offered useful suggestions. Him and his colleague worked diligently, and paid a lot of attention to detail. The project took as long as Ron said it was going to take. Ron communicated well throughout the process, keeping us updated on the progress, asking questions in moments of ambiguity, but not overwhelming me with minor details. Overall, I'm very happy with Ron's execution, and would hire him again for future projects.

The pace of the job was very smooth right off the bat and only picked up once the work started. During the design phase the team including Liane were very pleasant to work with. Liane was extremely patient and helpful while she met us at two design stores to assist us in choosing colors and layouts. Once the work started, we were very impressed with the site prep as Eli delivered on keeping as much dust out of the the rest of the house. He made sure crew setup plastic sheeting throughout the whole bottom floor with zipper doors included so we could still access the living room and upstairs. From here, we were very pleased with the pace of things. Eli and his team are very eager to work and do not make you wait. The demo happened very quickly and before we knew it we were moving very quickly through rough electrical and plumbing. The rest of the job went very smoothly and ended up being ahead of schedule. At any time if something was not right, Eli was very open to our suggestions and critiques and always made sure his crew fixed the issue. Once the work was done Eli was very responsive and always made sure any minor issues/details were address and fixed.

The Great (+2 stars) ==========…read more * The structural work: Our home is on a great, new, solid foundation (with shear walls), so we feel as safe as we can be in our home for an earthquake! * Our basement is also now more usable. * Drainage: There is now drainage around the foundation and under the basement slab, so we are no longer worried about our basement flooding! * The working crew were very friendly and considerate. The Bad (-1 star): ========== * The electrical subcontractor was quite bad. The electricians didn't install the dryer outlet properly (one conductor came loose before I first used it), most outlets they installed are loose (they give when pushing in a plug), and they installed a used, old (not LED compatible) dimmer for the LED lights they installed. Also, the owner yelled at his team a lot. * The plumbing subcontractor was bad, too. They misdrilled several holes, damaging the interior of the home. They didn't seal around exterior penetrations into the house. They didn't put a cover over the branch of a wye that was no longer needed. They wouldn't do anything about the loss of hot water pressure in a bathroom faucet that occurred after they moved some plumbing around (I ended up having to disconnect and disassemble the hot water valve myself and I found a piece of silicone clogged in there). They over-glued the drain of the laundry supply box making it nearly impossible to remove the cap, and they lost the o-rings on my faucet aerator. The Ugly (-2 stars): ========== * They overlooked details in the plans about where walls and doors should go, and denied responsibility since they weren't in the structural engineer's plans, which they opted to not have updated with the revisions I told them about. This lead to a sewer pipe being installed in an inconvenient location (it went through the foundation, so it can't be moved), a structural wall that was almost built in the wrong place (I caught it while they were digging the footing), and a room that was built with no doorway (they had to cut some framing to make the opening). * The pricing/scope was negligent at best, but I'd put it closer to misleading or deceptive. During the initial visits, they talked about all the things they would do (including putting up framing, drywall, and insulation), and then sent over an estimate that I accepted. I didn't realize until halfway through the project that the estimate didn't include many of the things they talked about (including the framing, drywall, and insulation); those apparently would be part of "Phase 2," not included in the price of the first estimate. I had chosen E&F over another estimate that was less expensive even though it did explicitly contain the "additional" scope. I was also surprised that the electrical and plumbing (most of which was necessary to get them out of the way for the structural work) was billed separately; i.e., an unexpected additional expense. * They chose to rebuild a segment of stairs (rather than just adding two steps at the bottom, per the plans), which ended up having insufficient clearance with an overhang halfway down. They tried to convince me there was no new problem because they built them the same as before (but the run of the new stairs was one inch longer, causing the 4th step down to be 4 inches closer to the overhang) and resisted remedying the issue. They just ended up taking a sawzall to trim the overhang -- a joist -- which I just have to hope doesn't compromise any structural integrity! Further, they didn't even finish the stairs (sand and seal); "Test your staining skills," they said. * They ghosted before Phase 2. As the structural work was reaching completion, we were going back and forth on scope for Phase 2. However, when the structural work was actually completed, they just stopped communicating, left dirt and demo debris they left on our driveway for a month, then disappeared. There were lots of things they removed to get out of the way (like several segments of fence) but didn't put back. I could easily add 3x more issues and details, but this review is already too long.

Just moved into my house and am just floored by the incredible work done by the team at Greenberg!…read moreI was originally skeptical of such a major remodel - every friend had horror stories of contactors doing sub par work, disappearing, completely, etc. I was really glad to work with Ohad, our project manager for the project. He'd worked with one of our friends previously, and so we knew he'd do a great job for our project. We also loved Greenberg's integrated approach. The architect, constructions, design and management was all done by Greenberg. This meant that the project from top to bottom was aligned with the team actually doing the construction work. My top priorities were 1) a modern home design 2) a job done with high quality 3) low stress. Ohad / Greenberg helped deliver on all of these aspects in spades. The last thing I wanted to do was have to coordinate with flaky contractors, have to re-do low quality work after a long day at work. Ohad kept the project on track and handled all the hassle of dealing with subcontractors & inspectors. Greenberg probably won't be the cheapest contractor you'll talk to, but as the saying goes - you get what you pay for. Quality work, up to code, and no drama is well worth the cost. Ohad worked with us throughout the project to consider different budget options, and gave candid advice about where he thought the budget would be best spent. Overall, highly recommend. I was referred by a friend and have put multiple friends in touch with Greenberg for their projects as well. Everyone is floored by house nice our remodel turned out and will 100% be in touch in the future for any future projects we have.

When I visited the Greenberg showroom, the team presented their design with all my samples ready to view in-person. The logistical side was equally impressive. They handled the entire San Mateo permitting process. Once construction began, Ohad and I stayed in constant contact via text and phone to address any issues or decisions that needed to be made. He also kept me up to date with many photos of the construction. Everyone warned me that a project like this would take well over a year and go way over budget, but Greenberg completed construction in just 10 months and kept change orders to a minimum. I had such confidence in Ohad's attention to detail that I didn't even visit the site until the project was almost finished. The result is a total transformation that maximizes every square foot of my home without the need for a massive addition.
