In 2020, I saw Dr. Mark Pita at AFC PriMed Eastchase in Montgomery for serious back pain after long work shifts. He never introduced himself and flinched when I lifted my shirt to show a dip on my left side--something no patient should ever see from a doctor. He briefly examined me and sent me for an X-ray. When he returned, he told me I had scoliosis in the coldest, most robotic tone possible. No sympathy, no explanation, no help, just, "Scoliosis is something people have to live with." When I began to break down emotionally, scared and overwhelmed, he showed zero concern. He never looked me in the eyes, and when I asked about yoga, physical therapy, or treatments, he bobbled his head repeatedly like he wasn't listening, clearly annoyed that I was even asking. It felt like I wasn't worth his time. He prescribed muscle relaxers and left. Later, I returned to him at the AFC Taylor Crossing location (after having to track him down) to get unemployment paperwork signed. Instead of offering understanding, he questioned why I quit my job and said, "I have patients with scoliosis who can work just fine," completely ignoring my worsening condition. He scribbled a note saying I could work as long as I didn't lift over 30 pounds, which blocked my unemployment and again, dismissed my pain. A second doctor later told me that if I had stayed at my job, I could have become paralyzed or needed emergency surgery. Dr. Pita failed me. I felt stereotyped as a lazy Black man trying to avoid work instead of being seen as a human being who needed help. His attitude was cold, careless, and emotionally harmful. Please, be cautious if you're considering him for care. Patients deserve to be treated with compassion, not indifference. Dr. Pita's body language said it all. Throughout both visits, he avoided direct eye contact, barely spoke to me, and constantly bobbled his head while I tried to voice real concerns about my condition and future. It felt like I was being brushed off for simply advocating for my health. I wasn't being dramatic. I was a young man trying to understand a painful spinal condition that had the potential to affect me for life. Instead of empathy, I was met with cold detachment and annoyance. At no point did he explain what Scoliosis actually was, how it worked, what treatments were available, or how serious my case might be. He never mentioned whether I should seek physical therapy, use a brace, get imaging done with a specialist, or even how to manage pain safely. I had to beg for answers, and all I got was a half-hearted response that I "could try yoga." There was no follow-up, no referral, and no concern for my long-term health. After being dismissed at my first visit, I was already feeling ashamed and lost. Then having to go back and practically plead with the same doctor for documentation to help protect my health and livelihood was even worse. It's one thing to be ignored -- it's another to be looked at like you're faking or trying to take advantage of the system. That's how I felt how he treated me: not like a patient, but like a problem he wanted out of the room. What's most disturbing is that his poor judgment and lack of care directly influenced decisions about my ability to survive financially. He wrote down that I could still work, which led to me being denied unemployment -- even though another doctor later told me I was at risk of permanent damage. I was told I made the right call by leaving that job when I did. If I had listened to Dr. Pita, I might've been seriously injured or worse. As a young Black man, I can't ignore the racial and class dynamics at play here. I came in wearing my work uniform, clearly exhausted and in pain. From the way I was treated, it felt like I was viewed as just another Black man trying to get out of work, rather than someone in genuine need of help. That unspoken bias is what makes the emotional damage cut even deeper. People like me are already less likely to be believed in medical settings, and this experience only reinforced that fear. I don't take writing reviews like this lightly. I've held this in for years, but I can't stay silent knowing someone else might go through what I did. No patient should ever feel belittled, dismissed, or treated like their pain doesn't matter. If even one person reconsiders trusting Dr. Pita with their care because of this review, then sharing my story was worth it. I highly recommend finding a REAL doctor who will take your concerns seriously, communicate clearly, and treat you like a person, not a burden. read more

They might want to inform their NP at Taylor Crossing that there is a difference being being "blunt" and being rude, unprofessional and disrespectful. Even if one day she manages to get an MD after her name, it will still not give her the right to speak to Anyone way. Clients do not go there for help expecting to be Scolded like children or their complaints mimicked back at them during those scoldings. I will Never go back there again nor will I ever recommend that facility. I chose to go to that one despite there being one right across the street from my home because I had been there before years ago and it was not like this. I left work last Monday with a mild fever and went to AFC on Taylor Road, they told me I tested negative for the Flu, and due to that they would test for the Coronavirus just in case. They suggested I self quarantine until results come back. Ive called almost everyday since Wednesday and I called yesterday and they said I was actually positive for the Flu and don't see how it was missed while I was there ‍ I always take Vitamin C, boil orange peels and drink hot lemon tea anytime I have a fever and anytime the Flu starts to go around anyway.. so I did that and I'm glad I did, I'm sure the Flu ran its course and I'm certain I sweat it out with the tea each night. I just give God praise that he put it in my mind to treat the situation as if I was sick. (I was) I feel fine and I'm taking some medication they called in for the Flu yesterday.. (I don't see the point of it now) but I'm taking it.. I think his name is.. Dr. Davis that was the doctor on duty that misdiagnosed me! I do understand with everything going on for doctors to also be aware, but his bedside manner was awful.. he was more ready to leave the room with me that he didn't even diagnose me correctly! Been coming to this location for years, back when it was just primed. They do take my insurance BCBS, you should probably call ahead and see if they take yours. I've even brought my 7 year old here on one weekend when I thought her toe might be broken. It's nice to have a place to go that's not the emergency room and the wait isn't long at all. Of course you should always follow up with your GP. The waiting area hasn't changed at all. The staff is usually nice, friendly, and professional. read more

DO NOT GO FOR CORONAVIRUS TEST HERE! No appointments. We sat in car for over an hour then sat in waiting room for 1/2 hr (despite request we stay in car) When taken back FORCED to have full medical history and doctors appointment - only came for coronavirus swab. After that Waited over 1 1/2 hrs in room for swab. insurance charged for doctors appointment. Other AFC's waiting room are closed and no BS about required doctors visit or Waiting in a room for hrs!!! Doing it for the $$$$$. Understaffed. Test returned in 5-7 days. read more

Pretty nice location. The wait isn't usually too long and the doctor/nurse were friendly and really kind in helping me during my visit. The receptionist is really kind and friendly, too. Little things like that really help when you are feeling ill and just want to get a doctors appt over with. read more

It really seems like horrible customer service to require a co-pay before services are rendered. You verified my insurance so you think I'm going to run out of here after the service and not pay $30. Long waits and sparce feedback for even the simplest of problems

This PriMed location has been here for as long as I can remember. But since I grew up and moved away, it's been years since I've visited this location. Within the last 4 years or so, there's been a facelift at this place. It's now 24/7 and check in is with a fancy touch-screen monitor where you entered in all your info. I came in here with my dad because he has severe allergy and is in need of a prescription and a shot in the hip. Granted we arrived at 6:30p on a Saturday, but really? Only ONE doctor and 2 assistants seem pretty ridiculous... which led to a room full of sick people waiting to see him. It was the worst experience I've ever had at any medical-related institution. It took us 2.5 hours waiting in the reception area before we got seated to a room, and after that, another hour before we were done and ready to go. Guess how long the doctor saw my dad for? Two minutes. Yep. I looked at my watch and counted the seconds while the creepy white hair doc who thinks he's "too slick cos he is a doctor" was checking me out while examining my dad. Needless to say, the prescription he gave my dad was awful and not what he needed, and it was just a big waste of money and 4 hours of our time that we cannot get back. Oh and while we were there, there was a woman on the verge of fainting (why she chose to come to PriMed instead of the ER I do not know, but whatever) and obviously she was rushed and cut in line in front of everyone else that was already there. But what really got to me was this creepy doctor's reaction to the woman. He said very nonchalantly, "we don't have an open room right now so you'll just have to sit on a wheelchair and wait".. really, doc?? yeah, we know why you became a doctor. I will never ever come back to this PriMed location. Let me take that back, if that creepy doc is there, I will never ever go see him. Even if my life depends on it. read more

This PriMed location is closed as of 6/25/2014. I went by today and saw moving trucks outside and nobody else there. Not sure about the other locations, but since the AllMed physician group pulled out, they may also be closed. read more

Love this place . People tend to think urgent cares are replacement for hospitals but they are not . Urgent care is exactly what it says it's for ! You can't expect to get full medical care but if it's not as bad as you needing to get transported to baptist south I'm sure This urgent care can handle it! Dr. Austin is one of the best doctors here in Montgomery and he always does exceptional work . My mom had a spider bite and he always made sure he cleaned it and did what he needed to do so that it would heal. He kept following up with us and now my mom is healing Great. I see all of the glowing reports regarding this site, but I have had my last experience at this place. Recently, I had a minor emergency and I visited the site. After paying my co pay, I was seated and eventually moved to a room. Vitals were taken. Dr. Richardson then came into the room asked me to describe the problem. He then informed me that he could not help me. That's fine, but he did not even examine me. Actually, he was very curt and rude. He just stood there and diagnosed my issue without so much as checking the problem area (throat) a with a stethoscope or other device. Since I was in some pain, I left and was treated elsewhere. For the last two weeks, I have contacted the office and asked to speak to the office manager to discuss how the impact of the non-examination would affect my insurance or a possible refund of my co pay since no service was provided. As of the date of this review, the office manager or any other staff has not returned my calls. With the nonchalance manner and lack of service, I will be taking my medical needs elsewhere. Look, I get that sometimes there is a need to refer a patient to a more proper facility; however, a caring and timely response to questions is not too much to ask and frankly deserved.
