I tried going here for treatment of a minor scalp laceration, as I don't like to use precious ER time and resources that can be devoted to more serious medical issues. Double checked the website before heading here to confirm that they do treat lacerations, and as I'm checking in, I was informed that the practice does not do any stitches on the head or face. I wasn't even completely sure if I needed stitches, but I wasn't even given an option to have a doctor take a look at my injury. From the moment I entered until the time I left, my experience could not have been better. The entire staff was so kind, considerate, courteous and efficient. I'm SO mad. Let's start off saying I came here on September 7th,2023. The reason for my visit was to get my ears flushed because i couldn't hear they were super clogged. The doctor turned me away after looking in my ears telling me i had a "hole in my ear" which she couldn't "put fluid in it" and referred me to an ENT doctor. Today was the soonest appt i got with her referral doctor(September 14th, 2023) and he said he doesn't know what she's talking about and proceeded to flush my ears and now I can hear. So now I paid a double copay 1. at this urgent care, and 2. the other doctors office and went a week without hearing out of my left ear which could've been avoided if she knew what she was doing. Went in with a work related laceration, was told that figuring out insurance would be lengthy and it would probably just be better to go to an ER. Somehow that was said in the most rude way possible. I've never needed to go to an urgent care for anything other than an illness, but they expected me to know all of the ins and outs to workers comp and got frustrated when I asked questions. Got another test done here. It took a lot longer this time around because everyone is getting tested. But none the less, everyone there was nice and quick with everything. Nasia did my nasal swab. Run, don't walk, away from this facility! On the advice of her surgeon, my daughter asked me to take her to this facility to have her chest listened to and--if necessary--get a chest x-ray. She had been having some chest discomfort (nowhere near her surgery site, but likely irritated by the breathing tube that had been inserted during the surgery) and a slightly productive cough, and while he wasn't worried, her doctor said getting that assessment would be prudent. After my daughter checked in and we'd been waiting a while, the receptionist called us over and said that the doctor would not see us. He was worried about the fact that she was post-op and didn't want to examine my daughter. (Ah, the kindness and caring of a devoted medical professional!) When I stepped in (by this time, the anxiety and frustration had caused my daughter to become emotional) and asked if the doctor couldn't just listen to her lungs, the very soft-spoken, milquetoast receptionist just said, "No. He won't see her." I persisted and asked to at least have the doctor speak with me to explain his refusal. Reluctantly, the receptionist disappeared into the back and 5-10 minutes later emerged with a pleasant-enough woman who identified herself as the office manager and reiterated that the doctor would not see my daughter. As we spoke, I caught sight of the doctor (BLEIWEISS) and motioned him over to us. He was unyielding, claiming that this facility could not help my daughter if there was something seriously wrong. (Honestly, we're just looking to see if she had an upper respiratory infection -- hard to think he couldn't assess/treat that!). When I pushed back a bit and asked whether his refusal would persist if my daughter passed out in the waiting room, he said that he would tell me to put her in my car and take her elsewhere. I cannot leave a scathing enough review for this business; if I could leave negative stars, I would. They were not busy (no one was in the waiting room the entire 20 minutes we were there) and were utterly lacking in compassion. Literally, as my daughter is fearful, frustrated, and crying, the doctor is snort-laughing and telling me that if she were unconscious and on the floor, he wouldn't even cover her with a blanket and call 911. Ultimately, we left and found another urgent care that was happy to see her, listen to her chest, take an x-ray, and tell us that her lungs were totally clear. The lack of care and professionalism at AFC turned what should have been an hour to an hour-and-a-half painless errand into a more than 3-hour ordeal (we had to find another facility and drive there and then begin the whole registration process anew). The only good thing that came out of this is that while we were speaking with "Dr." BLEIWEISS, I couldn't help but think how much his obvious poor hygiene, sickly pallor, and visible hand tremors evoked an individual with a substance-use problem and that perhaps we were actually lucky that he refused to evaluate my daughter. For example, I am not the only client who noted that the staff talked about them. This is both rude and unprofessional. Second, your staff told me that someone would read my x-ray "in a few minutes." I gave up after an hour and a half. If you are running that far behind, you owe it to your clients to tell them that *before* they have their x-ray taken. Finally, you wrote about your "professional staff." I beg to disagree. Your staff didn't call me until the next day regarding dangerous findings in my x-ray. Pretty simple: work on customer service. Receptionist was clearly overwhelmed by the amount of people coming in for covid testing (here would be good idea to add more staffing). Google stated 8 pm was close so we went in around 6:20-6:30 but with the phases they closed at 7. Wasn't acknowledged while at the counter for an awkward 30-45 seconds so asked if needed to sign in. We were told to read the sign. After signing in we THEN get asked if we have ever been there before. CLEARLY WE HAVEN'T (hence asked what we needed to do). Anyway there was no 6foot spacing of seats (however people did wear masks). There was a power surge/outage that occurred which made the alarm and power flicker on and off. The alarm beeped for what had been 20 or so minutes before it was dealt with. After going in for something NOT corona related I needed to pick up antibiotics and was told it was called in. Went to pharmacy and nothing was called in. At this point the urgent care was closed and there was no way of getting anything called in. We called the pharmacy multiple times throughout the night to see if a script came in but it did not. Called the next day to ask about the script and then proceeded to the pharmacy which we had to wait for longer. Customer service is huge...if you get hangry keep a Costco protein bar with you (they are truly the best protein bars carb to protein to fiber (google it and thank me later). In August 2020 I took my staff for covid tests. We had to call for the results since no one contacted us. I just received a bill threatening collections. This was the first bill I received. Honest review. I give all types of feedback so this review wouldnt be any different. I went to AFC around 12ish, was told by Cindy to stay so she could try to squeeze me in. Cindy was absolutely polite and professional. Okay, I wasnt there for covid testing, i was there for pain. 1:00pm goes by... 2:00pm goes by and now im perturbed. Cindy repeatedly mentioned that she kept telling the girls in the back that I was in the waiting area. For the life of me I couldnt understand how the medical team INCLUDING PA didnt use their discretion when to have me go back. I understand that manyyyyy people wanted to be tested for Covid however, urgent care to my knowledge was designed for URGENT CARE. Pain superceeds a Covid test. I welcome any feedback if you disagree with this statement. Fast forward, im brought back at about 2:08am to be seen. The medical assistant was wonderful. The PA who was working wasnt dressed in medical attire. As a matter of fact, i would have thought she was someone off the street. Weather working at AFC is a weekend gig or not, if your working dress the part. My temperature was never taken, I felt PA lacked bedside. Very much... this is what i think... and bye. I know theres other people to attend to but the compassion is what i tend to look for, should I unfortunately ever have to return. I over heard conversations on the other side of the door by the PA which lacked professionalism. Some remarks you keep to yourself when on the floor. I also noticed that this place charges fees for Covid testing. It was VERY clear that the fees are what AFC charges and not the insurance company. When the couple mentioned that bcbs doesnt charge for covid testing, the front desk stated, "Sometimes bcbs charges and sometimes they don't?" Maam what do you mean? Im thinking ...is it me? What she meant to say was, AFC charges a fee for covid testing to take advantage of people who need testing. Call a spade a spade. I test weekly (fully vaxed and boosted), turn around time 2 days, PCR - no fee. The company isnt billed because i review all of the billing. Smh Closing on- Medication was called in a timely fashion. I made an apt on Zoc Doc and when I got there they responded " we don't care about your apt we are walk on only, we don't do zoc doc" In which I responded asking why they even allow you to make apts than online. It seems I made the mistake of going here to get covid testing. I was assured that I would have results in 3 to 5 days max. It's now going on well over a week During this time when testing is supposed to be getting better, it seems impossible to get results, I call daily and am put on hold each day for over 30 min and each day no results. Each time I call it seems they also think I took my test on a different day then I did, so it seems things are not very organized Extremely frustrating. Really happy with the care my 83 year old aunt received last week. Cindi at the front desk was wonderful and helped complete the paperwork, and the wait was only a few minutes. I would give AFC of Cedar Grove zero rating if I could. I visited this facility in July for a foot injury. I waited quite some time to get into a small exam room and then waited again( the office wasn't crowded). I was seen by a PA who was in the room for maybe 3 minutes. She touched my foot with 1 finger-that was it-the entirety of the exam! I then waited again for X-rays. The X-ray technician was very nice and seemed efficient (that's who the star is for) After X-rays it was back to the exam room where I waited over an hour. I could hear the chatter(not work related) of the employees as I was waiting. Finally I got up as I had enough. I left the exam room and the PA was standing in the hall chatting so I asked about my X-rays and she said they had not been read yet. I had to leave (as this was after several hours) so I asked for the report to be sent to me via emailThe PA gave no verbal or written instructions as to care , no opinion as to my injury, and had no further conversation with me ( $328 charge for that eval. plus 325 X-rays) The following day I had to call to get results as they never sent a report nor called. They finally sent me an email of "a report"! It was not my report -they sent me someone else's medical report!!!! So yet again I had to call to get my report Mid August a little over a month after my visit, I received a bill from AFC for $663. I called for explanation of that bill. I was told it was submitted to my insurance 3xs( it was not) I was told insurance paid $417- they did not. After adjustments made since insurance didn't cover their fees my bill was $235.62. I was told by one rep. that they would discount 5% however the next rep said nope that was not approved. I called 4xs regarding my bills and was given different information each time I called. The bill did not have a due date on it. However I was told that it's like a mortgage- you have 30 days and then it goes to collections ! The evening after my discussions with billing I received a call from them saying my bill was going to collections even though I had told them I was getting in touch with my ins company to try to rectify this matter. I again asked for a discount on my bill due to the service or lack thereof that I received. The following day I called again after talking to my insurance company to get a specific due date for money owed The rep told me if not paid tonight it's going to collections!! Yet they take over a month to overcharge you and bill you!! I called every number that AFC gave in prior responses to complaints here on Yelp, claiming the numbers belonged to a business administration Manager, development manager, practice manager etc - each number listed was just the number for a different AFC office. I am filing a complaint with the NJ quality of care regarding this practice. Not only was their evaluation/exam questionable,their billing process is sketchy, and their privacy practice is shoddy!( imagine getting someone else's medical report)!!! This whole experience was time consuming ,costly ,and lacking in the medical care department ! This is in reply to your message asking me to contact your business administrator. They gave them over the phone - only requesting my birth date. I then had to call back two weeks later to ask for the actual results to come in the mail. Excellent job with kindness and patience. I have seen a few poor reviews BUT my recent, 12/11/20. Visit was certainly not the case. Jennifer and the other stAff members were all efficient and pleasant as well as professional. There was a long line and the system they had worked very well. They clearly gave me an idea of the post registration wait and I knew what to expect and was prepared to be called to return into a room. The doctor was also pleasant and all were knowledgeable about COVID and able to respond appropriately to questions. I should know I am in healthcare myself. Went w my husband and son on New Years Day for a rapid test. Went early afternoon. Short line to register. Went quickly. They called us a few hours later to come back for our tests. Small group. Plenty of room for social distancing. The real reason I'm writing this review is because I cannot say enough about the girls who work there. The girl at the front desk couldn't have been nicer and the nurse who did our covid tests? Amazing! Upbeat. Bubbly. Patient. We were nervous of course (and my son & I were afraid of the test itself) and she made us feel so relaxed. She made an otherwise unpleasant experience very pleasant. Highly recommend. read more

This company Browne Medical Llc which I believe is the parent co. is committing absolutely reprehensible acts by charging customers for tests and then they charge the insurance companies $160. Horizon Blue Cross has assured me that they should not be charging any fee. I was also told that it would be refunded after payment was made from insurance and once they got paid the story changes. Tough luck you signed a waiver so u get no refund. During a national crisis to take advantage of people is the lowest type of abuse. They should be closed down. They talk about you at the nurse's station while you're in the exam room and you can hear everything as they ridicule you. During her ridicule of me, the intake nurse added extraneous information to my chief complaint that was hurtful and untrue. And when I mentioned it to her, she did not apologize. The physician assistant is more concerned about getting COVID than helping patients. I have a history of fainting after dizziness spells. I was feeling faint while driving and since I was already coming up on the urgent care, I pulled in and went in to have my blood pressure checked before getting back on the road. The doctor implied that I was anxious and that was that. He was very unwelcoming and I felt worse leaving this terrible place than I did coming in. I could tell no one took me seriously. read more

Received a self pay bill after giving all my insurance information. The people working here seem nice but this sort of thing is frustrating especially when you've filled out 20 minutes worth of insurance information and given physical card to employees. Not sure if this is an in house or system problem but I wouldn't go again because of this billing headache. Went there today because I had a sore throat with no other symptoms. They gave me a strep test and it was negative and gave me a flu test and daid it was positive. Flu? I only have a sore throat!?!?!?! No other symptoms whatsoever. Needless to say i left there and went elsewhere since I was not convinced. Long and behold i do have strep and i dont have the flu. The staff here were all very professional. I felt like crap for a couple of weeks. Some kind of virus. I had weird symptoms so I went here for a covid test. The nurse said they get results within a week. I assumed they would contact me with the test results. Guess I assumed wrong. Meanwhile I finally found a job after six months of sitting home. I told them I wasn't feeling well (so stressed out) and I had a covid test. They said they needed a negative result before I could start work. Well I had to delay my start because I had no test results after a week. I self-quarantined which just adds more stress. But still no results. Finally I called this AM after 12 days of waiting. The receptionist said they usually have results after 2-5 days. She cheerily fetched my negative result. I was relieved but my question is: Does AFC Urgent Care have any idea how getting a covid test puts your life on hold? I am lucky my future employer was forgiving; they could have bailed on me. Please get your shit together and notify people in a timely fashion. I gave up a week of lucrative work and jeopardized a new job because of their incompetence. I don't fault the workers. Was in New Jersey for a family funeral. Awoke with a terrible pain in my big toe. Went to AFC. Was told by attendant (not MD) she thought it was gout. Said I would need a blood test to be certain. They took blood. Monday back to northern NY (5 hr drive) Tuesday received phone call from AFC, they lost the blood sample, could I come in for another draw. Told them no, I live 5 hours away. They told me I should see my doctor where I live. OK... 2 months later I received a bill in the mail for my (useless) AFC visit. Talked to them twice since the first bill. I went there for a covid test last week, big mistake! I waited 5 hours!!! The staff were very nasty,I asked a question while on line outside and I was practically yelled at by the nurse or whatever she was. Very embarrassing to say the least. I asked why it was taking so long after I was yelled at, she then told me that they were short staffed because only 3 people were working because they were the only ones willing to risk their lives. I was then charged 50$ for my test which the rest of my family with the same insurance same test but went to other places did not pay for. This place is not only unprofessional, the employees were overwhelmed and not very nice or helpful. They are also ripping people off! I tried to call them to question them about the price I paid. Left several messages never got a call back. The worst experience I've ever had in a medical facility and I am a healthcare provider in the area . staff is rude inexperienced misinformed and disorganized . One staff member Said my husband and I were last in line to get covid tested for today and then 30 min later someone rudely said we were not allowed to get tested and cut off was person in front of us and she didn't care what other staff said. Late during the week of May 10, 2021 I went to AFC Urgent Care in Cedar Grove, NJ and was administered a COVID-19 test called the PCR. I needed a negative PCR test within five (5) days of the graduation date of a relative from a school in Massachusetts, just to attend the graduation. As the graduation approached over the weekend, I earnestly contacted the AFC Urgent Care for results. The staff were patient, cooperative, and very professional. I ultimately obtained the negative results one day prior to the graduation, which made my niece very happy! read more
