I have been here twice now, and both times I have been very satisfied. I made my appointment, did the paperwork and paid online. Upon arrival, they sent me a text telling me to let them know that I was there, and I checked in. All done! Once inside, I was given a mask (I was diagnosed with Flu type A) and I sat in the waiting room approximately 15 minutes. The male and female receptionists were very friendly. I witnessed an older woman in an N-95 mask becoming panicked because she was having trouble doing the paperwork on her phone. The male receptionist calmed her down and helped her finish it. A woman walked in off the street and refused a mask. She began giving a speech to the rest of us about how the masks were useless, and telling the female receptionist that she would not wear a mask. The female receptionist was very patient, and told her that if she didn't want to wear a mask, she didn't have to, but warned her nicely that the whole place was full of COVID and Flu. Margo was lovely. She took my vitals and tested me for COVID/Flu. The doctor was very nice and didn't give me too hard of a time for not getting a flu shot....even though I ended up catching the flu. I would highly recommend this facility, and I would also highly recommend doing ALL of the paperwork online BEFORE your visit. Your wait will be much quicker! read more

I used to go to Baptist UC on Poplar before it closed, so this place was the next closest. Easy same day appt booking, convenient digital pre-paperwork that didn't have to be filled out again on arrival. I arrived 10 mins early, was called back in 20. Entire staff was super nice and caring, Dr Rogers listened and exceeded expectations to address my post-Covid issues. I felt well taken care of and relieved. This is my new go-to place for when I can't get into my PCP timely. read more

this is the rudest place I've ever been to in Memphis I woke up at four in the morning with a severe migraine, coughing, and congestion. This is been going on for about a few days. I decided to go to the urgent care that I had been to before that had given me pretty decent treatment I made an appointment and filled out all the paperwork online they sent me a reminder via text. They knew what insurance I had before I came like I said I have been here before the lady was so rude so hostile and rated me because of the type of insurance I had I told her it was not through the state. She said that it was I told her it was Medicare. She said yes same thing. Medicare. She told me. She told me that there was no office manager available I offered to self-pay she said that I couldn't because it was tennCare. I told her it was not tennCare. Regardless, it shouldn't matter what a person's insurance is she had no right to yell out my personal and private business in front of a room full of people I feel she violated my hippaa, rights and discriminated against me because of the type of insurance she thought I had she talk to me like I was a second-class citizen. I set an appointment days in advance. I show up early to make sure they don't need any additional information after filling out all forms online. Two hours later, I'm still waiting. No end in sight. Walk-ins taken before appointments when they brought anyone back. It's been 45 minutes with no change in the patients going back. They're only taking one at a time, so it's pretty ridiculous. Go somewhere else. This is simply not worth it. The doctor or PA or NP who is seeing the patients might be asleep back there or needing emergency assistance of his own. He's been in hiding for a full 45 minutes. Updated: after two plus hours, they told me they do not have PCR tests. I set an appointment and stated I was there for a Covid test when I checked in. Not a word was said. The nurse practitioner was incredibly rude when I asked how they can make people wait two hours and not even have the test requested. This place is an absolute joke. read more

I needed a rapid Covid test for travel. Was told I could only get it done 5 days before flying out. Made appointments online b/c I couldn't get a soul to answer the phone when I attempted to call. My husband had the same issue. I used the "text us" option on their website and asked to have a live person call me....that NEVER happened. So, when I arrived and learned it was going to be $200 per person for a test- I was floored. It would have been nice if that cost was listed on their website...OR if I could have gotten info like that over the phone. Instead my husband and I both took off work early to get this test done. While in the lobby we joked that it seemed unnecessary since we were both vaccinated and the lady said "oh, you can still get covid with the vaccine!" Well, then WHY on earth are folks being encouraged to get the stupid shots if they don't work??? And when I mentioned that it seemed like bad customer service to not call people who request calls, or the fact that no one can ever get through on their phone lines, she kept asking me if I "pressed 2" when I called. No, I followed the prompts about covid testing, as that's WHY I was calling. If I pressed "0" I got a recording telling me the voicemail was full. When we left, the desk lady promptly texted me, as if she was shocked I left....so obviously they HAVE the ability to text people...they just can't CALL people that request a live person. We ended up getting the tests for SIGNIFICANTLY less money and got the results back within the hour. Terrible customer service and inflated prices. We will not be returning, ever. read more

Said they couldn't do anything relating to an accident, couldn't do anything related to fainting, and just wanted to send us somewhere else that could X-Ray. While in lobby, man who spoke very little English tried to communicate his issue to front desk receptionist. I had an appointment scheduled and walked in to one other patient in the waiting room. I waited for about an hour in there before being taken back to a room to be told there were a few patients in front of me and it might be a minute. After waiting for almost 2 hours, I decided to leave. I could also hear the staff in the hallway talking about other patients while I was in a room. There was no sense of urgency. I went in today for the same issue back in October and saw this same male doctor for post nasal drip, stuffiness, allergies. Appointment setting via website was easy. Check in upon arrival was great and the staff up front and the triage nurse were professional. My only problem was with the male Caucasian male doctor who serviced me today and disregarded the issues I told him I was having and kind of negated in a sense that I really had pain in my ears and how long I had been dealing with my stated issues. Instead of giving me an antibiotic shot and a sinus coctail he just pretty summed it up to a sinus coctail shot and called in an OTC nasal spray. And made a suggestion that I see an ENT doctor for my reoccurring sinus problems that occur every 4 to 6 months. He also told me on his way to the door that outside of maintenance and up from here that it was nothing ELSE that he could do for me, which was bad customer service to me. its as if he was telling me to not come back to that location if I was experiencing the same issues and it appears AFC Made a poor choice in their selection of hiring Mr. I would think that people in the helps ministry would understand a patient coming to their office to seek help. Thats why we pay insurance to get the needed help. I have been going to the location on Poplar for several years and I have private insurance, and have never been treated as such. Im very offended by this doctors convo with me and will be going back if needed but will request to see someone else if he is there. Update in response to comment: The way you spoke and your demeanor which was delivered in a dictatorship manner was not caused for and made me as the patient feel uncomfortable so to debate with me in regards to your actions and blame your receptionist (by saying they know better for doing something she was CLEARLY TRAINED to do by other staff members) shows no professionalism or management skills. What you ASSUMED was some sort of "discount" was offered since we both were POC when the root of the issue simply was poor training was demonstrated which was not MY problem or my concern. Also your clients consist of 50% POC because of the demographics in the city of Memphis; you have no choice when the city primary is made of POC (do your research) Trust me based off of previous reviews this establishment is not known to have that great of a track record. Made an appointment for a COVID-19 test, my 3rd in the last 7 months. As before, I provided my valid insurance information, which the receptionist was in the process of entering when I mentioned I might need to use it to travel soon. She stopped entering it and informed me that, since I was traveling, she would not accept it!!! Aside of the statement making no sense, I told her it was not certain I would travel (which would depend on progress of my ailing mother) and for the moment I was assuming I would not. Her response: "you can go somewhere else if you do not like it". I was shocked by her rude demeanor (of which, by the way, there had been hints during my previous 2 visits). I mentioned that my mother's condition was fragile and unpredictable, to which she responded "whatever"... I had to pay $205 on the spot, in order to get a test that IS COVERED by my insurance, and tolerate this unacceptable behavior. The owner, Jim Harper, will hear about this, as I'm sure he would want to. On another note, the rest of the staff has always been great and professional, and was supportive of my position. read more

I have been here twice for an infection and both times I honestly felt as if I was inconveniencing them by being there. Both times I had to wait an hour to be seen and even with my good insurance it was 90 dollars out of pocket which was painful in itself but both times I was desperate for an antibiotic to begin the healing process. The doctor I saw both times barely gave me the time of day and did not have a second to answer any questions about what else she could do to help me. JUST GET OUT is the impression I received on both visits. The first time I gave her the benefit of the doubt and wrote it off to maybe a bad very long day, personal issues we all have them. But no. After the second VISIT I am positive that this is her true personality and temperament. There will not be a THIRD visit I do not care if I am screaming on the floor in pain I would say no find me another place not going back there. For 90 dollars plus what they received from my insurance co a 2 minute consultation after an hour wait is pretty pricey. I remember the reason I went there now. They were the only ones open on a Sunday. My advice to anyone sick.try to hold on till Monday! You will be grateful. Peace to everyone. read more

Made a covid testing appointment online about three days in advance. On the website it makes you take pictures of insurance card- front and back, assumed that this would be verified before I made it to my appointment. When I got to my appointment, I was told that they don't accept my insurance, had they told me this over the phone before I wasted my time and gas, it would have been fine. I was told it would be a $200 fee to take it without insurance. The front desk worker who I had at the time was very polite and gave me a little more info. Other than that it was a short and unsweet experience. If you're asking for so much information online, you may as well verify it before people take time out their day for your business. read more

I am in town visiting (arrived last night). I was having severe ear pain and in an effort to not ruin my trip, I woke up very early this morning (Sunday) to go to the urgent care. I waited in the waiting room in pain for 25 minutes before the receptionist told me that Blue Cross Blue Shield doesn't verify on Sundays and since I was a first timer at that location, I would have to self-pay ($125). 25 MINUTES. I understand that the verification process isn't her fault but, if she knew they typically have issues with it, let me know when I handed her my card so I could chose what to do next. She asked me when I handed her my license and card if I had been there before -- that would've been the time to say something. I was sitting there that whole time waiting to be called. I thought I was on my way to being helped. They should retrain their front desk staff. read more

This place is a JOKE! All they want is your money, these people are total quacks. I highly recommend Methodist Le Bonheur Walk In Clinics in town instead - there are several locations around town. This place did some lab work, sent it off, and two weeks later I'm still waiting on results. I went to the Methodist walk-in, they did the test in-house, gave me results 10 min later, I got a prescription for antibiotics, and am already healthy again. But still waiting on results from "Doctor's Express".... I followed up three times and each time they told me they would call me when the results came in. She said it was taking so long because they have to "you know, grow a culture" During the last call, the lady says, what are you talking about, we do those tests in house! Your results were ready the same day and I can mail them to you. They refused to file the expense with my insurance even though I paid $400 out of pocket (it needs to be filed to go against my deductible). I tried to file it myself and the insurance provider (BlueCross) said I can't do it because they are actually IN network, so they will have to do it. They told me they didn't take my insurance. The lady on the phone even told the BlueCross rep that she refused to file it, and they had to get the higher rep to inform them that they contractually HAVE to file it. I'm pretty sure they owe me portion of the $400 as a refund but I'm not holding my breath on seeing it anytime soon. read more

Most of the time very quick visits; however, be careful when they charge you for your copay! Ensure that it's correct. Was charged $75 instead of normal $25. Was told due to my insurance that the payment increased, which was incorrect. My husband and son ended up going there afterwards and was charged $25. Requested a refund for my $50 and still have not gotten it. Been given the complete run around! Kept being told that the owner hasn't responded and then was given a toll free number to call and they don't have a record of me calling. Patients beware. It sure didn't take long for them to changes my card but I haven't gotten my refund back yet!!! My next move is theBbb. They got me in fast but that was the only positive. The people at the front desk are RUDE on the phone and in person. I am just shocked but I'm assuming it's because they deal with a lot of stuff all day, possibly? The biggest issue for me is I called ahead to check the price but when I got there it was a lot more. In fact right in front of my the doctor went up on the price of the shot 3 times. He knew I needed it and didn't want to go anywhere. I didn't have insurance so I had to pay out of pocket. Sadly I'll probably go back if I'm visiting and again and need help because it is in a good area, easy to get to and quick. I still have to give it 2 stars just for the unnecessary hostile vibe most of the workers and doctors give off there. To be fair I have found this to be the case at most Urgent Care places and certainly the 5 or 6 I called in Memphis were all very rude except one. Which is so sad because when your sick and feeling bad, the last thing you need is someone who just doesn't give 5 cents about you. I went in today with a possible broken ankle. The lady at the front desk was very rude and seemed like she didn't want me there. I was told to walk my paper work out to the car and then walk it back in when I was finished filling it out. I couldn't walk I was literally hopping to and from my car and I was concerned I would fall and hurt more than my ankle. On top of that I was told my insurance was out of date and it's not. I honestly think they didn't want to treat me. I ended up going to med post in Germantown they came to my car with a smile and a wheel chair and I had no problem with insurance. Went for a quick visit due to the flu and was billed twice for what my insurance didn't cover. I paid this twice in error and have been trying to get a refund since last October. Been told numerous times "it takes two months" and "a check is in the mail". I've made two visits to this facility, one in Nov 2013 and the second just a few days ago in Jan 2014. Can't say I'd want to go back again. If I need urgent care in Memphis while I am still on a work assignment here I'll check out one of the many other competing facilities in the area. Was not happy with the medical assistant yelling out the amount of each patient's co-pay so that everyone else could hear it in the waiting room, which she did on both visits. Nor was I happy with her apparent complete inability, during the "triage" portion of my first visit, to read a sheet of paper on which I had listed all my medications, prior hospitalizations and other pertinent medical info. On my second visit this individual insisted I had to pay a "past due balance" on my account that I had paid electronically a month earlier. I used my iPad to show her proof of payment using my bank's online account management tool, but that did not seem to mean much to her. Only after another employee said there are problems with their accounting system did this individual back down from trying to extract a second payment from me. The bill Doctor's Express sent my insurance company after my first visit was a shocker. Around $800 for a minor incision/drainage of a small (put painful) boil during a physician "encounter" that may have lasted 10 minutes at most. My insurer quickly knocked down the amounts charged to a more reasonable level and outright refused to pay several hundred dollars in questionable "upcharges" for "treatment in an urgent care facility" and "special services." Not sure what the "special service" I got was. Interaction with physician (different doctor than the one I saw on the first visit) on second visit was less than optimal. She chewed me out for objecting to the "shakedown" by her medical assistant described above, and was rather abrupt and hurried, except for the time she felt she needed to take to tell me what a terrible person I am for not kowtowing to her assistant's demand for double payment. Very happy with the services provided by Doctors Express. I went in on a Friday morning and was seen by the doctor within 10 minutes. The doctor was extremely nice and explained in detail the tests she was conducting and the medicine she was prescribing. The next day the office staff called to make sure I got my prescription and to see if I was feeling better. Since I wasn't, she consulted with the doctor and gave me follow up advice. read more

Pros: *Office and nursing staff were nice; *Wait time was minimal and nurse apologized for it being as long as it was. Cons: *Loud voices of the staff and odd configuration of office means everyone can everything in the waiting and exam rooms. No such thing as privacy here! *Exam and triage rooms weren't clean; *Dr. Dale Norris has to be the rudest doctor I've encountered. I was called "stupid" for not getting my flu shot earlier and said he knew I'd be positive because I was exhibiting symptoms. His exam and questions (which he never gave me a chance to answer) amounted to less then 2 minutes of time. Turns out I wasn't positive, but said he'd give me Tamiflu anyway. I'd never been asked which pharmacy I used, so when he left the room without further instructions, I followed and questioned if I would be given a paper prescription. I was asked, "You really are stupid, aren't you?" and told it would be called into my pharmacy. When I explained no one had asked which pharmacy I used, so that'd be impossible, he huffed and had to put the pharmacy information in himself, a task he obviously felt was beneath him. He never said, "Okay, I put it in the system.", "Sorry for the confusion." or anything that would lead me to believe we were finished, aside from pushing passed me and going on to the next patient. After seeing complaints from others, I'm honestly concerned about how much my bill will be for this horrible experience. read more

Very quick, clean, and efficient. The staff was very courteous and helpful. I was in town on business and had to use Yelp to find a place open after 6pm to treat a horrible cough. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes with the prescriptions I needed. Great doctor on call too. read more
