I never did hear back from the 2021 thing but was re-referred so had an appointment today. At the Scottsdale office, the receptionist Brianna was very unfriendly, also not professionally dressed and completely argumentative. Cristina who I set up the appointment with through email sent me paperwork to fill out, specifically stating so I did NOT have to fill it out at the office, trying to make things easier for me the patient, which is always appreciated but however Brianna without checking with anyone decided that I needed to fill out new paperwork because it's the 2nd day of a new year, even though NOTHING HAS CHANGED, not even their forms have changed. I did not appreciate her little powertrip, no one on earth wants to go to a urologist, no one, so there is no reason to make things more difficult just to make them more difficult. Oddly she somehow did not need my insurance card or ID to update even though I sent those in with the paperwork... I'm now with Dr. Faisal and she seems great, cleared up the issue my Barrow Institute Dr was sending me for and is sending me for an ultrasound to check on a kidney stone I may have. read more

Warning: Don't see Scott Young!! (Full explanation below) Long story short, I was on his schedule for about 6 weeks after not seeing him for a couple of months because I lost my insurance. Confirmed the appointment the day before. Showed up early, waited for an hour as he saw three other patients, two of which had later appointments. Went out to figure out what was going on only to find out that he was refusing to see me but was also refusing to come tell me he was refusing to see me. The most unprofessional medical Dr I have ever worked with. Full explanation: I was seeing Scott Young last summer/ fall because I have low testosterone. A couple of visits after I told him I was taking a little more than what I was prescribed because I felt the dosage was too low. He told me that he did not support that and that if I continued he would refer me to someone else. I thanked him for his honesty and I stopped and started taking the prescribed amount. I lost my insurance shortly after so I wasn't able to get in for about 6 months. During that time I completely stopped my testosterone use. Fast forward to my appointment in March. I called to confirm my appointment the day before and was told everything was good to go. I show up 10 mins early to my appointment. After waiting for 45 mins I asked one of the staff members what was going on. She said she would go get the Dr and have him come in. Another 20 mins go by, I go out again and talked to another staff member because I could hear him seeing other patients in the room next to me. She told me that Steve Young was refusing to see me because he said I wasn't following his medical advice. Keep in mind I was on his schedule for about 6 weeks and he never bothered to say anything then or cancel my appointment. Instead he saw 3 other patients while making me wait for an hour in the room just to refuse to see me. Later I found out he was told by management to come tell me he was refusing to see me but he also refused to do that. This is the worst medical experience I've ever had! read more

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS, I WOULD. I have been waiting all week for AU to simply fax a new prescription of my catheters to the med supply company (WHICH ARE EXTREMELY MEDICALLY NECESSARY). I went to an appointment to get my catheter prescription updated weeks ago, and was assured they would fax over my prescription right away. I do not know what is wrong with this business, but this is not the first time this has happened!! They have repeatedly dropped the ball. EXTREMELY unprofessional. I've called about 20+ times this week to ask if they have fixed it, and they tell me they do, but there is a breakdown of communication somewhere because THEY'RE NOT DOING IT. I've begged. I manage the medical care of an elderly relative with a complex health situation, mostly unrelated to urology. However, she does require a urologist for one specific condition and has been a patient at Affiliated Urology for the past three years. Unfortunately, our experience with this practice has been extremely maddening. Despite the relatively limited role urology plays in her overall care, managing this one office has taken far more of my time than coordinating care for her primary condition--despite her seeing other specialists much more frequently. This practice, though not especially large, operates like a labyrinthine bureaucracy. It often takes days or even weeks to receive a response to a simple inquiry--and when they do respond, it's frequently incorrect, requiring the process to start all over again. Appeals for urgency on behalf of a patient suffering from delays and mistakes are typically met with indifference. In short, communication, attention to detail, and patient empathy is a constant struggle: you're shuffled between voicemails, receptionists, medical technicians, physician assistants, and prior authorization staff, with no clear point of accountability or timetable for resolution. And again - these are for relatively simple requests. There are many urology practices around the valley, many of them very good. My relative is now at a good one. If you want a good one as well, run from this practice. read more

I was a patient of Affiliated urologists for many years. I probably spent over 5 to 10K in medical costs during that time and was happy to do so. However, once Dr Lipson left that place has gone downhill quickly. I have an enlarged prostate and it is essential that I get my flowmax in order to be able to have urine pass. Apparently my script expired, and the pharmacy requested a refill 7 to 10 days before the script was due to be filled again. No word came from the doctors office over this time period. I go to get my meds on a thursday evening and they are not available. I call the doctors office on friday morning about 9am, they said that they would get back to me if there was an issue. I explained that I needed the meds. Crickets.... The next few days were very uncomfortable and painful. I did get a call from Affiliated urologists on the following monday saying I would need to come in for an appointment before the script could be filled. I told them basically in a nice way to "piss off". Any doctor that witholds meds that are needed to maintain your health is not a doctor you want to keep. Stay away from this place they border on violating the hipocratic oath of doing no harm. If this is how they treat customers, they have a long way to go. PS. When I contacted their emergency line over the weekend they basically said the doctor could not issue a perscription over the phone that he or she would be more than willing to talk to me about how to survive the weekend. The policy sucks and borders on sadism. What they wanted was for me to end up in the ER with a catheter. Nice guys they are! read more

Avoid Dr Dan Jaffe like the plague . Non caring , abrupt , no staff communication . I had a non surgical procedure scheduled and an anesthesiologist was to put me in twilight sleep . Arriving for the procedure I was told there is NO anesthesiologist present but procedure can B done being under laughing gas but I would feel pain . I asked Dr if he is crazy and why practitioners needed are not present . He apologized I walked out . Never go back . Also the non surgical invasive procedure per Medicare generates more $$ than most ! Office personal are yelling and non caring . Avoid this practice . Lastly I was given info prep when leaving and not give steps what to do B4 the procedure . DO NOT go there ! Received substandard care coupled with professional misconduct . Dr Borhan is great but whoever manages this doctors office in general from patient intake to scheduling is not good at their job. I have been here 3 times now for testosterone checkups and adjustments and have always had a 15-20 minute wait but this is horrible. Had an appointment scheduled 3 months in advance, 2 days before that appointment they call me to reschedule and had to push the appointment out two weeks. I showed up for my 10AM appointment today and it is now 11:32 and I'm still waiting in the lobby. I asked why it's taking so long and was told "the PA is working out of one room today so they need to wait for it to open up". This is ridiculous. It's literally a 5 minute in and out conversation about test levels and adjusting the prescription and I've had to wait this long. The office needs to figure stuff out. read more

The doctors seem good but the office and billing staff is not. I was over charged for an office visit by over $200.00. they have had the over payment for over a month, they told me refunds may take up to 6 weeks but I have been trying to call the billing department for 2 weeks and are on hold over 35 minutes. Dr. Martin was a really nice doctor! He is patient and friendly, and lets you ask all the questions you want. He also breaks down the science into simple terms so anyone can understand, while putting you at ease, which is how a doctor should be. His staff is very nice and professional, too. As you can see in other posts the office staff is unprofessional and rude. They are unable to keep appointments straight, angry when you ask a question, and argumentative. We made an appointment a month in advance so we could see a particular dr. They did not have the right doctor listed for the appointment after we waited this long. Then they asked questions that were against HIPPA regulations in front of other people waiting for appointments. The PA my mom saw was great! Every nurse we saw was amazing! The office staff were friendly and helpful. The wait time is crazy, the waiting room is big but PACKED! Had an appointment but waited 45 mins to be seen, which seems like the standard. Patels PA is great, like I said. She felt genuine and was thorough. My mom has Alzheimer's and I was nervous how the appointment would go. No complaints except the waiting room. NOW, at the hospital.... Dr. Patel argued with a nurse in front of us, belittled her, cut her off and said, "I don't want to argue about it, get it done!" Well, she didn't.... She instead followed protocol which was to wait for him to enter information into her file before transfer. He didn't mark the side with a marker which the nurse also had to do for him. He was arrogant, short, and rude. From across the nurses station I saw the rest of the drama unfold as he was not happy. I told the nurse we didn't mind waiting for protocols to be followed. She apologized and said, "I'm sorry, I have to follow the protocols or I could get fired. It's safe practice and it's in place for a reason.... My opinion is Dr Patel is a good doctor, BUT as a person he needs to be humbled. I think he relies on his degree and looks to be successful, but I'd recommend his PA or another Dr, unless it's an emergency. Phoenix office. If I could give NO STARS, I would. VERY unimpressive. People at front desk clearly hate their job. Jaffee spent about seven minutes with me, including his bladder scope, which took under two minutes; as a physician's daughter, I know a thorough one takes easily three or four times as long. I was simply another cluck on an assembly line. They lost my urine sample. When I finally requested someone (I was told 'Elizabeth, Jaffee's ass't') call me with test results, since the 'patient portal (So sick of those! I want a human!) was not accessible, I left two messages over four days--and was never called back. (Four days later, she called, and was told 'When the news is good, we tend to take longer...') They neglected to put my penicillin allergy down, which I had informed them of on the paperwork. Still no possible explanation from them for specific bacteria and other presentation in urinalysis. Another unwelcome surprise: as a result of either the coping or the prep at their office, had my first UTI! Even my internist's office is ... let's say, surprised. Never again! As a consequence, he called the emergency number associated with the Affiliated Urologist Group. The person who answered assured him that someone would call him to discuss his health issue. As of Wednesday, April 28, 5 days later, he is still waiting for an emergency call back from this organization. It appears that no one was concerned about his problem. I had a medical procedure scheduled with Dr Kevin Art. I confirmed the appointment 48 hours prior. I completed all the pre op instruction and arrived at his office heavily sedated per said pre op instructions. My appointment was schedule at 11:45am. Due to bad traffic I arrived 10 minutes late, To my shock, he refused to see me. This wasn't a standard office visit. This was a procedure that required me to take the day off work and arrange for childcare. Sorry I was late but show a little grace. When I had my initial consultation, I waited in the lobby for almost a half hour past my scheduled time. To refuse me after 10 minutes is flat out insulting. If he shows so little care pre op, I'm sure the post op care is even worse. Think twice before trusting him with your testicles. read more

While I am pretty sure he is a good doctor, the problem is the last 3 times i have gone to see him, He is not the one who comes into the waiting room with me. I've had a urinary track infection for months! I go in there to get tested and have yet to get my test results or any antibiotics for my infection. And trust me I know I have an infection! Dr Jaffee performed the Urolyft procedure on me in June of 2020. I chose Urolyft because it is minimally invasive, has a quick recovery and demonstrated very good results. I choose to see Dr Jaffee as he is designated by Urolyft as achieving expert level. The procedure was quick and recovery was also rapid. I notied improvement in my bladder function and less frequest night trips to the bathroom within 1 week. It has been 3 months since the procedure and the improvement has been outstanding. I make only 1 night bathroom trip and I no longer have to urinate frequently during the day. Dr Jaffee is caring, professional, and a talented surgeon. I have worked in the medical field for many years . I would stay clear of this nasty very dirty place.. so much for the universal cleanlyness law.. First i had to wait several months to get this appt.. I did have to re schedule due to a family emergancy.. When you walk into the office it has an overpowering smell of cheap candles.. really strong.. I did mention that to the reseptionest.. that i might not be able to stay due to the smell.. i asked if i could possibly see him on friday or next week at his other location which she reply you will have to wait another several weeks and hes only there on thurdays.. Then i tryed to stick it out because of the pain i was in.. I got into the room I didnt have to wait to long about 15min.. They asked for the urine and open the bathroom door and every thing that was suppose to be sanitary was on the floor ..Did she offer no clean up NO WAY.. just ignored the whole thing.. Then I go to put my stuff in the door and they didnt even check the last 6 before me no room for me to put mine barely so i told her nicely that the next person will not be able to put theres in.. so she told the girl down the hall that she needed to deal w that issue. So now im in my room and smell wasnt as bad untill the ac pops on.. So im trying to read and the room was dirty see photo trash overflowing .. yukkkkky.. so i jut left ... someone can really get an infection with all that mess and if my DR isnt into cleanlyness i dont need him.. I will be calling my insurance to make sure they dont get paid i didnt see dr.. IV tryed to call the office manager with no responce. no suprise to me.. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THI MESS. I am an postgraduate educated career professional over 60. I am giving 3 stars to this practice due to Dr. Martin. The rest of the staff, specially the clerks and PAs are terrible. They practice ageism and ableism and make excuses for their own incompetence. Respectfully, I will encourage Dr. Martin to start his own practice with different supporting staff who is actually trained in how to treat the largest clientele they serve and to find the appropriate answers to important questions and concerns ~even when they are above their obviously low level of education and expertise. In this pluralistic society I hope there are other medical practices that are sensitive to the age, physical changes and emotional concerns of their patients who have recently been diagnosed with a life threatening condition. My room was clean during both of my visits for the consult and the actual procedure.
