We stopped by here on our way through Winnipeg and it was delicious. There was a wide variety of foods, often with all the ingredients listed, which made things much easier for me as a picky eater. We had the tofu and seaweed soup, which was wonderfully comforting and clean-tasting, the satay eggplant, which even my omnivorous mother thought was delicious, and the "vegan" fish with lemon, which was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. (My mother and I agreed that it tasted like fancy fish sticks, and if that sounds like faint praise, remember that there was no fish in it whatsoever, so it was convincing!) The service was great. Our server, who I think was also the chef, brought a small extra bowl for the soup without us asking because she'd overheard us saying it might be nice to share, and they were some lovely small touches like the water having a touch of lemon in it and the green tea we ordered, which was solidly decent, coming pre-steeped with no teabag so it didn't get sharp over the course of the meal. This would be a great restaurant for families or friend groups with a mix of vegans and non-vegans, who don't want to limit the vegan members in their options but still want crowd-pleasing and affordable food. The "fish" we had would also be a sure hit with picky kids on those occasions as well, as I suspect much of the menu would be. I wish I could teleport the whole restaurant to my hometown! read more

Whether you're a vegetation or not, this is hands down the best place to eat In Downtown Winnipeg. The food is so fresh and clean here and the options are plentiful. There is a lot of seating for groups but you can also take out. The best part of this place is their lunch buffet. You can eat in or take it to go. Not many places offer a buffet-style lunch to go! The lunch buffet is pay by weight. A full plate will run you under $12 which is well worth the quality of the food. The options for lunch change daily so come often! This restaurant has been in many local newspapers and featured in various blogs. If you're looking for good and REAL food, this is it. For those who are slaves to vehicles, there's no need to worry about parking. Lots of street parking. Free after 530 pm during the week so no need to be petty and say it's hard to park. read more

This is a great Vegan restuarant in the heart of downtown Winnipeg. My friend and I have been comming here for quite some time and always enjoy it! One great thing about the restuarant itself is it has plenty of seating. This makes it easy to accomdate larger groups or for privacy. Theey offer what looks like a wonderful lunch buffet( havent tried that yet, but I will) and menu options to choose from. The menu has a very good variety of tasty items from appetizers to main course options to choose from. My top favorites is the wantons in spicy sauce, sweet and sour tofu, kung pao gluten and sweet and sour veggie fish. Prices are very reasonable and you get a very decent portion. The owners are very pleasant and service is excellent. The downside I would say is since it is downtown, parking may be an issue. Good option for Chinese-style vegan food in downtown Winnipeg. We came for dinner and ordered a few dishes. Tasty food, but coming from Vancouver (I guess I'm spoiled), this is not close to authentic Chinese food -- more like Chinese-style stirfry, compromised for the Western palate. The server we had (perhaps the owner's daughter) was probably the sweetest and most patient server I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant. More detailed descriptions or pictures on the menu would help when ordering. We ordered two combos, which I felt were overall good value for money. The spring roll was tasty with many large pieces of mushrooms. The 3 wontons in the soup were very tasty. A couple carrot pieces and some tiny bits of celery added to the broth-overall, nice. The pepper steak did not seem steak-like as many Chinese veggie meats actually can be, but was tasty for sure. The chicken was a good texture, flavour average. The brown rice was good. Steamed veggies on the side were cold and unflavoured carrots slices and broccoli--not impressed. Dessert was fine. Overall, this restaurant's food may not entirely wow you but it offers decent value for money and all staff seem particularly nice. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I went to this place because of the good reviews. However, when I go to a vegetarian restaurant (and some reviews said a typical Buddhist restaurant), I expect non-greasy, healthy and fresh food. Maybe I am a bit spoiled, but I was quite disappointed by this. The food was greasy, it was a buffet style where you pay by weight and there wasn't any unique dishes. I don't mind paying by weight, but when I asked the owner how much per pound or 100 grams, he just pointed at the scale. Sure, I could have done the calculation, but he should give a price per 100 grams or a price per pound or something. In addition, there was no complimentary tea. To me, this is just a chop suey house without the meat and not a specialized vegetarian restaurant. My advice: Provide free green tea and it'll make a big difference. read more

Great vegetarian food, but service and atmosphere is lacking. I find the space uncomfortable, like you're dining in a curtained part of a bigger space. Go during the late afternoon, because as it is with three couples in the restaurant, it will take 30 minutes to have your food ready. read more

I'm never disappointed when I dine here. I don't know what omnivore perspective I'd have twenty years ago but as a vegan, it hits the spot! It's located downtown, which is perfect. Dress code is pretty simple and the staff are just so nice and polite I've never had rude service there. For years I'd gone there for supper, especially birthday dinners until I went to their lunch buffet. Now, the lunch buffet is the only thing I've done for the past few years! Love this place. With several vegan spaces going away, this is a wonderful haven from the carnivorous world; it's a great place to take omnivorous people without any tension about the deliciousness of the dishes. read more

I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars. I've been here in the past and had the sizzling mushrooms, and they were amazing. I was here the other night and got a combo plate and I was less impressed. I got Combo E, which is curry veggiepork & potatoes, a spring roll, soup (I got hot & sour), rice (I got brown) and dessert (deep fried banana balls with lemon sauce.) I also ordered an iced ginger tea. The soup was tasty and quite hot, but less sour than I like it. They brought out some vinegar which helped it along, though I think brown or red vinegar would have been more on target flavour-wise than the clear stuff they offered (white? maybe rice?) The spring roll was super tasty, hot and crispy. Thumbs up! The curry was served over the rice, with steamed broccoli and carrots on the side. The sauce was pretty good, the potatoes were cooked right and the "pork" had a very meat-like texture and tasted pretty good, but somehow the dish was just underwhelming. The steamed veggies were perfectly cooked. The banana balls were light and crispy and the lemon sauce was the perfect touch. Definitely a winner. The iced ginger tea was very tasty. Very spicy and not too sweet, it tasted like it was a tisane made from fresh ginger. No actual tea leaves were involved. Next time I go I think I'll stay away from the fake meat dishes and stick to ingredients that aren't trying to be something they're not. The atmosphere and service are average. read more

I love this place! I always have to make a stop here when I'm in Winnipeg. It can be very busy during the week when they have their buffet which I haven't been to in a long time. But, generally it's not too busy and they let you choose where you want to sit. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Even though on the menu items are listed as meat dishes, its all mock meat. Its one of the few completely vegetarian restaurants in the Peg. I always get the curry "pork" and the "ham" and pepper fried rice. I'll be paying Affinity a visit in July when I'm home again. read more

Affinity is a great restaurant with an accessible location. The food is fresh and flavourful, and the staff are friendly and thoughtful. My favourite dishes here are the Shanghai noodles with tofu and vegetables, the pan fried dumplings, the Kung pao gluten, and the spring rolls. The only thing I would like to see change is the addition of comfortable benches in addition to the chairs the restaurant has available for seating, as well as a delivery option for when I can't make it down to the restaurant. Overall, I really enjoy dining at this restaurant and will continue to recommend it to my friends. read more

What can I say I liked the food with the exception that it was a little greasier then I expect. It is a plan looking restaurant with a good menu, and ok food. The service was not fast, but the food arrived fresh and just cooked. I have to make it by the lunch buffet. This is the absolute best restaurant in Winnipeg. If I had to choose one place to eat from for the rest of my life I would choose Affinity. Everything is wonderful- my current go-to's are the Garden Special Chow Mein and Crispy Bean Curds with Sweet & Sour Sauce, but you cannot go wrong with any dish you choose. If you 're a soup lover - the Won Ton soup is wonderful - a super big bowl full of fresh veggies and wontons - very filling and all for under ten dollars. Why did I wait so long? Spent 6 weeks in downtown Winnipeg not knowing this place was 2 blocks away!! I looked at their menu online, but just never got around to going. Tonight was my last night in town so I had to try it out. The hot and sour soup had good flavor and was 'clean'. The Chili Eggplants were awesome, nice spice and just enough ground protein for that boost. It was also ala carte, so I didn't have to throw out the rice. I got take-out, but there is a nice ambience. The food I saw coming out as I waited for mine looked amazing. My order was ready in less that 10 minutes. I highly recommend this place, great staff. I was asked to sit at a table and served water while I browsed the take out menu. Really Really nice!!! :D read more
