Janet also assists with foreclosure avoidance, and can file emergency bankruptcies when it would benefit a client. We meet with clients on a weekly basis that need to save their home from foreclosure, and they need guidance from an attorney that understands the law. Often times homeowners are prayed upon by attorneys who offer to sue the bank in order to attempt to force the bank to do a loan modification, and those attorneys charge huge upfront fees, but this is not the what Janet does - she does not get any compensation until after the homeowner receives an approved loan modification! The contrast with the large "We Defend Men" firm I first hired was stark. After paying them $10K, it became clear they were just going through the motions. In my experience, those firms often delay steps that could move a case forward - - including efforts to shift payments away from the high temporary spousal support toward the typically lower, court-ordered amount - - delays that may cost clients thousands. After firing that firm and representing myself, with a ton of help from Family Court Services, I came to see how slow the process was with the big firm. I realized not all lawyers truly fight for their clients. Brumer did. Despite his toughness, when it came to handling the house-sale proceeds, he disbursed my share promptly and without games. For men tempted by the big-firm pitch, my advice is to think twice.
