I paid around $4,000 for legal representation for my DUI case, and unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the guidance I received from attorney Lindsey. The first issue happened when Lindsey gave me the wrong address for where I needed to go. I drove all the way there, only to discover that the address she had written down for me was incorrect. I had to come back to the office, show her the paper with the address she gave me, and she apologized and corrected it. However, the much more serious issue involved my driver's license. The DMV suspended my license for three months. I still had my physical driver's license card because it had not been taken from me. I specifically asked Lindsey, more than once and on different occasions, what I needed to do after the three-month suspension period ended. I clearly asked her whether I needed to go back to the DMV, complete any additional steps, or do anything else before I could legally drive again. I wanted to be absolutely sure, which is why I asked repeatedly. Lindsey told me that I did NOT need to do anything else. She told me that after the three-month suspension period was completed, and with my required classes being handled, I could drive again and that I was good. Because I still had my physical license card, I specifically confirmed with her whether there was anything else I needed to do, and again I was told there was not. I relied on the advice I received from my attorney and started driving after the three-month suspension period ended. Approximately six months later, I was shocked when my dealership's insurance company informed me that my driver's license was STILL showing as suspended. That is when I learned that there were additional DMV reinstatement requirements that had not been completed. For approximately six months, I had been driving believing that my license was valid because I had specifically asked my attorney multiple times and was told that I was good to drive. If I had been pulled over or involved in an accident during that time, the consequences could have been extremely serious. What frustrated me even more was when I later spoke with Isabel at the office and the situation was described as possibly being a "misunderstanding." I respectfully disagree with that explanation. This was not a situation where I simply assumed I could drive or misunderstood something on my own. I specifically asked Lindsey multiple times because I wanted to make sure I was following the law. I clearly asked whether I needed to do anything with the DMV after the three-month suspension ended, and I was specifically told that I did not. I do want to be fair to Isabel. She has been professional in communicating with me and has been trying to help resolve the situation, which I appreciate. However, I was disappointed that the explanation seemed to suggest that I may have misunderstood the advice. From my perspective, calling it a misunderstanding shifts responsibility onto me when the entire reason I repeatedly asked my attorney was to avoid exactly this type of situation. This is why people hire attorneys. I paid around $4,000 because I expected professional legal representation and clear guidance about what I needed to do. A client should not have to already know the DMV requirements and then repeatedly question their attorney to make sure the advice they are receiving is correct. I am not writing this review because I am unhappy with the outcome of my case. I am writing it because I relied on the legal guidance I was given regarding my driving privileges, and I later discovered that I had been driving for months while my license was still showing as suspended. That is a very serious issue, and I believe potential clients deserve to know about my experience.

I have already paid $4,824.95 and was just billed another $1,575. To make matters worse, my attorney, Francisco Batara, attended a critical video hearing from the DMV while handling personal business, not even in a private or professional setting. He later claimed the Judge never read the X factors, but if he had been competent and focused, he would have realized that $500 a month in support for four children--with me having physical custody and the respondent at 40% timeshare--made no sense. His lack of attention cost me significantly and dragged this case out much longer than necessary. Because he missed the Judge's reasoning during that hearing, he later told me he had already drafted a Request for Order to correct the issue--but said he couldn't file it until I paid the remainder of my bill, which was $825. After I paid that, I was then hit with yet another $1,575 charge once he filed. This firm is not worth it. Between the misleading estimates, excessive billing, and lack of professionalism, I would not recommend Men's Legal.
