Wasted my time to estimate but never came back with estimate. Went with other company very happy with them.

I hired this company to install a double gate fence in my driveway , they charged me for two 4" post to hold the gates, but they installed two 3" post and I've had problems with it ever since. I called the company and they sent someone out to look at it and he said they couldn't do anything about it! So it's been about12 or 13 years dealing with a bad functioning gate. Today I had a gentleman install the right size post. Come to find out they only put about 6" of cement in the hole to hold the post, this is why the post moved. The guy today put 2' of cement and it's like a solid rock. Affordable fence company did a terrible job and robbed me!! read more

This place is not worthy of your time, or I'm not worthy of theirs... I can't tell. Twice now I have scheduled an estimate with Bill Williams and both times were no-shows, no calls about any change of plans. The first time was in April 2014 and they scheduled a Saturday morning at 9am. I got a voicemail at 1:50PM on the Saturday we scheduled from Bill saying he got "tied up this morning" asking if he could come by right now. I didn't call back. So after a few estimates from other companies, I thought I'd give them another shot one month later. I called and again scheduled an appointment. They offered Saturday 10:30am. I agreed. Later in that same day Stephanie called me and asked if they could "widen the window" for Bill because she was unaware of something he had going on that morning. Really?! She offered 10:30 - 1PM. I was hesitant, but I agreed. I am now typing this because he again is a no-show, and nobody called to let me know. I actually had plans today and was hoping for one more estimate, so I stayed home. I guess they are a wealthy company, because they aren't interested in competing for my money. They aren't interested in potential customers. They don't communicate well at all.They are not on task. A HUGE warning that this is also how they'll probably conduct themselves while on the job. I guess it's a blessing in disguise. But you've been warned. read more

I am deeply disappointed. An appointment was scheduled two days prior. On the morning of my appointment, I called in the morning to confirm the afternoon appointment. During my appointment's one hour arrival time frame, 40mins in, I receive a call that their estimator isn't able to make it. Things happen and I can understand that but respecting the consumer's time and money is important when running a business. I could have scheduled other appointments. It would have been a nice business gesture to receive a confirmation call beforehand and then provide a timely cancellation notice. I'm sharing this experience for others because I rely on reviews when researching businesses. I hope that you have a better experience and if you can recommend a reliable fence builder, please share. With all the crazy storms I couldn't get anyone to come out. Everyone set an appointment and nobody would show. I called Affordable Fence and a nice lady answered and set an appointment. It was kind of far out, the earliest was two weeks from the time I called. I was hesitant but set the appointment. The day before the appointment a lady called and confirmed I would be home and said Tom will call before he goes to confirm again since they were having an issue with people not showing up. He called and arrived on time. We went over my issues and he gave me a card and said it will be emailed over in a few minutes. He sat in his truck and by the time I turned on my computer it was there. I tried a couple other places and spoke with my neighbors and we agreed to go with Affordable. I called and spoke with Alyssa to get a time to start. She said she will call Tom and call me back. In 20 minutes she called me back and said approx. 5 weeks until start. On week four i was called and asked if they can start on Tuesday and I said yes. Crews showed up around 9 and went over the job with me. Very nice old man and two young men. Job took four days and before they left they asked me to walk the job and sign the work order. Next the invoice was in my email with a way to pay online. The receptionist was friendly and we set an appointment to have someone come out to give us an estimate on our porch railing remodel. The appointment was scheduled for 8am and I called at 8:20 after no one showed up. I was told the appointment was from 8-9 and someone would call when they're on their way. 2 hours later, I called the company and was told that the person who was supposed to come give us an estimate was sick. Called the office and they managed to give me an excuse they have the addresses confused. I have called their office four times to get my estimate... My wife and I called Affordable Fence & Construction to schedule an appointment for a free fencing estimate. We were given a 10 am appointment for 3 days later. On the day of the appointment no one showed at the appointed time. When no one had arrived by 12:45 pm (15 minutes before the end of the scheduled time) I placed a call to Affordable to ask what time the estimator would be arriving. The woman that answered the phone (who sounded just like the person that originally scheduled our appointment) said she didn't have us on her schedule. When I informed her that we had scheduled the appointment several days earlier she apologized for the mistake and said she would have someone come out that day between 1 and 3 pm. I asked her to have the estimator call about 20 minutes before he arrived as we had been waiting all day and had some late afternoon appointments to make. We were assured someone would be arriving between 1 & 3 pm so we waited again. When no one arrived or called by 2:45 pm (15 minutes before the end of the new scheduled appointment time) I called Affordable back. The (same) woman said she would check with the estimator for an arrival time and give us a call back. When 4 pm arrived and we had not received a call from the woman in the Affordable Fence office or from the estimator I called back and told them to cancel the appointment. 20 minutes later as I was leaving my house after having wasted an entire day because of Affordable Fence the estimator arrived unannounced. He said it wouldn't take long for the estimate and that I did not need to stay while he measured our property. I explained to him what we were interested in and he said that he would write up the estimate and email it to me the next day. The following day I waited and continued to check my email. By 1 pm when no email arrived from Affordable, I called their office. I spoke with the same woman I had been previously speaking with who informed me that the estimator was currently working on the estimate and I would receive the estimate by the end of business that day. Their office closes at 5 pm (according to their website) so when I received nothing by 4:45 pm I called back. The "same" woman (despite previously telling me the estimator had already been working on our quote) somewhat rudely told me that the estimators were still out in the field and that she would have to wait until they returned before she could email the estimate but she would be sure to send It off by the close of business that day. It has now been almost a week and of course I haven't received anything from Affordable Fence. We had received a quote from Sandoval Fence in Stockton earlier in the same week that we were also scheduled to meet with Affordable fence. We were waiting for the 2nd quote from Affordable Fence before making a final decision. The estimator from Sandoval Fence was on time, professional, made several excellent suggestions regarding not just our fencing but also our yard that we intend to replace along with adding the new fencing. We are preparing to spend approximately $7000.00 with Sandoval Fence in Stockton and fully expect to be extremely satisfied with their work. Based on posted reviews by other consumers that were interested in possibly utilizing services from Affordable Fence & Construction it seems that our truly horrible experience was more common than not. It seems the owners of Affordable Fence and Construction must be a family owned business that isn't concerned about the way their customer service is treating potential customers and driving away business. Apparently they no longer need any new business or customers since their company's position seems to be that it is an "honor and a privilege" to purchase one of their fences. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!! Whatever you do. My experience with this company has been a nightmare. You may get a good price on a fence, but the rest of it doesn't make it worth it. They don't communicste with you. They don't tell you whats going on if there is a delay. I had to call them when they didn't show like I was told they would. The installation was a joke. I can't believe that after they installed fence that they stood back and said good job. The posts weren't attached, the closing gear didn't line up. They reused old parts when I should have gotten new, they didn't tighten up bolts on other side, the fence drags. I could go on but you see my point. There is no quality control. You're just better off NOT USING THIS COMPANY. Im only giving it one star because I have to. read more

I started my fence search in May 2012. Called three different fence contractors for an estimate. Affordable Fence sent their estimator out and he could see I had a difficult yard to put a front fence and gate across. I have a raised front yard with a 17" tall concrete wall around it and a sloped driveway. But the estimator Matt said the that they could do it. The owner Tom came out and looked at the issues and came up with a plan. A telescoping wrought iron gate and 37" wrought iron fence on top of the concrete wall. I can only say the gate and fence look FANTASTIC, and the gate so rolls smooth. I am so happy. I had to wait from July 2021 till February 2022, but it was worth it. The guys that installed the fence and gate were very nice and were total professionals and even made a cutout in the fence for my new mailbox. I would use Affordable Fence again. read more

Amazing service and work. We were looking for a company that repairs wooden fences in Stockton because ours was collapsing due to our neighbor digging a ditch way too close to the fence. I called and spoke to Kim. She was very pleasant and worked out a schedule that works with my schedule. Bill came by on time...even earlier since we got there early. We were thinking that the whole fence needed to be replaced but he suggested something better...repairing the fence with the same wood our fence had. He gave us a quote much lower than we had expected. They came by that same week, fixed the fence and emailed us the bill. The bill was exactly what we were quoted..no hidden charges or fees. Read this if you want to know how bad they really are. TLDR; Do not come here, call them, or even think about this fencing company unless you have nothing better to do but have your time wasted. You'll be treated like such. Shouldn't even be in business anymore. I called to request a quote for a replacement driveway gate. They said the earliest appointment was a week out, and I took it, for the time slot of 9am-10am. I was curious because their earlier reviews were good, and they're named Affordable... Not trying to spoil it lol but they're being completely sarcastic. The day comes for the quote. 9:00 hits, and nothing. I check my watch a little while later, 9:10, nothing. Keep in mind this company DID NOT COMMUNICATE with me. I call and asked what was going on. The lady answered that the girl was still in the office on her phone, and I asked why, because my appointment time slot is NOW. She said she'll leave as soon as she gets off the phone... No explanation. I hear the girl giggling away on her phone in the background. Already pretty ridiculous. I get a call at 9:31, from Kim, telling me that she'd be there in 10-15 minutes. I was already not happy, because I had an important work meeting requiring I leave before 10am sharp. You make an appointment, you stick to it. Not hard. So that meant she'd get here at 9:46 at the latest, I reluctantly agreed. I figured the crap would stop there... nope. Well, what do you know, 9:55 rolls around and nobody is here, no one has called, and it's time for me to leave. Kim Felix rolls up at 9:57, in the middle of my driveway mind you, so I can't get out even if I needed to. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I decided to give her another chance and be nice, politely telling I told her that I literally only had 3 minutes so she'd better make this quick. I am supposed to be leaving. (Leaving... RIGHT NOW.) She doesn't apologize, and doesn't acknowledge anything I said, and doesn't even peek at the gate. Okay, you don't want the info on the gate I'll force feed it to you since you clearly can't do your job. Even as an engineer, I am more forgiving than most. But this girl was EXTREMELY ridiculous. I told her I needed a 12-foot gate, sliding, 5 foot tall. A moment passes. Oh, it looks like the hungover zombie woke up. She grabs her tape measure and measures the height, oh what do you know IT'S 5 FOOT TALL. Seriously, the gall of this person. Keep in mind that I need to go. Anyway, I immediately inform her that I do not want a track sliding style gate. I wanted a cantilever or pillar/post mount. She says nothing and writes a few things on her notepad, and asks me how I would like the quote. Excuse me, did you hear anything I said? Because you didn't acknowledge anything. It's 10:00, and I'm leaving, so I told her to text me because I didn't even have time to give her my e-mail. She says nothing and gets in her car and leaves. Wouldn't even know when I'd get my quote. Wow. So much for trying to be nice, saying things with a nice tone and everything instead of scolding you which is what you needed. This is as unprofessional as I have seen a company get. I'm not sure what made Kim treat me as if I wasn't even worth her time, but it sure as hell wasn't me. Few days pass with no update, so I've pretty much written off this company. Well, just got a text quote. Kim decided she didn't want to listen to me, as if she's better than her customers. "To install a... We will pour ... of concrete for the gate to slide on..." I actually laughed at how ridiculous this was. Not only did you completely ignore me, but you specifically didn't give me the quote I asked for. And the quote was 3+ TIMES (300+%!) as much as another local contractor, who was nice, communicative, on-time, and able to keep up with me technically. This company was the exact opposite, and I'm surprised is still in business. You are not worth their time. Or is it the other way around? Yeah, lost track, or maybe both. I hate to add to the one star ratings but I think I am left with no other choice. Though their name is Affordable Fence, they are anything but. The staff could not care any less of your time. We used them and sadly oaid to have work done. I personally had to call and remind them of what i needed. Calling them is a joke. Whoever answers calls needs to be replaced immediately, she is as useless as they come. Or maybe she is worthy of this job, but she has yet to be trained on proper over-the-phone customer service. Keep in mind, you have been warned, if they say they will return your call, trust me when i say they will not. You will have to call them back over and over and over again just to get an answer. It amazes me that a company will spend time to do a site visit (by Billy who was very nice) provide an estimate (by Stephanie who was very nice) answer a few questions (by Tommy) from a customer and then become totally nonresponsive. I have called back twice to get the revised proposal I discussed with Tommy and still have not received anything. If this nonresponsive method of doing business is the way they operate before even getting a proposal to a customer, I would not want to be on the end of trying to resolve any issues during or after they complete the job. read more

I had the estimator come out the the jobsite to give us an estimate. He got it back to me within a couple of days. After getting two other estimates we decided to go with Affordable Fence. I called the estimator to schedule and got no response. I called the office and they said they would give him a message. I waited a couple of days and then called the estimator again and still no response. I wouldn't consider them reliable at this point and wouldn't recommend that anyone use them. read more

While on the business website I requested to be contacted for an estimate to replace my fence. I was promptly contacted by Stephanie who was very friendly, professional and helpful in assisting me. The workers arrived early to begin removing the old fence and replaced it with a beautiful wooden fence with black wroth iron gate. HORRIBLE COMPANY, DESTROYS LANDSCAPING DOESN'T APOLOGIZE I actually signed up for a Yelp account just so I could write about how terrible this company is - yup that's how pissed I am. If it were possible to give 0 stars I would. Hired these guys to rebuild our fence. Really wanted to go with another company but they never called me back and I was in a time crunch so I went with Affordable fence. Now the gal in the main office was really polite and the estimator Tom was nice over the phone and showed up real quick to do the estimate and offered to start the job pretty much the next day. So far so good. I come home from work on day 1 of the job to see a sweaty guy sitting with his shirt off and his ass hanging out of his pants. Just sitting there for all my neighbors to see. I go over to introduce myself, since I was not there when they got started, and he tells me they accidentally broke some of my bushes. He told me the fence just fell over on them without any warning. I told them my fiancé would be really sad since that was her favorite bush - what does the guy say?? I'm sorry?? NOPE. He says "of all the bushes you're telling me that one was her favorite?" REALLY? Now maybe these guys are plant people, fine, but at least apologize for ruining someone's property. Not to mention these are English rhododendrons that cost about $50-$75 a piece. They tell me there going to unload some lumber and then finish up tomorrow. So after they leave I go to survey the damage, first thing I see is they have decided to store their lumber ON TOP of some of my other bushes, alongside a giant piece of concrete from the post hole. I also noticed they broke branches off almost every single one of the bushes I have in my yard. Then my neighbor comes over and tells me he and his wife watched them shove the fence over on top of my bushes and then take a 2 hour lunch break - WITH THE FENCE STILL LAYING ON TOP OF MY BUSHES. Now rhododendrons are delicate plants they need some shade, acidic soil, special fertilizer, but the one thing they don't need is a 100 pound fence laying on top of them! So when Tom calls me to ask if the job is done I told him I have some concerns and that I'm upset the guys ruined a ton of my plants. He said he would deal with it accordingly and come by to take a look for himself at the damage. Well the next day comes along and I notice the fence is done and it looks good - thank God for that. But I notice that one of my princess lilies has apparently been vaporized into oblivion because it simply wasn't were it was growing 2 days ago. Guess that was an accident too. Then a guy shows up and it turns out to be Bill (maybe the owner?) he asks me to show him what's going on, so I start to show him all my broken bushes when he stops me - doesn't even look at all of them mind you - and tells me "whenever you build a fence bushes will be broken." So I decided to take him in the back and show him the rest of the destruction - remember that princess lily that magically disappeared? He then tells me "there hasn't been a plant growing there in a long time bud." SO NOW HE'S CALLING ME A LIAR. As soon as I figure out how to attach pictures to a review I'll upload some and you all can judge for yourselves if my bushes were "too close" to the fence and thus destined to be casualties of war. He offered to give me $100 discount or "fight him in court." Never once said sorry, never once said he would make sure his guys try to be careful. My advice to you is, if you have some landscaping that you need removed call these guys they'll come in like elephants and trample everything. If you like your yard and need a fence repaired call someone else. read more

A 50ft section of our fence went down with the Storm. I called a number of fencing companies and this one was the only one that could fix the fence right away. Also, one of the only companies that returned our phone calls. Kim was very friendly and sent me a quote and a very nice email. We needed it done Feb 8 because we are moving out of state and they had it done by Feb 1. Would absolutely use them again if we were staying in California. Also, Tom was able make some last minute adjustments to my gate since I had altered my yard after I made the order and they were able to get it all done in one day! I had called around so I had the best price that came in for estimate wrought iron fence and yes there is the cheapest but tommy service wasn't the best! Every time I called tommy to ask about the contract it was never near what we discuss about in contract so it made me nervous. When I call to make an appt. to come he alway talking about he have to meet with his attorney, which made second guessing should I even go with this company. He probably get sue all the time (i don't know I'm assuming) so finally I made time to meet him so he can actually show us what we wanted and so we can get the work started. But when I got there, there so cal new office was so hard to find didn't go over what we would like to have done but just told us that it would look like the one he have in stock. Which the contract didn't even state the main things we wanted on our fence. So he said he will revised the contract and email us again. So we waited a couple days and he finally email us back after I called and ask him about it. This time we were for sure to sign the contract and was ready to meet up and pay partial of the job until all work is done but when I called first time my phone had bad line he could understand me because I was getting cut off so it disconnected. So I called again it did the same thing. So I tried again he just hung up on me. So I called again went straight to voice mail. I would say there company is Not reliable at all! I had an appointment to get an estimate on my home, after waiting around for 30 minutes I thought to call and see if the gentleman was on his way. The receptionist answered and told me she would call and find out what the delay was, another 30 minutes go by. I finally get a call back only to find out that the estimator had already been to my home and looked at the fence. Not only did I waste my time sitting around for an appointment that already happened but they didn't take into account that there were a couple of other areas I had questions about. Almost a week later and I am still waiting for the estimate that I was told I would have days ago. Today I called at 2:30pm asking for an update and was told that the person who looked at my fence was in a meeting and would give me a call as soon as it was done, when asked how long she thought it would be she replied "About 30 minutes". Got to say I agree with these reviews. Mr Williams is a terrible salesman. I called as no one arrived to the scheduled estimate. When he did arrive he told me he misplaced the schedule. He took measurements and quoted me 2,800 for a front door security gate. When I asked him for some design estimates he told me to look some up and call him. The next company I called were courteous, professional, showed me a number of designs, and then gave me a quote 600 dollars cheaper. read more

I called a few companies to get bids and decide to go with Affordable Fencing out of Stockton, SO GLAD I did. The stood behind everything. I found some small cracking in the mow strip. Most companies would have said too bad, they didn't they took it all out and redid it. I had them install an RV gate, move some fence post in the back the previous owner put in wrong and a fence around my front yard. Billy ROCKED, even Tommy came out and kicked butt. WIll be using them again, and I even have their sign on my fence so everyone in the neighborhood know about them. read more

After getting 5 bids/estimates to have a 4 foot hi cyclone fence I picked this company. Called for a appointment, on 3-27-13 and a gentleman called me back in 15 min to set up the appointment. He showed up at the correct time, 3-28-13 the next day. He came out, and because I didn't know what to do in an area, he had suggestions, which I liked. The measurements were taken, and Billy, said he'd email me the his bid. I received the bid the next morning. Nice fast service on the part of this company. I was still waiting for other bids, so didn't contact them back until 4-18-13. I called and wrote (email) that I wanted them to do the job. Received call and they said they could do the job on Friday. QUICK SERVICE. Friday came, and they had to reschedule for Saturday 4-20-13, because they hadn't finished a job on Friday. Saturday, John and Don showed up on Saturday 4-20-13 at the right time. John was extremley nice and walked thru what I wanted again. Very conscious about what I wanted and the reason I was having the fence built. They started to work immediately. Very nice people, and the fence was completed by 3:00.
