I was given an high estimate for adding 3 sections of fence and installing my gate. I asked him if he would include fixing another gate that had a broken hinge, he agreed. I paid him for the job as he requested when all he had to do was replaced the hinge. Unfortunately, as you might expect, he now refuses to replace the hinge. Reached out to have a gate installed and he was real responsive until he go the deposit. Now I can't get ahold of him and in the process of filing a police report etc. Was recommended to me by a friend that had used him a few years ago without issue. My friend reached out and has had a hard time as well getting ahold of him and when he does, it seems he is spaced out and on drugs. read more

I reached out about getting a quote to add on a rolling gate door on my mother's fence to enclose it so my daughter can play freely without access to the street. Mike seemed like he cared but never followed up, never called me back, he knows my mother he didn't come by to give us a quote or anything. He opened a restaurant on 41 and just forgot about his other business. Just because I live in Naples manor I guess we don't have enough money to get his attention. And we go way back too. I would give ZERO stars if i could... I called this company on 9/14/2020 for a fence repair due to a fallen tree from my yard into a neighbors from the tropical storm. He asked I send images - which I provided 2. 2 days later I texted then again 3 days later " status" then called and he asked me to text him now so that my message would come to the top of his sms messages.. to which I did.... here it is 9/23/20. STILL NOT A RESPONSE. Extremely poor customer service. Lack of follow through. I cannot speak of quality as I never even recieved a quote for the job. My husband called Affordable Fence (Mike) about the fence he put up for our neighbor. The fence was installed OVER THE PROPERTY LINE. In thus causing the fence to be on my property. Mike told us there was nothing he can do, that he installed it based on what the home owner told him. He sent over the homeowner plan and it CLEARLY shows that the fence is over the property line and he also asked for us to send over our survey which we did. We then called back to make sure he received the survey and had a chance to go over it when he told my husband you're crying over 16 inches. What kind of customer service is that? And he clearly just admitted that the fence is in fact over the property line. Don't do work with this company. He just takes the money and run. Leaving a horrible job behind. DON'T CALL AFFORDABLE FENCE I found Affordable online and called 4 weeks ago. I told Mike what my problem was and he asked me to send him pictures which I did. When I followed up the next day he said he would look at the pictures and get back to me with a price. He never called back. When I tried to reach out to him it went to voicemail until last week when I used my wife's phone to call(different number), and he answered. Mike told me the price to repair the upper rial and fix my gate would be $425. I agreed and he said he would have someone out here by the end of the week. You guessed it no call from Affordable fence. This morning I got through and Mike said he didn't want the job. If I was told that 4 weeks ago I would have found someone else by now. Michael at Affordable fence installed our fence 6 months ago. One entire side of the fence blew over on its side during Irma and was the only thing on our property that failed. Six weeks after the storm I figured that things were getting back to normal and tried to contact Michael to ask him to take a look at our fence and maybe give us some guidance. We were not looking to have anything done for free, only for him to take a look at the failed fence and if possible help us out with a game plan to make it right. I called Michael repeatedly over a few weeks and only go his voice mail which was full and could not take anymore messages. I texted repeatedly and never got so much as Boo ! I finally got him to respond after an email I sent stating how unhappy I was with his lack of communication even two months after Irma . When I finally got to talk to Michael he sounded like he was ready to fight !..He ask me to tell him what I wanted and why I was calling..I got three words into my problem and he blew up and went into a belligerent fit of anger and stated that "If you are thinking about asking me to do anything for free..you can forget it because I don't do anything for free" He also told me that It was too far for him to travel just to look at my fence and it was a waste of his time. Judging by his full voicemail, Lack of communication and odd uncontrollable episode of anger I got the feeling that he had lots of angry customers and was in crisis. I found the time last week to dismantle the failed fence and reinstall. during the process (and not to my surprise) I learned that the post concrete was grossly mixed improperly to the point of dishonesty. The concrete just below the surface was dry packed (crumbled in my hand) bagged concrete mix that had never received adequate water and was never mixed. This faulty installation of post concrete allowed the fence post to literally cut through the dry packed improperly mixed concrete and fall over on its side. I wish I would have seen the bad reviews scattered all over the internet and had never called Michael at Affordable fence. His lack of communication, Verbal abuse and his absolute dishonest fence installation should disqualify him and his company from ever doing business again. Compared to Home Depot, Lowe's and a local fence company his price was reasonable and affordable. His company completed the install of 6' HIGH PRIVACY fence very quickly and efficiently. Michael Mercado the owner of this company, installed my fence as well as many other neighbors in my community a few years ago. Since hurricane Irma I have tried calling him and texting him six times in the last three weeks. He informed me to send him pictures of the damage to my fence, and he told me he would come later that day to repair it on numerous occasions. How frustrating it is to be jerked around. He hardly ever answers his phone and does not answer text messages. What good is a business that forgets about his customers after the sale. DO NOT CALL AFFORDABLE FENCE & SCREEN. You will never find an answer or service after you give MIke your last payment. I ordered a fence for $4000 and he never gave me the time for the instlation, he did it during the Memorial long weekend when I was out of town. I came back and I found the fence installed and all the posts scratched and not level at the front. When I sent him photos he said he will send a painter to fix it. As for the unleveled part, his excuse was my land is not level. He then sent me a guy to spray the posts. He only got to the first one because his can was empty and he told me he will send cans the following day but never did until today. I then asked him about the permit and I never got it. He never hang the permit on the fence and I do not have any idea how the Collier County signed it when there is no support for the chain link for 10 ft. This hasn't been fixed either. I asked him to give me the support and I will do it but he didn't give it to me. Now he blocked my number so it goes directly to voice mail but when I use another number he answers, and when he hears my voice he pretends there is a bad connection and hangs up. I forgot to mention that he only installed 4 rollings instead of 6 rollings although we have discussed it when he got the job. DON'T LOSE YOUR MONEY WITH A LYING OWNER .. RUN FAR FROM AFFORDABLE FENCE!!! I called Mike and set up a quote in January 2016. I explained to him that the quote I needed was for a 7 acre property, all fenced in that had damage from the recent storms in several different areas around the property. Approximately, 245 feet of fence needed replacement. When he arrived at the property, I drove him around on the golf cart showing him which areas I needed replaced. Mike suggested to me two times in the first 5 minutes that the entire fence around the property needed to be replaced. (without even seeing it all) It appeared to me that he may have thought by coming to a 7 acre property that he could convince me that it all needed to be replaced, which is so far from the truth. The rest of the fencing was completely fine. After I told Mike I didn't want the entire fence replaced on 2 different occasions and as I was explaining to him what I wanted replaced, he said to me, "I don 't have time for this." I couldn't believe that a business man would act this way. Really??? I drove him back to his car and he left. He forgot his measuring tool and came back about an hour later. He stated to me at that time, "I can look at it now." I said, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!? He tried to lie and say that he didn't know it was a 7 acre property and he had another quote. Complete lie because I told him on the phone it was a 7 acre property. Very unprofessional, rude and a waste of my time. I'm sure if I would have allowed him to replace the entire fence, he would've had time for me. My opinion...call someone else. read more

I recommend Affordable Fence. I had them install a fence around my property in the Estates that was 75ft by about 630ft. The sides and back were chain link and the front was aluminum with a gate opener. We called him a couple months ago as one of the few companies we had called for quotes and after getting some recommendations from friends, we called Micheal back. He came out and gave us a detailed quote with all our requests and a time table. The parts came in right when he said they would and the price was met. He also helped me find a good company to clear my lot line which I had had trouble finding. The fence took all of three days to install and the permit was signed off the day after the gate opener was installed (about 3 days after the fence was done due to holiday weekend). He also helped with a couple other issues including tearing down part of an old fence that was in the way. I have read the reviews here and I honestly feel like I worked with a different company. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone. read more
