DO NOT USE!!!! See the photos I've attached of the movers packed. I provided BRAND NEW boxes from UHaul. I had to re-pack countless boxes because they weren't taped, did not have packing material, and would not make the trip from Michigan to California. This company is not professional. I spoke to Jeremey, and I asked for a deadline to get this resolved, and then me immediately escalated the conversation by calling me a fraud (despite the photos provided) and threatened to send me to their legal department (see screenshot). We moved at the end of June 2017. We thought Carlos and his team would be great... Did they get the one truck full of some of our items from the old house to the new? Yes. Were they careful with our items? Yes. But...then, we had a few hiccups, of which the last was the one that would make me not recommend their services to others. Things that went wrong: 1.They arrived late. We did receive phone calls updating us, but still was frustrating as we expected to be done moving by the evening. 2. They showed up with 3 movers and we were apparently quoted for 2 movers. At no point was it asked if it was ok, or anything, and it wasn't mentioned until we were discussing payment, and Carlos told us that the discount from Angie's List included only 2 movers. 3. Carlos and his team didn't have the supplies to wrap furniture and didn't have enough moving blankets. In fact, as they unloaded the truck, I noticed that they used some of our throw blankets to protect the furniture without asking if that was ok. 4. Their truck wasn't big enough to fit all of our items in one trip. We were moving from a smaller house about 750 sq ft. We were asked over the phone how big our house was and approximately how many boxes we had. Carlos and his team made one trip with a full truck. Then we filled our cars and still had to go back the next day for the rest of our stuff. He offered that they would go make another trip for the rest of the items for the additional hourly charge. 5. Payment - this was the one that killed it for us. As others have mentioned, we were quoted an affordable price over the phone. We had a discount through Angie's List. The woman on the phone told us that we would be able to use that discount and quoted us accordingly. When all was said and done and it was time to pay, Carlos told us it was going to be $400 over what was quoted to us. We talked to him about it and he was not budging on what was quoted over the phone vs what he was charging us. We tried to negotiate since they were late and ran out of supplies at their previous job and since we had to load our cars with items and still go back for the rest. He would not compromise, and actually was upset that we were even questioning the issue. I have no problem paying for good service. I have no problem tipping for good service (I still tipped his team even though Carlos screwed us on pricing). I do have a problem with being quoted one amount and then being told to pay a DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT amount. He even had the audacity to ask us not to write a poor review. He clearly knows that what he is doing is wrong. Yes, he and his team work hard, but he should be upfront about the cost. It is not ok to quote one price and have such a large difference between your quote and actual cost. Customer service goes a long way, but he and his company certainly lacked in that area. read more

Used them for the first time today. Booked on short notice to pick up a dining room set from storage. Victor and Javier were prompt, careful, polite, and very accommodating in moving the pieces in a couple different locations in our dining room to find the best setup for the room. They took great care with our furniture, and they worked quickly. Highly recommend-- will definitely use them again! read more

Pros: Arrive on time.. Available on short notice. Know how to assemble furniture ands beds well. Trustworthy.. Strong men.. 3 workers = faster move. Mexican but speak good English They don't take break until job is done. They are insured. Cons.. They are expensive.... they charge by the hour.. the first hour is $300 and $130 per hour after that. The moving truck they load the furniture onto is SMALL. If you are moving from a big house into another house (example) a 4 bedroom 3 bedroom about 3000 sq ft. They will have to make 2 trips from which means more working hours= more money for them. They broke my bed post to my canopy bed but they deducted the cost of damage from their cost of the job. Five stars for Carlos and his guys! We just moved here from Florida. Our closing here was delayed so our van line mover had to unload us into a storage unit. On very short notice, Affordable Moving Services was able to accommodate our needs, were professional, and as their name says, affordable. They handled our belongings with care and really went the extra mile moving our things from the storage unit to our home once we finally closed. We had a great experience with them and would recommend this company to anyone who needs honest and reliable movers. read more

Please DO NOT use affordable movers! We had Carlos and two men move us from our home in Berkley to our home in Rochester. One of the items they moved was our brands new mattress. During the move our mattress was damaged. We contacted Carlos immediately and let him know we had a concern. Carlos then let us know that he bent the mattress in order to get it down our stairs. After admitting to bending the mattress we asked him to please allow us to file a claim through his insurance company to receive some money to replace the mattress. He would not provide us with any of his insurance information. Carlos has been extremely unprofessional, unresponsive and has left us with a damage item. read more

Carlos and his partner were great - it only took them an hour practically to unload our Relo-cube (it's like a 6' x 7' x 8' container). They moved fast, and were very courteous and careful with fragile items. They even came out on a Sunday morning. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Bought an armoire and 2 small dressers from a craigslist ad. Recieved a quote from affordable moving services of $200 to move them from upstairs bedroom of the seller to my home. When affordable moving services delivered to my home, they refused to put it upstairs because it was too heavy. I recommended having another employee come to assist but the movers said " they are on another job." I recommended they return later at their convenience with enough people to move it, they refused. Their company is 2 miles from my house so it would have been fairly easy. In the end, the armoire is sitting in my foyer because the professional moving company refused to take it upstairs because it was "too heavy" and offerred no solutions. I now have to hire a professional moving company to movie it upstairs. To add insult to injury, when my wife mentioned that the quote was to move it to the bedroom, one of the movers ( an owner/operator i believe as he answered all of our calls to the company) said that his price was cheap and commented that we probably paid $1000 for the furniture as if we can afford more and had any bearing on the quote he provided. He also said "i did what i said and delivered it to your house." This guy has no idea how hard we work and frugal we are. Did he forget we bought used furniture off of craigslist? The owner was asking for a tip, "a big tip" to be exact before they moved 1 piece of furniture. With the right business approach, i would have paid more if i felt it was deserving but it felt like a scam from the beginning. We predicted early on they were going to pull something and decided to just pay them to get them out of the house. The furniture was still in the truck when they refused to take it upstairs. No effort whatsoever. We were in a rush because the sellers were moving and we should have done more research on movers. Looking at it now, i dont believe they are licensed.
