Scheduling and the office manager, Dinorah, were exceptional. I firmly believe that you are not just cared for by the doctor you see but by the entire practice, and they excel at this. Dinorah placed my IV and did as painless a job as I've ever experienced with that. The person performing the MRI was awesome. He and Dinorah made sure I was comfortable. They gave me headphones and earplugs to protect my ears while the machine worked while also being able to hear the instructions regarding my breathing and the Netflix show. That's right. I was able to watch a Netflix show while the scans were performed (they took about 45 minutes), and there was a progress bar at the bottom of the screen so I could see what was going on and how much longer I had. When I didn't know what to watch on Netflix, Dinorah recommended a show, and it was highly entertaining. Despite the show, I was so comfortable that I almost fell asleep. Dr. Cheong read my scans, and since he is trained in Cardiology, he was able to talk to me about them. It was really nice to get real-time feedback and learn that there were no underlying issues causing the thing we were investigating. I'm just one of those people that have it, and this was the best news I could have received considering the circumstances. I was relieved. He was very, very thorough, showing me everything and explaining it in terms I could understand. He is caring and fantastic, and who doesn't love a doctor that loves Hello Kitty and Pokémon? Seriously, he was also patient, kind, and caring. He answered all of my questions and was very reassuring. The practice cares deeply about the comfort of their patients, and they had some nice little touches that spoke to this. They had a lavender essential oil spray that Dinorah mixed up, and they used it in the MRI room to make it a more relaxing and spa-like experience. Seriously, I felt so relaxed when I got out of there I was ready to take a nap. Also, I had to come to the appointment without having my morning coffee. When I was done, Dinorah made me an awesome espresso with biscotti. I will definitely come here the next time I need a cardiac MRI. I would come back here just to visit with everyone in the practice with whom I interacted. They are that great! I asked him flat out if he was going to have his knee done who would he use and he instantly said, " That's easy. It's Stephan Kreuzer '. I've operated with so many Doctors that you learn who is good, great, and excellent and he is the best". My experience with every touch was unlike other practices. He has built his own ecosystem, and everyone there, from the top down knows why you are there and why they are two. I was an out of town patient and they make it so easy that other people should know about it. After surgery at his own surgical center, you drive 800 yards and stay at a nice Holiday Inn Express and see his PA two days later and head home. He allowed me to use telemedicine appoints on the front and backend which literally saved my 12 hours of driving and a hotel each time. I abandoned my walker as soon as I got home and have been getting better and better ever since. I had absolutely zero pain from the knee although the incision itselt felt very tight and at four weeks is much better.That was the only limiting part of the procedure. In general, all of the doctors said that this problem could not be permanently fixed, but they could help me manage my pain. I will never know if I was responsible for not getting the care I needed because I chose doctors with the wrong medical specialties, nevertheless less I decided to take a different approach. I called Dr Mark Prasarn an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. After Speaking with Dr. Prasarn, I left his office feeling inspired. Nothing was fixed yet, but I was filled with hope. Dr. Prasarn said the cause of my back pain was Spondilolithesis. He also said that it wasn't as bad as some others that he has seen in the past and that the surgery could fix my problem. I really appreciate the fact that he spent a considerable amount of time with me that day. Dr. Prasarn has a very methodical approach regarding care. He first recommended that I try physical therapy, if there was little to no change in my pain level we would then move on to pain management. If the pain level persists, we would try surgery. It is good game plan for him to start with the least invasive strategies until he could provide a decision that matched my personal needs. I did eventually have surgery. After just two weeks from the day of my surgery the pain was completely gone. I waited four months to write this review because I wanted to see if there would be any recurring issues concerning my back pain. I am happy to report that I feel great!! I have not experienced any pain (nothing!). For me this surgery has been life changing. I can't tell you all the special accommodations that were made for me just to take a walk. I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Prasarn a very good doctor and really a very nice person. He has the credentials and it is very obvious that he has a strong desire for helping people. Literally everything to help my pain. I have spent so much money in pain management. All they did for me today was give me pain pills which I didn't want at all bc I can't even take them at work. I want it fixed. Not a bandaid. He said my extreme pain was "Headaches." Really? I know my own body and this isn't a headache or even a migraine. I wasted $100 and time off my job to be pushed off to another doctor. Yet again. I have been doing this dance from spinal to neuro, to spinal to neuro. I felt 0 sympathy or validation, like I was just another $. The only people who were nice to me were his PA, and the assistants. They were kind and actually listened. They validated my concerns. That said, my experience at Star Imaging was exceptional, especially compared to another large imaging company that took three months to deliver results and even lost my images at one point. Speed I called on a Friday, had my appointment on Monday, and my doctor received the images by Tuesday--remarkably fast. Location Conveniently located off I-10, surrounded by numerous dining options--a plus if you're fasting before the procedure. Front Desk & Intake The office was stocked with refreshments and well-organized, with minimal wait times due to efficient scheduling. The front desk staff, Vincy, was friendly, professional, and had my insurance details sorted before my visit. Unlike other clinics that leave patients to figure out coverage, they proactively verified it in advance. Before I arrived, the technician, Jerin, even called to check for allergies to contrast dye, demonstrating their thoroughness and concern for patient safety. Their pricing was also significantly more affordable than other imaging centers. Prep & Briefing Jerin, the technician and owner, welcomed me warmly, explained the procedure clearly, and reassured me throughout. He arranged for Aaron, a skilled paramedic, to handle my IV--painlessly on the first attempt, unlike past experiences where multiple attempts were needed by other nurses for my family members. Procedure: CT Scan with Contrast This was a procedure I requested from my PCP to run a diagnostics and see if everything looks good on the inside (btw gut health is everything). Preventative care at my request (on-demand) is what I'd like to think of it as and this was my first time so I was a little nervous. The staff made the whole process seamless, effortless and put my concerns to rest with reassurance and covering the process from E2E. The contrast injection was painless, and while it created a warm sensation, it wasn't uncomfortable. The machine guided me through the breathing exercises, and Jerin captured over 200 images in just five minutes--much quicker than expected. Post-Scan Observation Since I was the only patient at the time, I had a relaxed conversation with Jerin and Aaron while waiting to ensure no allergic reaction to the contrast. Post-Procedure & Discharge Jerin explained when my doctor would receive the images and recommended drinking plenty of water (I'd say 5-8 bottles of water is good but that's how much I drink daily anyways) to flush out the iodine. If you have muscle spasms after the procedure it is caused due to iodine and not enough water (my thoughts at least) so do not become worried. At discharge, Vincy and Jerin made sure I was comfortable, offered water, and even suggested nearby restaurants since I had been fasting. I hope to never come back but if I had to then my choice would be Star Imaging. My experience with them was far superior to another imaging center in Sugar Land. Their efficiency, attentiveness, and quality of care set a high standard, and I hope other providers take note. This is the kind of service all healthcare facilities should strive for and I say this as a former healthcare compliance auditor of provider facilities and a current healthcare product director.
