I originally hired One Call Handyman of Live Oak - aka Craig Hurst - and what a joke! He just wanted to flip the house, be in and out, and thought no one would check the quality of his work. After I continually corrected his and his team's sub-par work, he quit and never even said anything. Could one be any more unprofessional? Needless to say, I was in a hurry to get the house completed for a new renter and JB Roofing was up for the task. They came in, corrected the terrible quality work from Craig Hurst and finished the job in 7 days including drywall, painting, hanging ceiling fans, installing closet systems, installing barn doors, etc. You name it, their team did it and did a high quality job. They also made sure to check with me that everything was done to my satisfaction before final payment was made. I do have high standards and I appreciated their effort to make sure that everything was done properly. To top it off, I am across the country from the property in FL and they worked seamlessly with me through phone calls and on-site video chats to make sure I was happy with their work. The last week has been a nightmare. Brian and his crew from Southern Miracles Surfacing did sloppy work, cut wood for cement forms on top of a flower pot, one worker walked around barefoot leaving stains on our pool deck, left stakes from cement forms in ground, washed paint brushes and cement trowels on both sides of our house causing it to splatter on our house, HVAC unit, fencing and generator and left a mess in our pool and sat on our patio furniture with cushions full of dirt/paint & sweat. We have spent numerous hours cleaning up the mess. Once Dan and his crew showed up to install pool enclosure we were hoping things would be better but unfortunately things did not go that way. Dan never communicated to us, until after the frame was installed, that we could not have the picture view we contracted because of engineering. We had no choice but to have them finish. They did not follow safe work practices. One of the workers fell off a ladder while trying to hang the gutter and the gutter, two ladders and a ladder plank went crashing into our pool and one worker followed the ladder into the shallow end of the pool almost getting hit in the head by the ladder plank. The next day they continued working in the same way and I told Dan how upsetting it was to see what happened the day before. Dan told me then not to watch. Poor communication and lack of respect for our home and to us as customers and Dan didn't honor his word. We wasted a lot of money and wish we would never have done business with Dan and every time we go outside to our pool we will be reminded of this experience. Lakeside came highly recommended, but after this experience we would NEVER recommend Lakeside Aluminum or Southern Miracles Surfacing to anybody!

Our home's…read more30foot long E wall had a lot of visible block-mortar lines and 'shadows - like looking at a map on the wall of the block shapes and mortar lines and paths- but NOT ONE CRACK. This knowledgeable and kind pro (w a solid engineering background) explained this was not a stairstep cracking situation (again, NO CRACKS). But rather the well-worn dull flat paint film was revealing what was underneath. Differing expansion and contraction rates of the three 'actors in the play' {blocks, stucco and mortar} was causing what we saw... resulting in it all being so visible (the mortar paths and block shapes). But AGAIN.. NO cracks. The solution? A properly applied high quality elastomeric paint would protect this E wall and essentially serve to bind it all together, on top of it all. We had bought the house in 2020 and it had been freshly painted but w a rather thin contractor-grade latex.. which hid these otherwise visible patterns (nothing dishonest on part of the sellers.. they just painted the house is all). Wow! Nobody out for our hard-earned $$ here,, no siree! [Another company, Stable Foundations (Ft White FL), had also been out and was recommending 6 helical piers to amount of some $11 to $13 thousand dollars. One relevant factor here (in their defense) in this glaring difference of recommendations is, I believe, experience and knowledge. But there IS the solid fact of zero cracks; just visible mortar and block patterns due to the faded thin paint film in need of updating]. Well which one would YOU trust and put your confidence in for having your best interests in 1st place?
