I took advantage of the various promotions from Uber Eats (delivery only). As a result I have ordered from this restaurant three times already this month. The first time we ordered the following and all the dishes were to die for: Sambrosa - fried dumpling with seasoned beef, lamb, herbs and spices Bolani Sabzi - fried turnover with spinach, herbs, and spices Chicken Qourma - tender chicken with mixed vegetables, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, herbs, and spices with rice, bread and salad Firni - pudding topped with crushed pistachios The second time we ordered the following: Bolani Kachalou - fried turnover with potatoes, herbs, and spices Lamb Shank Kabuli - tender lamb shank with Afghan rice, carrots and raisins Spinach Sabzi - spinach cooked with chickpeas, garlic, onions, tomatoes, green peppers, herbs and spices The lamb shank was to die for and the bone marrow tasted so good. Today my other half was in the mood for lamb so I ordered the lamb shank kabuli again along with the chef combo which consisted of lamb chop, lamb tikka, chicken and fish over rice. The chef combo is probably my least favorite because it's more rice than meats. The meats provided were pretty much a tasting instead of a full kebab (e.g. chicken and fish). One of these days we will visit the restaurant in person. read more

We got this delivered at work, Uber eats, I typically love this type of food, however maybe it is best to have it at the restaurant directly. The food was okay, and it was safe to say it came with a lot of food this combo. The salmon was overcooked and bland, pretty much everything in it was bland, except for the rice and lamb chop, it was thin and fatty. The chicken seemed overcooked as well, it was hard to cut into. The kofta was pretty good, a lot of flavor, small size. The salad it came with, looked so sad. A few pieces of lettuce, carrots and cucumber, that thing couldn't feed half a person. The white sauce tasted like sour buttermilk ranch. After we all ate, we felt awful, heavy, like our chest had some major acid reflux wont be getting this again. read more

My partner and I got delivery and really enjoyed our dishes. The Chef's Combo Kebab was really tasty and large. It was a great way to try a lot of different things. It was a smidgen too salty, but I would definitely order again since the flavors were so good. I kind of wish it had come with a veggie or any other side option. Fish kebabs n rice with white sauce is delicious, will definitely order again, wish they gave 2 white sauce instead of one.

The food was mediocre. The bathroom was filthy (if their bathroom was dirty and that's what's visible to the public, imagine the kitchen and what's not visible). The service was atrocious. The old man in the front was rude and told me the food was going to be at least 5 minutes late. No apology, no thank you for waiting. I had asked for paper plates and they didn't have (strange that a dining establishment has no paper plates). Apathy is one thing, but they appear to have contempt towards their customers and act like they're doing you a favor by providing you with their mediocre meals. Never again. read more

Ordered from here and the food was beyond horrible. The lamb tikka was drier than lumps of coal, the white sauce was glorified stale mayonnaise, and one of my orders of Bolani sabzi was missing. Honestly, don't bothering going or ordering from here. Food was pretty amazing!! I had the hummus appetizer with bread and the shrimp kebab over rice with bread with a mango lassi which was all very good. They don't serve alcohol but I did see a guy who brought his own and served himself under the table. Ambiance was simple, place was small and the Afghan music was enjoyable. I wouldn't call it date friendly really but my wife had a nice time. She had the lamb kebab and the beef sambosa (not samosa) which were very good. Also took a baklava home but haven't tried it yet. I've been ordering through Uber Eats, and came across them during the lock-down. Their food is delicious! Lots of flavor, and large portions ensure at least 2+ meals out of one entree (for me). My favorite is the Chicken Qourma, we also love the Combo Kebabs, Sabzi Spinach, and Bolani Sabzi. There's so much more of the menu I'd like to try. The original spot was first in Jackson Heights. Me and my family used to always eat there. Many great memories. The food is delicious. Simple and just tasty. The owner is extremely sweet and humble. He then moved to 259 Hillside (end of Queens and beginning of Long Island) I still eat at least once every week. Definitely a regular for me. 10/10 would recommend. Waited about 10 minutes before anyone even greeted us as we walked in and stood at the counter. I ended up saying, "excuse me" to give them a hint so we could be seated -- even though one of the two people saw us as he walked out of the kitchen, facing towards us. Should have left at that moment because it set up for a sour experience from the get go. Took another 10-15 minutes for orders to be taken, and another +30 minutes before the food came out; we were never checked on after we got our food (actually ended up having to self serve by getting a bottle of water out of the mini fridge ourselves). The appetizers were cold and most likely reheated because they didn't taste freshly made; food was lukewarm and the lamb tikka was very "rough" - couldn't even cut it with the knife; never had such tiny pieces of lamb tikka. Beyond the nonexistent service and really bad food was their adherence to Covid regulations--they had a sign up saying "Indoor dining 12 person capacity"; there were 13 people dining inside, PLUS 4-6 people standing online at certain times. Obviate there's no concern for the safety of their patrons since they aren't following any rules except wearing a mask. Avoid it, take your business elsewhere. read more

I am by no means an expert in Afghani cuisine, but I absolutely LOVE the food here. It's not spicy yet very flavorful. The food is always fresh and clean, warm, and very satisfying. The portion sizes are big and hearty. You will feel very nourished lol. My favorite thing to order in is the chicken kofta kabab with rice and salad. It is such a classic. I have been ordering from this restaurant since 2010 so I am a regular! Even during COVID, when tons of restaurants closed down, this place stayed open and fed my family several times. I ordered my food on Grubhub at 8:33pm. The estimated time of delivery that immediately appeared was 10:08. If I had known that it would take 90minutes, I would have ordered from somewhere else. The range ended up changing to 10:05 to 10:15. I called the restaurant at 10:08, and was told the delivery man just left and should be there in 10 minutes. By 10:27pm, I was on the phone with Grubhub to complain that my order hadn't arrived and at 10:30, the delivery man shows up. The food itself was still somewhat warm, but the food was average. I ordered the chicken kebob. The chicken had flavor, but the rice warm barely seasoned. My friend's order was a kebob combo, and it was supposed to come with bread--which of course was missing. His food average too. Was not worth the wait and I will definitely not order from here again. I gave it two stars for the food. read more

I am Afghan and I've been to many restaurants and this place kind of disappointed me. We came in to take out and the lady at the front did not acknowledge us, I don't know if she was an employee or not but it was confusing to us. We ordered rice, bamyan, baudinjan, which is okra and eggplant and a baklava. The bamyan and eggplant were decent, the rice could have been less oily and hotter when we came to pick it up. I feel as if for the price we paid we could have gotten more or at-least had hot rice. (We ordered a side of rice, bamya, baudinjan, and baklava for 27 dollars!) But it was the end of the night so it could have been the reason why it wasn't hot? the baklava was about 6 dollars ! And it was one piece but to be fair Afghan baklava pieces are bigger than Greek or Turkish baklava. Overall the Bamyan was good and egg plant, they definitely made it the Afghan way. I'm picky with afghan food personally, maybe if you're not Afghan, you're going to like this a lot. I'd still have to try the meat one day. This place was amazing, my family and I went here on a Saturday Night around 10:30PM, and they were still kind enough to serve as, even as their last customers were leaving. We got the menus immediately as we sat down, and the server took our order as soon as we were ready. The food was sublime, words don't do justice, every bit of it was like biting into a new emotion or exploring a new country. Word of advice to anyone eating here, TRY THE HUMMUS, it's spectacular, and the server was amazing, served everything timely, and was very kind.
