Great spot for shish kebabs!! The food was freshly made and was delicious! I had halal type foods before and they have been greasy but this restaurant, that was not the case! Service was great! You simply order at the front and have a seat anywhere, and the waiter will bring out your food once ready! Atmosphere is okay. Will definitely return here!

Came here during Ramadan an hour before iftar time for takeout. Gentlemen that was working there was very patient and polite. There was no one here at the time but assuming it would pick up later in the evening. They are open till 2AM which may just be during Ramadan. They have plenty of tables where they can accommodate large parties. Food was great. Same taste as the one located in Fresh Meadows.

3.5 stars Bakhtar is an Afgani halal restaurant which serves mostly kebabs but also burgers. We had to find street parking, but apparently there is parking in the back according to their menu. We had chicken nuggets with french fries, a rice platter with beef tikka kebab, and a mix platter with beef tikka, chicken kofta, and chicken tikka kebabs. The food comes with complimentary salad, which was nice and fresh. The green sauce and white sauce is pretty good. I usually don't like chicken nuggets, but this one was pretty good. Not the same as the American type. They are made of real pieces of chicken and has a smooth crispy exterior (not thick breading). The platters were ok, but I had better kebabs. The beef tikka was on the tough side, but after reheating the leftovers they were a bit on the soft and mushy side. I prefer the chicken tikka out of the kebabs we tried. Ask for qabeli if you want the carrots and raisins with the rice. Their bread is excellent though.

Randomly decided to stop by here. Took about 20 minutes for my to go order to be ready. I got the beef tikka and chicken kofta and an ayran drink. The white sauce that came with it wasn't the best, but the meat and rice was fabulous. The beef was a little spicy and everything tasted freshly grilled on a real flame. The rice was so buttery and had great flavor. I'll definitely be coming back.

I'm Afghan. I love my food. But this place needs serious improvement (based on other reviews too). The first thing that went wrong was my brother's order. He wanted beef kofta kabab and they ran out so they decided they would just give him beef and lamb tikka without asking us. When we got to the restaurant they had already done it so we were like okay, whatever, because we were hungry. Then they forgot the extra bread we ordered for our nephew and they never even wrote it down because it wasn't on the receipt, but we said it twice. Then the food...the lamb and beef tikka tasted really old, chewy, and kind of like...flour? It was super odd. I also had ordered beef tikka and chicken tikka but they gave me chicken kofta instead. At least the chicken kofta was fresh and tasted good. I tried my friend's chicken tikka and it was a little dry. The rice didn't impress me but it was decent. The white sauce was my favorite part because it's delicious. The chutney is a little too watered down for me. It's just okay. I just have to only give this place a 2.5 because you have to communicate with your customers and your red meat is horrible. Please improve the quality! The guy at the front counter was nice but the food is more important.

This place should be 0 stars. I wish i could report these guys to the NYS Health and Hygiene department as the was a "cockroach" inside my food platter. Spent a lot of money at this place and was a waste. Not up to the standards and wish you all luck if you end up eating here! Pathetic place... this location will have a special visitor from NYS soon.

Nice, spacious spot with plenty of room for big groups and cute seating area with carpets. Chicken kabob was super juicy and flavorful and came out piping hot and fresh. Pretty reasonable prices and polite servers. Would definitely come back to try their other dishes.

Their food is not the same anymore. The chicken meat was dry and the rice couldn't even taste because they did give any.

The salad was crisp and vibrant, topped generously with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and shredded carrots, making it the perfect refreshing balance to the warm dishes. Even the green sauces on the side were incredible -- fresh, zesty, and the perfect finishing touch. The presentation was clean and generous, making it ideal for a group setting. Unfortunately, our experience took a very upsetting turn when we found what appeared to be a bug in the food. We contacted the restaurant to explain what we found and hoped they would handle the situation professionally. Instead, the conversation quickly became hostile. After some back and forth the owner ultimately became very aggressive and said "if you want me to deal with this issue personally you can come in person and we can handle it like men" to my older brother which felt threatening. We left the interaction feeling disrespected, intimidated, and completely disgusted with how our concerns were handled. We were unable to reach a resolution or receive a refund despite raising what we believed was a serious food safety issue. Finding a literal insect in a meal is concerning enough, but what made this experience especially disappointing was the way we were treated afterward. From one Muslim person to another- that man had no kindness in his heart. I truly hope the restaurant shuts down or that man ends up on the street bc he's not taking food safety concerns seriously.

We already knew what we wanted for our entrées but decided to start with a few appetizers. Based on her recommendation, we tried the Mantoo (steamed chicken dumplings) and Kashk Badenjan (eggplant dish). Both were flavorful and enjoyed by everyone at the table. For our main course, we ordered the Mixed Grill Combination, which included lamb tikka, lamb kebab, jujeh, and chicken tikka. The portion was generous--perfect for sharing and even better for leftovers. It happened to be my aunts birthday and we were offered a traditional Afghan dessert, Firnee. It was a pudding topped with pistachios. It was creamy and sweet. Such a thoughtful gesture. By the way they also offer BYOB, which is a nice bonus. Overall, great food, friendly service, and an enjoyable dining experience.
