thickest braids where my hair is the shortest

i showed soukaye my hair (12/22) prior to her agreeing to service me and let her know it's shorter in the middle, before & during the service i let her know i wanted small braids for that very reason. she said that was okay and i later on scheduled my appointment (12/24) for half fulani & individual braids, but as you can see in the pictures the thickest braids are where my hair is the shortest. i noticed a couple of days later that a little hair in the middle was left out (i thought it was left out, but really slipped out of the cornrows) i contacted soukaye to see if she could add individuals where the hair was out, which she agreed to; but when i asked if it would cost anything extra i got no response. i payed $240 for the service & left a $5 tip, a wash wasn't included & 1 pack of hair was provided by me; so im extremely upset that this is what my hair looks like 2 weeks later & has looked like this since a week after the appointment. not only that i had to leave my appointment so she could start & finish 2 other clients in between my appointment, which i didn't know about until after i was in the chair. it was a rushed service between her scheduling & trying to get home for the holiday, i wish she would've just turned me away or i would've caught the red flag she wouldn't be able to grip my hair properly with nails; but people don't turn down money & desperation clouds your judgement. if you have long hair im sure you'll have a better experience, but if not at the least go to someone without nail extensions.

    Babygirl's hair turned out perfectly!

We just moved here from Atlanta where African hair braiding is on just about every corner. But I quickly realized that here they are hard to come by. I found Soukye on Yelp and I must say that I will be bringing mu daughter back for another appointment. My daughter's appointment was at 9 and we were done a little after 10. She opted to get her hair done in corn rows and they came out perfectly.

You can see the open sores on my scalp after I removed the braids.

I took my braids out Monday evening, 12/14/15, and my scalp is still very sore and tender. I have scabs all in the front of my head where the braids were the tightest. While i was taking the braids out my hair came out with the braids toward the edges. I am constantly putting Neosporin and oil on my scalp to help the scabs heal and the hair grow back.

Bri goes above and beyond to create the perfect ambiance for a truly relaxing experience. She dims the lights, incorporates scented candles, plays a calming playlist, provides a cozy blanket, and adjusts the chair to make sure you're in the most comfortable and relaxing position possible. Her head massage techniques were phenomenal! Between the different combs, massage tools, and techniques she uses, I was able to completely immerse myself in the experience and genuinely felt like I was able to unwind. The hand and arm massage at the end was also such a thoughtful finishing touch! The haircut portion was just as amazing. Bri takes the time to educate you on the maintenance required for different haircuts and helps recommend styles that complement your specific face shape. I really appreciated how knowledgeable and attentive she was throughout the entire process. Plus, you get to enjoy a nice, warm cup of coffee while she works her magic! Beyond her incredible skills, Bri is so personable, welcoming, and easy to talk to. She truly creates an experience rather than just providing a service, and you can tell she genuinely cares about making her clients feel comfortable and confident. If you're considering booking with her, BOOK WITH BRI ASAP! You will not regret it. I'm already looking forward to my next appointment!

Changing my review to one star after the owners snarky response. Some people should simply not own…read morebusinesses. Not ever, in the history of Yelp, has responses like yours HELPED a business. I'm sure it feels great in the moment...but I bet it won't feel too great when you're shutting your doors. If you're THIS reactive to constructive criticism, that's on you babe. If you think I would have come back after THAT reply, you're crazy. Treating myself, as a customer, regardless of my experience in the industry, politely would have garnered a positive change in my review. After that reply...Good luck hon! Edit to owners second response: my initial review was in no way rude, it was honest and I actually left out details to show kindness to the stylist. It's not her fault, I never even said her name and that was on purpose. No one was "put on blast" (how old are we?) It was simply an accurate description of my experience. Blaming me for the HUGE CHUNCK missing from my hair is funny. Yes I had cut my own bangs, no they were not fixed by the stylist...clearly, look at the picture. Since the owner knew who I was. She also could have called me, she chose instead to argue like a teenager over Yelp. For new potential clients to see. I'd. Be. Mortified. If someone left my salon looking like I did, but more mortified to be THIS petty. This will be my last response. Future clients beware. If you're unhappy, this is how you will be treated. FYI. I didn't end up calling because I read your replies to others who had and shocking ...you were rude to them too. Embarrassing. Good luck!
