I've searched in North County for a great stylist and I found it in Amber. She is a strong colorist, specializing in blonde but she found the perfect brown shade for my roots and gives it just the right pop of blonde for some 1/4 highlights around the face. She also does a fantastic haircut, my hair is longer so finding the right balance of layers is important so it doesn't just hang there or poofs out (I've got some body). I've been seeing here for going on 2 years and always get excellent and consistent service. If you're looking for someone who is great at color and cut, she's your girl! I had an appointment and had to place a deposit towards the service as a new client. I ended up having a job interview on the same morning my hair appointment was scheduled - and had less than 24 hours to reschedule without giving up my deposit. I ended up getting a rushed service but paying full price when I pre-washed my own hair.... I'm not sure I want to return since the appointment policy doesn't work well with a last minute change. The stylist was nice, but for the minimal service I had (a super quick TRIM that was done in an instant), I'm not sure I'll go back. This review is very long overdue. I have been to countless salons, at least 40 for different services. Most of them were good, got the job done. But Twig isn't just a salon. It is a magical place, where everyone is so kind, every time I go, it is a big love fest with wonderful stylists who are all at the top of their game but also incredibly caring and wonderful people outside of what they do. Amy is a senior stylist who brought my hair back from being so damaged other stylist didn't even feel comfortable, touching it. Amy brought it back to life making it lustrous and shiny, but also made me look amazing in the process. She gave me exactly what I wanted. She is a sweetheart, selfless and incredible at what she does. Tatum is another stylist who is incredibly kind, nurturing and so good at what she does. Every time I go to her, she takes me to this happy place of feeling pampered and cared for. Tatum is a natural healer and extremely gifted in so many ways. Tyler is another stylist who I absolutely adore. Tyler is fast and very skilled at what she does. There's nothing she can't do. Best of all, Tyler is so pure hearted, sweet and funny!! She always makes me laugh and it's a joy to talk to her anytime I get to see her. Bre - what can I say about Bre. She is the operations manager, who keeps the ship afloat, organized, efficient, and knows everything it takes to help make the customer happy. Her beautiful smiling face will greet you often times when you come in, and there's nothing she won't do to make sure you get exactly what you need by the time you leave. You'll see her going around the salon, and her energy is so uplifting. Bre is the glue that keeps it all together. And Anna is one of the assistants there who is so sweet and kind, she'll greet people with a love that radiates from her heart. She always gives me hugs and they are exactly what I need. There are many more people here who are wonderful in so many ways, but you get the point. This is not just a salon Twigg is a very magical place in Carlsbad, disguised as another hair salon. Amy was over and above outstanding 5K stars! I walked in with a mess from someone who turned my hair orange. It was embarrassing and I had a hard time finding someone with the knowledge of color to help me. My consultation was with Amy and buy does she knows her stuff. She listened to my issue and gave me a plan to turn this mess into a beautiful head of hair. What a transformation. I was pleasantly surprised at how gorgeous my hair turned out, Way beyond my expectation!!! My hair appointment yesterday with Jaclyn ended very badly. It was my second appointment with this stylist with whom I was giving a second chance after my first haircut a few months ago. For that first cut/color appointment, I had brought in a picture of the just barely shoulder length style that curled slightly under that I wanted. I specified I didn't like the way my current hair was sitting on my shoulders and flipping up. She cut and colored my hair then I was passed off to someone else to blow dry it doing the final styling while she moved on to another client. He asked how I wanted it styled??! I was left with a cut that was too long and was sitting well below my shoulder in the back and flipping up while one of the front sides was longer than the other. The color was great, and overall, I was relieved to have my hair cut and colored since I was leaving for vacation the next day. Ater I left, I realized how much too long it still was, but I couldn't come back the next day since I had left on vacation. I decided to give her another chance and made my next appointment. This time I decided we should discuss it and describe it verbally. Seems like a pretty simple cut to me, but the discussion went on for 20 minutes, at which point she said she no longer had time to do my foil since she only had a certain amount of allotted time for a cut and a foil before her next client. I said I hadn't been happy with the cut from my previous appointment and I was giving this another chance. I also said I was willing to just turn this appointment into a cut only one. I said I'm glad we took the time to talk it through so that we were on the same page. She seemed frazzled, though I have no idea why since the conversation was calm and descriptive by both of us. She then told me she would be right back and after five minutes came back and said she didn't feel comfortable and didn't want to risk doing the cut wrong so I could find another stylist somewhere else. This is shocking to me that she couldn't understand how to do a fairly straightforward, classic style even after detailed discussion. She spun the issue into making it about me mentioning I had cancelled 3 times. Actually I had made 2 appointments previously so that one could be a consultation and the next appointment for the cut. When I confirmed those previous appointments, the receptionist said I should just have one appointment and allot a little extra time before it for discussing where the first cut had gone wrong. So she cancelled the first 2 and made a new one. Unfortunately I did end up having to cancel that new appointment because I had come down with the flu and had to be rescheduled to this appointment. So I canceled only once because I was very sick. Why she would bring that up during this appointment? I realize this was New Year's Eve and she had a full schedule, but I accommodated that by offering to make this appointment into a "haircut only" appointment for the sake of time, even though I badly needed color and had set up the appointment for both services. This stylist is supposedly one of their top stylists, but I've never been treated like that in a salon. I was very disrespected in a place where the customer is supposed to be made to feel pampered & cared for professionally. This stylist came across as entitled and unable to do a simple "bob" style cut, even with extra allotted time and unable to have a constructive discussion describing the cut. read more

The salon is very nice, in a convenient location, and staff is overall friendly. However this is all the positive I could find. I booked three appointments for myself, my mom and sister, my bridesmaid booked hers separately (4 total) . I was told because the styles were down dos, and we would all be coming with CLEAN DRY hair (no shampoo needed) the cost would be $65.00-$70.00 per person depending on the style itself, even with clip in extensions that I was bringing from home. I asked twice about the extensions and told it was no additional charge. I was also told I would be with a gal named Tatum for my style. Because I was the bride, Tatum was the most suitable & "best" at styling. This was more than fair, and I appreciated the transparency.....however that is not how it went down. The bait and switch began. Upon arrival, we were greeted nicely and sat to wait for our stylist. Once the stylist arrived, she took me first. No name tag, no introduction, by the time I was already in her chair, she mentioned her name was not Tatum. I was so confused but she was nice so I didn't have the heart to ask for a switch. She asked me what I was looking for, pulled out a menu and started writing down notes, and the total cost of the service which was $120?! How did 65-70 turn to 120??? For reference I asked for old Hollywood waves, and volume in my hair. I had reference photos and was told "these are two different hairstyles" YES, it's called inspiration, vintage, big waves, volume. I could tell right off the bat it wasn't going to be a what I wanted but I continued...I take responsibility for not getting up and changing stylists but discovered my sister was out with Tatum. With the clock ticking on my wedding day what am I supposed to do? It's so important to ultimately find a salon that has the vibe of your style you're going for, it was clear my stylist had no knowledge as...I walked away with a side part and beach waves. My other friend (She also wanted the deep S wave Hollywood swoop.) Scheduled an appointment with a different stylist. My friend was also extremely disappointed after she arrived with dry clean hair, was "required" to shampoo AGAIN, twice in the same day which any stylist knows that's detrimental to curly coarse hair, just to be given beach waves. SHAME ON them for charging over $140 for a styling and conning her into a hair wash she did not need. Honestly, this was a bad experience, only made up for the fact the stylists were somewhat nice. I did speak up about the $120 and they agreed to make it $80, because of the hair extensions and QUOTE "it was a wedding-do" I was absolutely livid. The bait and switch was ridiculous, the overcharging was one thing but to walk away with styles not even close to what we asked for, was another. At the end of the day I spent an additional 30 min back at my hotel with rolled socks and hair spray to try and get my swooped bang, and every single person had to "fix their hair." No time or stress was saved. Please educate your staff on formal styling and hair texture because it was clear no one here understands. Just because we were a bridal party doesn't mean we should have to accept ridiculous up charges and not receive what we asked for. Had we had more time or patience this would've been conveyed in person, but in order to keep my sanity, I chose to move on with my day. When I found out about the ridiculous charge of a $70 shampoo, and additional $65 styling fee to my friend I knew I had to write this review. read more

I was super hesitant on writing this review because overall I've had nothing but exceptional service from the Hairdressers at Twigg it is the reception staff that are extremely rude as well as Tricia the owner who encourages. Amy, Krystina, and Anna have always provided great service! I had services scheduled for 8/12 that I was very much looking forward to as I just had a baby and was only 6 weeks postpartum I had booked on a Saturday and they are closed on Monday so I received no confirmation for my appointment except an email that gave me a different time than my appointment. The day of the appointment they called me asking where I was but when I explained that I had a different time the receptionist explained that the system breaks down the services into different times, and that they were working on getting that fixed because it can be confusing. At that point I was not told that I could still come in but that my appointment would be cancelled. Later that day I was charged the full amount of my service $440.00 when I called Twigg to ask why I hadn't been afforded the opportunity to still come in and get a partial service they receptionist was extremely rude and hung up on me I called back in hopes that the call just dropped only to be greeted by another person who apologized for the previous receptionist that I had spoken to. They told me they would talk to the owner and see what could be done. Either way I left it at that. No call from the owner nothing. Today 9/12 I called Twigg and asked them if I could come in and and get my hair done and Breanna very rudely told me that I was no longer welcome in their salon and that any services that I have prepaid for such as the Hair blow drying service would not be refunded, she then proceeded to hang up on me. I called again and Tricia the owner got on the phone when she spoke to me she spoke very harshly didn't even let me explain my side and simply stated that she would NOT refund me for any prepaid services and that I was no longer welcomed into her salon. I explained to her that I just had a baby and that anytime I had missed an appointment during that time was because I was either having contractions and that I always paid my cancellation fees. I also explained to her that day I was really looking forward to getting my services done as I had just had my baby and had extensions in my hair that needed to come out ASAP and that it was a misunderstanding. Her reception staff had zero compassion and it goes to show that they are trained to behave the same way that the owner Tricia does this morning she was so rude and even yelled at me on the phone . Up to this point I have always been a great client I always tip my hairdressers $100 and tip the girls that wash my hair as well. I had to cut my own extensions out myself because of this incident and this "business owner" had zero understanding or compassion to a recently postpartum Mom. I'm sad that I will no longer be able to get my hair done by Amy. I will be happy to take my good business elsewhere! read more

I can email you photos of my bangs beforehand if you want and I can publish it on here too. I cut my bangs with scissors at home. Your stylist has professional experience and professional tools and I walked out of YOUR salon looking like that. REPEAT AFTER ME: I WALKED OUT OF YOUR SALON LOOKING LIKE THAT. That's absolutely a shame to respond to me like that and I will never come back. I absolutely would NOT recommend Twig Hair Lounge. I asked for the best stylist and colorist on the staff. She was Expensive so I assumed she was well trained and star quality. I expected great service and a skilled, experienced stylist and colorist. It was absolutely the WORST HAIR RESULT EVER. I came in looking like me, needing a half inch trim on the same cutlines and a root touch up. I left with HAIR MUCH DARKER THAN MY OWN- NOT EVEN CLOSE!! IT HAD LOTS OF RED IN IT. MY HAIR IS NOT RED, IT IS A GOLDEN MEDIUM BRUNETTE. She spent time creating NANCY REAGAN HAIR on my head. OMG. LOTS of hairspray and curling iron and poufy whatever. I left in a state of shock, stunned that this happened. I paid close to $400 for this horrible job. I rushed home to wash my hair to get all the junk out of it. I also had to cut the hair on each side of my head myself. Guess she forgot those parts. I asked that the owner call me when she got back from vacation. The owner never got in touch with me to discuss this destruction. I came in with stylish easy short hair in the right color. It is an easy color and no hair colorist has ever made me look like this. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. She had my hair as a guide for the same cut lines, which are not tricky, and the same color, plus my human hair topper that is my exact color and cut. It really should have been a no-brainer. My appointment was scheduled late in the day. It was the end of the work week at the salon, at the end of the last day and she was juggling at least three customers. She didn't seem to feel well at all. The owner has my number but while she sounds so nice on Yelp as she answers complaint after complaint, in my opinion, she hasn't provided me with 5 star treatment or service. It is not even worthy of 1 star. There are also many rules there. It is not particularly friendly. Do Not Go. Take your money, give you bad service, never call to discuss it. I don't leave Yelp reviews often but I wanted to thank Twig and my stylist, Kat, for a great experience with color and cut. I've been coloring my hair for a long time and Kat is one of the best I've ever been to! She listened carefully, offered ideas, and asked relevant questions about how I care for my hair at home, how often I touch up, etc. Her technique is terrific and the color turned out even better than I was hoping! A last minute decision to schedule a haircut for my teen daughter we had an appointment at Supercuts but had to wait an hour and a half which seemed a bit long. Then we saw Twig in the same Bressi Ranch center and I was willing to spend the extra cost if we could get in earlier. My daughter and I approached the receptionist and she was on a call. Understandable right? Yes of course. One minute passed and she didn't acknowledge us. Three minutes passed and I heard her on the call confirm an appointment yet she still didn't acknowledgement that we were standing RIGHT in front of her. Then she receives another call and takes it without a Hello or I'm sorry for the wait. This review is solely for the business owner who probably loses a lot of money because of a receptionist who isn't trained to multi task and in the end THEY lose money. Priscilla was wonderful! I went in as a last minute appointment where she shifted her normal working schedule to accommodate my needs for my event. She created a hair style that lasted all day complete with makeup that was simple and elegant and turned out beautiful in my photos. I would and will definitely visit Priscilla again at Twig Hair Lounge. The surroundings and salon overall had a wonderful and relaxing feel.
