This review is for Danika J. 5 stars for technique, professionalism, personality and results! Came in for a partial highlight and a haircut and I'm very pleased with both. She listened, asked questions, and I mean really listened to what I wanted without rushing me. Because of that, the outcome was exactly what I wanted! She has a bubbly, talkative personality but you can tell she knows when to talk and if you want to just sit and be quiet too. I think she knows how to read her clients well. She doesn't just talk about herself the entire time, she will listen and ask questions if you share anything about yourself. I thought the price was fair and I'll be coming back. If you'd like a kind, engaging stylist who listens well (and gives you quiet space if you need it), and has great technique - she's the one for you! This salon is nice- simple, casual decor that is comfortable. The bench at the entrance isn't that comfortable but you don't wait long for your appointment. I called him and he was able to book me a week out. He did not disappoint. I was going for a drastic change cutting off 10 inches. I love my new cut and he has a great personality. I highly recommend! Although it's not worth withholding a star for- it is important to know that there is not a coat rack, no where to place your purse. Aja did my hair today. It was hands down the WORST hair color I've ever had in my life. To say I'm livid is an understatement. I requested a simple root touch up and hair cut. I've been doing root touch ups on my hair for over 20 years and I know EXACTLY  how a root touch is up supposed to look. I walked in golden blonde (See attached photo that was taken 2 weeks ago) and I walked out partially brunette. Aja used a root touch up color that was not the right color for my hair resulting in an uneven brown reddish crown and roots and completely ruined my existing highlights. She put the root color so far down on my hair instead of just focusing on my roots. She pulled the color down in my hair by almost two inches, resulting in two inches of brown red hair over my blonde hair. One of her coworkers even came over and gave her suggestions on what she should have done with my hair. I wanted to cry in the chair because I was so upset. I just prayed that once she cut it and blow-dried it it would not look so terrible. I told her it was too dark and she said she would fix it next time and order the correct color. Sorry but how is that acceptable to have to wait until next time to fix this?! I left the salon and noticed there was hair dye all over my ears and neck and also dye still in my hair. I called the salon to express my concern, they said she would call me back within 10 minutes. 30 minutes later no phone call so I showed back up. I told her my hair is the worst I've ever seen it and I was very upset. She offered to have me come back tomorrow because she was booked. At that point I asked for someone else because I did not trust her ability to properly do hair. Then she mentioned she could squeeze me in between other clients but it would take 4 hours. 4 hours to fix the mess she created! I told her I want a full refund and I will go somewhere else today to fix this mess of hers. She lacked any emotion or sympathy. She acted like she couldn't care less.  Luckily I found a salon in Carlsbad that offered to fix her disaster and clean up her mess. I met with a salon owner in Carlsbad who was flabbergasted with how bad my hair looked. The cut Aja did was crooked, the hair dye was still in my hair. My neck was itching and red from the hair dye being left on my neck. I had to pay a salon over $350 to fix Aja's mess. I'm out a significant amount of money and time over this. Aja mentioned she's only had her license for a year and before that she was an assistant. The second she said that I should have jumped out of her chair and ran out of Textur Salon and found a more seasoned experienced stylist. Sadly I trusted her to do my hair and look at the result in these photos. I wouldn't come back to this salon if it was the last salon in San Diego County. This was the worst hairstylist I've ever dealt with in my entire life. The fact that she didn't even feel bad for what she did to my hair is so unprofessional of her. She needs to be retrained on how to do hair and also educated on how to be humble when she messes up someone's hair. Even though another salon fixed her mess, my hair isn't what it was before I went to Textur. Aja just screwed my color up so bad it's going to take time to fix the damage she caused. It is abundantly clear that Aja, with only a year of experience, lacks the necessary skills and expertise to handle even basic color treatments. Her inexperience was evident throughout the appointment, as she seemed unsure of the proper techniques and steps required to achieve the desired result. The end result, turning my blonde hair brown, is a direct consequence of her inadequate training and lack of proficiency. Furthermore, her unapologetic and indifferent attitude only added to my frustration. Instead of acknowledging her mistakes and attempting to rectify the situation, she dismissed my concerns, leaving me to deal with the consequences of her poor work. As a customer, I expected professional and competent service from your salon, but this experience has been anything but that. read more

Meh. My appointment here was my first and last. The vibe and the hairdresser were not friendly. No effort was made. Parking is horrible. There are 2 whole spots dedicated to the whole salon and even street parking was scarce. Once inside there's nowhere to put your things other than the floor. Your sitting so close to the station next to you, you can hear everything other people are saying. While my color was processing for 45 minutes I never saw my hairdresser. She disappeared into some back room. Never got offered anything to read or drink. It was just ok. My hair looks just ok. Terrible shampoo at the bowl. I love a good firm scalp massage - definitely not worth the money I spent. Still hunting for just the right place with the right vibe. Recommendations welcome! read more

She's not like other stylists when you ask two inches and they they take 6! Although when I do ask her to chop 6 inches it will literally grow back in 3/5 months! I've been here twice for a blowout and both times was able to get in same day and left feeling so refreshed. The salon itself is clean and modern and they offer drinks and snacks which is a perk! I've had 2 stylists, Sydney and Cynthia and would recommend going to either! I went to Textur for a haircut and was really happy with the result! Sydney did a great job listening to what I wanted, offering suggestions based on my hair type, and kept good conversation throughout the entire process. The studio is cute, and she immediately offered me water and snacks so I felt comfortable. I paid around $60 for a cut that included a wash and styling at the end, which is a great price for this area and for the service I got! The only thing to note is parking -- there's a few spots out front otherwise it's street parking. I found parking no problem but just helpful to know. I searched high and low for somewhere, and I'm so glad I went with this place! You'll be in good hands. I love my hair and feel so much better after my cut. I'll be back for sure! read more

As a guy who cares little about my hair, I usually end up at sports clips or supercuts but after coming away unhappy I was referred to Textur. Ahsante is the man! His casual and comedic vibe is comforting when coming to a new place where everyone seems to know what they want. I gave a terrible description of what I wanted my hair to end up looking like and he worked with me to deliver a haircut that I liked. Cassandra: I had seen her work on Instagram so when I finally decided to do Balayage, I knew I wanted her to do it. I did have to wait a while for an available appointment, as I initially called right when restrictions were lifting in CA & SD and everyone was making appointments. The other part of it is that excellent stylists do get booked up. Let me tell you it was SO worth the wait. To say that she worked a miracle on my ugly pandemic-brown shade of hair would negate the fact she has serious talent and skill. Bonus: she's super nice and easy to talk to. I was and remain blown away by how beautiful my color turned out and have been getting endless compliments. The salon and other stylists: The owner has done an amazing job culling top talent because everyone leaving the salon while I was there looked beyond. Not good or great, but runway-ready amazing. The atmosphere is professional, but there's also a really good, fun, light vibe there. I also really love that the salon has an outside area, because I'm really bad at sitting and doing nothing unless it involves a pool and drink in my hand. Very reasonable prices for the quality. Bottom line: You're going to have a great experience and leave as your best self, no matter who you see. I went to this salon because of all the amazing reviews. Unfortunately, I received one of the worst haircuts I have ever had. The stylist literally cut my hair in a straight line. Then, when I asked for some layers, he basically just cut another straight line an inch higher. There was no attempt to blend the layers or make it look natural and even. You can see the effect of this in the picture. The stylist also kept getting my hair tangled and pulling on it to the point where it broke off and I now have a bunch of short, whispy hairs around my face that look terrible when my hair is pulled back. I suppose the result is not surprising, considering the time spent. Washing, cutting, drying, and styling all took less than 30 min and I have a lot of hair (to the bottom of my rib cage before the cut).
