I don't really get why this spot has so many bad reviews, I personally came out really satisfied with my hair. I visited at a friend's recommendation while I was in town, and got my hair done by the owner's daughter. The staff was really kind, and the vibe was chill, chatty and informal. I got two dutch braids with hot pink hair extensions. It came out perfectly! The braids were tight enough that they lasted a week or so, but not painful. Adu has been doing my braids for years and always does a flawless job. I've had a few different styles (cornrows, knotless, regular box braids) and get compliments on my hair wherever I go. I love the fun energy in the salon, her mom/the owner is hilarious, and it's a great place to spend a few hours since getting individual braids means you're going to be staying put for a while. The owner of this salon is the worst! Finding her on IG, I actually went to her salon in person to have a consultation about getting my hair done. She seemed knowledgeable and caring and we discussed what needed to be done and the style I wanted. She also advised me on the type of hair to buy. Her assistant gave me a day and time of 9:30 AM on 10/16 which fit my schedule. They then asked me for $25 to secure the appointment. I paid them via Cash App since they do not accept credit cards or debit cards. Now I know why. On the day of the appointment, when I arrived at 9:20AM, strangely the business was completely closed meaning that even the security gate was shut down over the entrance. So neither the owner Sue, nor her assistant, knowing they had a 9:30 appointment arriving had taken the time to come a few minutes early to open up and prepare the salon. But I also know that things happen that can delay an arrival. So I waited....and waited....and waited. I sent a text to the owner, no reply. I stayed until 9:45AM with no communication from the owner and no one arriving at the business. When I called Sue at 10:30AM to find out what happened, she immediately launched into lies, telling me that yes she was there, that she was wondering where I was, insinuating that I was the one who didn't show up, she then said that I should have called her to find out where she was(!!!); it was a joke. She had about ten different lies she spilled as we spoke. I asked her why I would take the time to come to a consultation, pay $25 to secure an appointment, then not show up but send a text asking where she was? It made no sense. And now she refuses, of course, because she is dishonest and unprofessional, to refund my $25 even though she is the one who broke the appointment. I cannot with these insane business owners in Miami. They are the worse and give the city a bad reputation. Please do not use - or attempt to - the services of African Braids Miami. I called to get a quote I made a comment about how much I pay here in NJ so I just wanted a reference the woman was extremely rude. Not only did she leave a comment under my comment she called me and left a voicemail on my phone she also called me again and we spoke and she threatened to contact her lawyer and sue me for slander lol her, her staff, & her salon is a joke. I called back and now she hesitates...repeating what she said last week. My last phone call was in another 3 days. Her response now is the truth..."I don't accept credit cards. I prefer cash." This is my second time going to Sue's for my senegalese twists. And there's a reason why I came back: my first set of senegalese twists lasted me close to 8 weeks WITHOUT the braids unraveling. Even better, being natural, my natural hair never stuck out of the twists like it normally would with other hairstylists. I was able to wash my senegalese twists 3 times and they never unraveled or loosened. I was very impressed with the quality of the braids and the fact that they lasted me that long without unraveling. Which is exactly why I came back for my second set of twists. Sue's daughter did my hair (again) and the twists came out just as fabulous as the first time. And it only took her just about 6 hours, by herself! I highly recommend anyone who wants their Senegalese twists done right and in a time-efficient manner to go to Sue's. read more

I went here not knowing much about this shop because I am new here to Miami. I was really depending on the reviews I read. This is truly the best salon I've gone to!!! I got a side part leave out shoulder length cut sew in. I love my hair so much and I've received countless compliments (I've only had it in for two day!) . The shop is VERY clean smells great with excellent service. This salon makes you feel like you're at home. Some of my natural hair is broken off because of some stress I'm going through at the moment at first I was embarrassed to go because of it but this salon makes you feels so comfortable no matter what condition your hair is in. So let me start off by saying that I had an appointment scheduled for 9am Sunday 3/12/17. I text the day before to verify that my appt was still scheduled for that day and time. I arrived at 8:40 and the shop was closed. 9 am comes around and still no one, so I called and she said she would be there in a couple of minutes and what time was my appt supposed to be? How don't you remember what time you sched my appt that was confirmed twice? 9:40 rolls around and I call again and was informed they just got off the exit. Soooo they already wasted an hour of my time. Then they start talking about how they went to a wedding last night and they were tired blah blah blah. Communication is key. I had another errand I could have taken care of in the meantime. Anywho this rush job they did is horrible. It's nothing like the picture I showed them and I will never return to them again. Proceed with caution if you chose to go to them my hair should not be showin through the Marley hair nor should the ends be unraveling after 24 hrs. I'm going to have to get my hair redone the correct way! ** Oh yea! My faux Locs were supposed to have a curl to them and as you can see they are straight! I was informed that if I wanted them curly I can use rods when I get home. What salon sends a paying customer home to finish their own hair? I got hustled and finessed coming to this place. I went to get micro braids and I had two different people working on me making completely different size parts for the braids. The hair they recommended was hard and raggedy and I didn't get any tactful advice in terms of using synthetic hair which will not last. (I live an active lifestyle such as swimming going to the gym daily) They disguised it so when I left it looked OK until I got home and realize that a lot of it was not even!! and my baby hairs were tucked away. They over charged me $285 when the average price for these braids are anywhere from 150 to 200. I asked Kindly if she could remove these braids because I was not happy with the results and she told me "it is not my responsibility to remove your braids for you." (So it isn't your responsibility to make your client so happy and satisfied? SHOULDNT HAVE A BUSINESS!) Luckily I found another salon to assist me in this easy removal process. Of course I didn't get any type of refund back I got accused of being "money hungry" and got yelled at on the phone. Very unprofessional. The owner does not care about her clients as she could not assist me in doing anything to make the situation better. I do not recommend going here. I usually don't give bad reviews BUT I'm in the process of taking down my $220 Senegalese twist after being up 3weeks this is why .... I was quoted $175 & that they accept ccards over the phone , when I arrived I was asked to pick a size and length , then she says I don't take cards only cash , I rushed to the ATM and came back because money wasn't an issue , Sue said her daughter would be twisting my hair , I was kool with that because I saw pic and really liked the work so that wasn't an issue .... After 8 hrs. I was finally done !! The twist were neat and looked pretty Good at first glance , Sue took pictures and I left .... (Keep in mind I also do hair so I know Senegalese twist aren't started with a braid ) I got home and noticed the twist all started with braids and some had really big sections, to top it off some hair was left out! I tried to put them in a pony tail and they were all braided down , kinda like a cornrows so needless to say the ponytail was not a good look !! I took pictures and sent them to sue , she said she would fix them but it would NOT have been a quick fix due to the fact they were all braided the same , ... I had too much going on personally to get a full head full of twist that I already wasted a full day to get done over again ...so I told Sue nevermind fixing them ..... So here I am 3 weeks later taking down so called Senegalese twist that cost $220 ..... Oh!! Did I mention they started falling out a week later (smh)My moto is DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME AND YOU WONT HAVE TO FIX IT LATER ... Very disappointed waste of money & time ...... My boyfriend and I went in today to get our hair braided because it is way too hot in Miami to have your hair down. We called first to see if they could do what we wanted and they answered immediately, had us send a picture and responded very quickly. They told us to come by within the hour. When I got there, they tried to up the price on me!!!! NO WAY!!!! I told them that, that wasn't they price that was told to me over the phone, and they went with that price.
