I realize I last reviewed TCR in 2017, but my love for the salon still remains the same. While Dani nor Daniella are no longer there, Karla is STILL my go to girl and for good reason! I'd rather let my hair color grow out than let another salon touch my color. Karla is so talented and so great at her job, it is such a joy to come see her and the salon, in general. It's such a bonus day if I get Courtney to wash my hair and for Pope to cut and blow dry. All of the stylists I see here are so great and I recommend them to anyone in the Miami area who is looking for a high quality hair. The salon is clearly a home to so many regulars because it's not uncommon to see other clients catching up with their stylists as if they are all lifelong friends. I was debating whether to leave a negative review, especially because the manager was very kind and genuinely tried to fix the issue.. I have no complaints about the salon itself.. But for anyone out there who cares deeply about their hair, especially if you like precise haircuts, clean layers, and trust matters--DO NOT get your hair cut by BRIDGET. Backstory: My birthday is coming up, and I wanted to treat myself to a fresh haircut for birthday photos. My hair was thick, healthy, and straight. I'd been growing it out from a bob--it had finally passed my shoulders, and I was so proud of the progress. I asked for soft layers at the bottom and even showed clear reference photos. What I got instead: My hair was completely chopped--uneven, with visible holes and harsh cuts. Even after another stylist at the salon stepped in to fix it as best as they could, it's still patchy, with random short pieces and rough, inconsistent layering. I appreciate their effort, but the damage was already done. To make it worse, Bridget didn't seem to realize how badly she'd messed up. She asked, "What's wrong?" in a way that made it clear she couldn't see the issue--when it was painfully obvious to anyone looking. Honestly, someone with that level of skill (or lack of awareness) should not be cutting hair. It was truly a traumatic experience, and it'll take months--maybe years--to grow my hair back to where it was. They really shouldn't let her cut hair at that salon anymore--it's damaging their reputation. I went in feeling pretty confident after reading great reviews on Google and seeing impressive work on Instagram. But then this happened... Now I'm honestly afraid to wash my hair- if this is how it looks after they "fixed" and styled it, I can't imagine how bad it'll look once it's just natural. I am so grateful that Changing Room was the second salon I stumbled across after relocating to Florida 8 years ago after my first Florida salon experience was $400 (just for balayage!). Changing room has plenty of stylists and appointments don't take months to get in and prices are reasonable for south Florida. I found Changing Room through Jenni's (Jennifer W) instagram, recognizing her talent in working with blondes! I had an amazing stylist back home and was thrilled to find someone on the same playing field. Jenni is receptive and brings your desired look to fruition! I have also had 1-2 other experiences with stylists there for a cut when she wasn't available- all great experiences. The cost for highlights, cut, and blow dry is around $300 which I found to be very reasonable for the area and the skills. The only thing I don't agree with is the cost of a haircut being $84 when I only usually get a basic straight trim and not a true cut/ style.. wish there was a differentiating price range but that's Florida for you. Let me preface my review by stating that I have not had my hair professionally cut since 2011. As an EXTREME introvert, sitting in a chair getting service is a horrifying prospect! In addition, I have truly awful hair. It's about three different textures and it never looks good. I got tired of getting my hopes up that I could find someone that could make my hair look presentable, so I cut my hair myself. Saves time, money and stress. The Mr. has been on me to get my locks professionally tended to, so since we were going to be around Aventura today, I made an appointment here. Kudos to the Changing Room; the vibe is very laid back. While waiting for my appointment, I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. I checked in with Leah, who asked what I was interested in. I told her I hadn't had my hair professionally cut in over a decade so I wasn't sure. She started asking if I wanted certain things (can't remember specifically as this isn't my wheelhouse, something like a U turn or face framing?) and I told her I didn't know what that meant, so she said, "OK, a trim then". I would have been open to doing something a little different with my hair if she had explained what she was talking about. The hair washing was great! Loved the scalp massage! Leah then got to work on the cut; we agreed on the amount to take off and she snipped away. I didn't have styling included; for one, I wanted to get out of there ASAP and secondly, I have curly hair and you can't really "style" curly hair; it does its own thing. I watched what Leah was doing and she cut my hair exactly the way I cut it! On the positive side, it reinforced that I am doing a professional job and cutting it correctly when I cut it myself. However, if a professional is just going to do what I do, why bother spending time and money at a salon? Will I return here? Maybe. My hair looks exactly the same as it normally does, just a little shorter. If I can muster up the interest and do some research on hair styles, it might be worth it to come back for a professional cut. Otherwise, I will probably just keep on cutting it myself. read more

This is one of the busiest salons that I've been to here in Miami and I'm pretty surprised. Feels like New York. Lots of stations and everybody's dressed, clean high enegry ambience. The reception is very nice on phone and in person. They have you fill out a form so they keep a record of you. The vibe is salon professional. Always someone cleaning up and lots of product to purchase. My first impression is good. Except my stylist is late and I'm in time! The waiting area is very comfortable magazines, tea coffee and cookies to give an overall welcoming atmosphere.
