This is their Midtown…read morelocation, which I frequent because of the super convenient parking right out front--makes it so easy for a quick drop-in or last-minute appointment. The waiting area is welcoming and bright, with gorgeous white marble floors and large windows that let in tons of natural light. The space feels open and airy, and they've got a great selection of skincare products displayed alongside comfortable seating, so you can relax while you wait. The check-in staff are always super friendly and offer refreshments, which is a nice touch. As for treatments, I've had a few great experiences here. I've done a laser treatment on my face to help with discoloration spots, a Dermaplane (which is amazing for getting rid of that pesky peach fuzz that sneaks up as I get older), and their hydro facials are perfect for adding extra moisture during the summer months when my skin needs it most. You can easily book appointments online, or if you prefer, you can call them directly. I've also found that emails get a quick follow-up call within 24 hours, so they're always on top of communication. Overall, Glow Spa is a reliable, relaxing, and professional spot that makes skincare a breeze.

I went in for a brow lift for a big event coming up in a few days, and while there, the esthetician convinced me to get a brow tint and a lamination. I asked her if it was okay to do since I am on tretinoin, and she said yes, the only thing I couldn't do was wax, so she plucked my brows instead. During the procedure, I asked if it was meant to be burning and painful, and was told yes. We even talked about me being on tret while the procedure was happening! My brows were bright red afterward and painful, and in the morning, I had scabbing in certain spots, red skin, and they were still very painful even without touching them. I very clearly had a chemical burn. After a quick Google search, I learned you should not do a brow lamination while on tret, and I called the spa, who told me I was wrong and there was nothing done at the spa that could have given me a burn. I did not believe them, so I called my dermatologist afterward, who said lamination should not be done on tret or any other retinoids. I am attaching my text conversation below with Glow Med Spa (I cropped out the beginning, which includes personal information) during which they tried to gaslight me into believing they had done nothing wrong and that I was experiencing a "personal allergy." They changed their tune when they realized I was not, in fact, an idiot, and had spoken to a qualified professional elsewhere to further confirm. I really am not the type of person to leave bad reviews. I have never done so in my life and probably never will again. But the fact that they tried to trick me after they gave me a chemical burn is just not acceptable. The burn that they gave me is thankfully not terrible but they have not only ruined a big event for me, the chemical burn could have very easily been worse potentially scarring me, and they were happy to lie about the entire thing.

After calling twice, I finally received a call from Brent, and he is truly the most unprofessional, rude representative I have ever spoken to. A surgeon coworker recommended Low Country Dermatology. I took the recommendation and scheduled an…read moreappointment to have a mole and a cyst checked for removal. Appointment #1- Saw NP Lizzie and had a mole removed. Lizzie was incredibly friendly however I had anxiety about having the mole removed and asked to come back on a day when I could take an anxiety medication. She said, "I do this to little kids all the time" so I felt guilted to have the procedure done at that time despite having serious anxiety. An appointment was set with Dr. Howington to have a cyst removed. Appointment #2- The receptionist called me the day before to confirm my appointment with Lizzie. I told them my appointment was for a cyst removal with Dr. Howington. They canceled the appointment and told me I would have to reschedule because they couldn't fit me in. Foolishly I did. Appointment #3- I called about a month in advance to confirm my appointment was booked **with Dr. Howington for cyst removal.** The receptionist confirmed that my appointment for cyst removal was scheduled with Dr. Howington at 10:30. I was originally booked for 11:00 which should have been a red flag but I assumed it was an error on my part (LOL). I clarified that I would be taking sedatives and they advised that I would have to have someone drive me. I took 2 days of PTO, took anxiety meds, and arranged a ride to & from the appointment as directed. I was very upset when I was called back into the room and Dr. Howington asked me when I'd like to schedule the procedure THAT I WAS THERE TO HAVE DONE. I told Dr. Howington that I was there to have the procedure and she told me she was booked that day. I broke down and began crying and she told me that she could fit me in but had 6 procedures that she had to perform first. The meds were already begin to wear off, and my ride did not have all day to wait for me. Dr. Howington told me she would refer me to a plastic surgeon which was fine with me because I wasn't about to schedule this procedure with their office yet again. She told me she would fill a prescription for tretinoin as I needed the dose increased and told me she would call the plastic surgeon at lunchtime. My insurance was billed for a consultation that I didn't need or schedule. When I got to the front desk I was still crying and asked what the issue was with inappropriately scheduling my appointment not once but twice. The girl at the desk said, "We've only seen you one other time." I clarified that this was because they canceled my previous appointment the day prior. She replied, "I can't tell you who scheduled the appointment." I didn't say anything but I can. It was you, girl. No apologies, no sympathy, no attempts to rectify the situation- just "You don't owe anything because your insurance covers consultations." I left sobbing. Two days after appointment- I picked up tretinoin from pharmacy and it was the wrong strength. Six days after appointment- Called the plastic surgeon and the office confirmed that they had not received a referral. Low Country Dermatology stated that they sent a referral. Seven days after the appointment- I again picked up tretinoin from the pharmacy and it was the wrong formulation. Going through the anxiety and anticipation of this procedure not once but twice and having absolutely nothing done was horrible. The cyst hurts and I waited months for both appointments because they couldn't fit me in sooner. I have lost 24 hours of PTO, $14 in copays for incorrect prescriptions, and over $300 in unnecessary insurance claims... and I still don't even have a single prescription or referral to show for it. At this point it's obvious that my health is an absolute joke to Low Country Dermatology and that they don't care about me as a patient. This level of "care" demonstrates gross professional incompetence occurring throughout the practice. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me a sixth time? No thanks.
