Came from out of state to Houston and decided to go to the Aggie land safari. Keep in mind they say that they close at 5 and we arrived at 4:01 and the gates were closed and we weren't allowed to go feed the animals even after paying for the tickets. Talked to an older woman and a younger one and they both said there was nothing they could do when clearly they can, that's how the get you. I was told I have 365 to use my tickets but I don't live here and wanted a refund but they refused. I'm beyond pissed and will never be returning. read more

I had high expectations of this place. Took my niece and nephew a few days ago. It was very hot, over 100 degrees. I was saddened to see many of the confined animals had small troughs of water and the water appeared dirty and not fresh. The worst area was the fully enclosed aviary where several ducks were huddled under a deck for shade and one wanted badly to enter a "pond." The pond was completely covered in algae, unswimmable. I remarked to a staff member that this was all very concerning. All animals deserve fresh water daily. Horrible care and I will not support this business. read more

So excited for this local safari!! We went today for the first time! It really is a great set up- a variety of animals and also plenty of opportunity to feed animals. The drive thru had a decent amount of animals. Some would come to your car and others could care less. The price for the bucket of feed is good. However the lettuce for the giraffe is pretty steep ($5 for 3 little pieces of Romain lettuce) and not to mention at least today the giraffes did not want any of the lettuce haha. However the employees let us use some branches to lure the giraffes which worked twice. The aviary area had a lot of pigeons which aren't really my favorite birds and the area could use some more unusual birds. The kids are going to love their time!! We still haven't done the petting zoo or the baby animal petting area but we will definitely come back with our season passes. It's worth doing a season pass! The shop was decent but could use more merchandise. All of the staff were amazing and super helpful! The facility seems very clean and well built. They have a fun playground for the kids but it's funny because it looks like they are selling playground equipment since they all look the same. The drive thru apparently can take about 1-1.5 hours if busy- we went whenever we were the only car so it just took us 30 minutes... can't imagine it taking an hour! The menu of the restaurant is small but sounds delicious but we didn't get to try the food today... however the prices seem expensive (12 each)- we will see how we feel about the prices once we eat the food. We will most certainly be back and had a great time!! Looking forward to all of the improvements I'm sure they will make the longer it's open too! read more

The wife and I brought our 28-year son, his wife and their 3-year-old son (our grandson) here and really enjoyed it. Go on a nice day when it's not too hot and if possible, try to go in the morning. If you do this, lots of animals will be out ready to receive some of the food that you can buy to feed them. You are sure to have plenty of interaction with lots of animals. It is a really awesome experience. I was kind of moaning about the ticket costs initially; however, after going, I will say that it was well worth it. They do offer a military discount which saved me a few quid, but well worth the money. We made lots of memories and took tons of pictures. The place is very nice and clean and has clean bathrooms (always a plus for me). My 80 year old mother-in-law loved all of the pictures that we took and now she wants to go and experience it for herself, so we'll be heading back out there soon. read more

This was only my second safari and it was fun. Adult tickets for the safari cost $25 per person and an additional $5 for the feed bucket. You can drive through the safari as many times as you like, which is nice. Aside from the safari you can also visit the petting zoo, which is also included in the cost. However, there are additional costs for food at the petting zoo. I gave 4 stars because the safari was only fun at the beginning because towards the end the animals didn't come up to you. But for the cost and location I thought it was worth it. They also sell food here but I didn't try it. read more

This is the best place to go in Bryan/College Station. I love how the people who work here actually love the animals that they work with. You can tell that they actually care it's not just a job. My daughter loves it so much here that we got our season passes. Yes you can drive to Houston or wherever else to see a big zoo but I love how this place has close contact with the animals. If you want to see animals behind bars go to a big zoo. But if you are like me and you want to see animals in a more natural setting this is your place and like I said the zoo keepers here will be glad to answer your questions if you need help. We were very very disappointed with the total experience. This was the 3rd drive thru zoo that I've visited. For the price I was expecting this place to be comparable. The variety of animals is very small. It's mostly just various deer & goats. The animals are not interested in the food. We later encounter employees out on the trails dumping huge piles of the feed, so the animals were not hungry because they already had been fed. This was at 9:30am on a Saturday. The employees suggested we buy at least 3 of the $5 bags of food. (But we purchased 6 bags). 1 bag would have totally ben enough being 80% of the animals weren't interested. So we moved on to the little walk thru zoo. Another let down. None of the aquatic animals had water in their ponds. Otter was bone dry. Goose in a bucket of water. I felt bad for these animals. This place was reminding me of things I seen on "Tiger King". We left and went to a different drive thru zoo that was 30 mins away in Franklin. It was a much much better experience (and less expensive). In summary: Over Priced & Not fun. Waste of time & money. read more

After reading another review, I was wondering if we should even go go during the heat of June, but I am so glad we did. We got there around 12:30. We went inside first and immediately saw the giraffes. It's $5 to feed and pet them. While it's not much food, it's worth it to interact with them! Then we did the drive-thru where the animals were very interested in us. There were lots of animals coming to the cars all the way through. It's $5 for a bucket of food, which turned out to be plenty. Back at the welcome area, there is so much more to see and do. You can feed tortoises, goats, etc. You are much closer to the animals than you are in a zoo. When we were leaving, we asked what to do with leftover food and were told we were welcome to drive through again, so we did. We loved it. Well worth the money and we'll definitely go back. read more

We had SO much fun on Saturday at the Festival of Lights!!! This was our 1st but not our last time to visit by any means. The facility is clean! There is gravel paths not mud so your shoes don't get grimy. I was impressed with how lively all of the animals were!!! Parrots scolding us, monkeys playing on their rope swings & this HUGE owl looked so serious. It was outstanding to get video of the hippo swimming. A very inviting environment with families, a local band playing live, food trucks set up, clean bathrooms & lots of photo ops. Really enjoyed decorating our lanterns & it was awesome that some folks had pics of family that had passed attached to theirs. Lots of benches to just sit and people watch or listen to the animals & soak up being in the outdoors. There weren't even any mosquitos! I took so many pics & videos to share. I have a season pass and plan on using it quite frequently now that it has cooled off. Very easy to find, parking was plentiful & the employees were very helpful. This is exactly what we needed for families & friends to enjoy/learn/relax outside of the city limits and at reasonable rates. Well done ! read more

Aggieland Safari is incredibly overpriced. My family and I felt that there was little offered for the price of entry. It cost my family of five (2 adults and 3 kids) $100 for admission, and $12 for 1 cup of lettuce for feed. Many of the exhibits were empty and/or pathways were locked so you were unable to see everything. We would not visit here again unless the prices were adjusted appropriately for what is offered. read more

This place is great!!! All the animal are kept very happy with a lot of food and water. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I know because I had a lot of questions . They answered everything and had patience with us. All the animals have very enjoyable and they all have very interesting personalities. The driver through Safari is great. Although it does depend on animal participation that day, I was very happy to see that they have more then enough room to run away. I will tell you that's the farm animal portion will be very interested in what type of snacks you got on your car. But overall 10/10 recommended read more

There were many positives to the Aggieland Safari. It was clean, they had tons of staff who were helpful and nice. We also really like petting all the tortoises. But I would say it's not worth the money($25 a person). We've been to better safaris. Unfortunately, the animals are only interested in the animal feed in the first section of the drive thru. We had over half of the feed that we ended up throwing away by the end. This place will be MISERABLE this summer. There is very limited shade. A lot of people were complaining and seeking any shade in the walk through areas. The playground isn't shaded either (and it's a sand playground....). They had these fun cars that you can push down a track at the playground but it's right in the middle of the play area which caused many close calls of kids getting hit (and were only at the playground area for 10 minutes). Don't waste you money on feeding the giraffes, they had no interest in coming close to anyone. We saw many people waste their money trying. They have such a wonderful picnic area (one of the few shaded areas) but no outside food or drinks are allowed... I will say this is only the 2nd week they've been open so I will be interested to see the improvements they will make over time. We may try again this Fall. read more

Aggieland Safari is less than a 2 hr drive from Houston and it did not disappoint. The safari was bigger than expected. Lots of animals that were very social. The staff was very nice and helpful. We took lots of amazing photos. Couldn't have asked for a better safari near Houston. read more

Potential! But not there yet. Staff is very friendly and grounds are well maintained. Very little shade anywhere so animals stay close to whatever shade there is. You MUST get there early as by 11:00 am animals are no longer active not hungry. The negative is the pricing. Way too high for what animals they have. Feed is $5/bucket. We bought two buckets of food and only used one. We were saving for the sarengeti and there were very few animals there. Do not waste $ on giraffe lettuce. They won't eat it. Do wander all around walking zoo. We missed several areas and realized after we were driving out. By 11:00 it was just too hot for us, and we were all ready to leave. read more

We drove a little over 2 hours here after seeing the commercials on TV, wished we would have forgone the outing. The zoo is super small, the safari is loaded with all different deer, there was a few other animals to see but not worth it. They have a small playground for kids. read more

This place is a terrible waster of time, effort of driving here, and money. All of the animals in the drive thru are skittish and couldn't care less that you're there to feed them. I went here with a friend a few days ago. I can't comment on the price because I was treated but it is a zoo and the money goes to keep up with the animal maintenance. The walkthrough zoo has kangaroos, joeys, birds, snakes, cows, ostriches, deer, buffalo, and more. I enjoyed feeding the giraffes and the goats. It was quite hot outside so we didn't stay terribly long. I much more enjoyed the drive-through safari. We went early in the morning on a Friday so the animals were still very hungry. We used two bags of the feed. I will say though if you do get food wait until the last half of the run as those animals are much more hungry. The buffalo were very eager to stick their head in the car so that was interesting. Also, you're allowed to go through the safari as many times as you'd like as long as it's before 4 pm. As for parking, there is a sizable lot so there shouldn't be much of an issue getting a spot. read more

Extremely disappointed in the way things were advertised. "50 acres of petting zoo" you were only allowed to feed on patch of goats through a fence. Ok people I get it, the price goes towards maintaining the animals- well the experience matters as well and our experience today was disappointing. I felt like I got ripped a new one paying what we had to pay just to get it in the park and then they nickel and dime you for every little thing after that. Like they can't just throw in a bag of food for your car but you have to buy each small bag. Never mind that you are helping to feed their animals. The current scenery is pretty ugly and sad, the freeze has something to do with that which is understandable but the whole range seemed to be uncared for. No grass. They shouldn't be charging what they are per person. It was 80 dollars for a 25 minute drive through, plus diesel, plus 10 bucks for 2 small bags of food and then when we went to walk to see the giraffes by the front they said it's it was 3.20 for 3 leafs of lettuce. I should have asked if I could pay to get the weed whacker out of the shed while we were at it. Anyways-until they adjust their prices we will not go back. The Waco Zoo, Fossil Rim are better alternatives for families with kids. On a side note, the main indoor entrance smelled pretty badly like animal piss, which is always concerning. You can't but help but think the place is hurting for funding, help or both. I am wishing them well and would love to go back if things turn around. read more

I was so excited to bring my two year old and we had a blast! My only complaints were the signage. I would've preferred some better informational and directional signs. Most of the time, I wasn't sure what animal was in the exhibit. The drive through is fun, but most of the time you have no idea what animals you're actually looking at unless it's obvious. Also, we bought a bucket of lettuce but there was nowhere outside the turtle exhibit to place it when we were done, which is not what we were told. This place is great! We went at noon on a sunny, very hot day and there were still tons of animals that came up to the car in the drive-through safari. And they let you drive through as many times as you want. The walk-through zoo was really nice as well. We fed the giraffes, tortoises, and parakeets, which my kids loved. read more

literally the most fun thing to do in college station! we did everything, and going on a monday was a good idea because the park was basically empty. the drive thru safari was amazing, animals walked up to my car even though we didn't have food for them. next we did the walk around which was equally as fun. our favorite parts were feeding the giraffes and tortoises. we also went into the baby animal nursery, which was also so adorable and fun. we wouldn't recommend it for young children though, because the small child who went before us made the animals extremely nervous, meaning the staff had to give the babies a break before seeing more people. the staff is super friendly and helpful. all around a great time and we will be returning! read more

This place demonstrates fantastic potential! I went with my friend and her grandson. The grounds are obviously newly cleared, roads are hard packed gravel. I absolutely loved the Hippopotamus enclosure. One of the best habitats I have seen for this large aquatic creatures. For those complaining about the cost to feed the giraffes and tortoises, please. $5.00 to feed these lovely animals is a bargain. Houston Zoo is 5 times the cost for half the leaves. IF you go in the summer, early morning is best. Texas is hot in the summer for those that do not know that already. The facility has a great play area for the children with games under the pavilion and in the play area. Keep in mind, they just opened and this is a work in progress. I am very excited to have such a wonderful place close to home. The animals looked healthy and happy with clean areas and fresh food. The feed buckets for the drive in were a great value at $5.00 a piece. The bathroom wash stations are a work in progress, the facility waiting to tie into the municipality water system (money grab for the county!) Had lots of fun with the family. Almost more fun than the Houston Zoo. Wasn't sure what to expect. Other reviews said the animals weren't hungry when they went, but for us, all the animals were hungry. They have a drive thru part and a walk through part. For the drive thru part, we had a blast feeding all the animals. Word of caution: if you have a nice car, the horned animals can scratch your vehicle. They scratched our mini van, but we didn't care since our van has seen better days. We ran out of food about half way through. Lots of fun. For the walk through part, we bought some lettuce for the giraffes, and they were fun to feed. When we went to feed the giraffes at the Houston Zoo, we had to stand in line for an hour, and only got to stick 3 pieces of lettuce in their mouth, and then that was it. Here, you get a bucket of about 14 pieces of lettuce for $10, and you can feed them all day, with no wait. We also were able to walk around with the tortoises and feed them. They also have more exotic animals like kangaroos, spider monkeys, lemurs, a binturong, an inside area with snakes, and an aviary enclosure. We went to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, and I think this was more fun. read more

We had SO MUCH FUN! We started with the drive thru safari and got a $5 feed bucket which was plenty. The animals came right up to the car and were friendly, but did not touch the car. There were a large variety of animals in the drive thru and there was zebra and bison, although that section was the only no feed zone. Then we went into the zoo and feed the giraffes and tortoises for $10 a bucket. The giraffes came right up to us and we're super friendly and nice. And there was a huge variety of tortoises to feed. I loved how you only had to pay for the bucket of food and then could feed both animals from it. They had a big variety of animals to see. There were lots of babies too, we even saw a baby lemur with its mama on the lemur island. The exhibits and park was cleaned and well maintained. All animals had clean water, food and shade. If I had to be picky I'd ask for more free shading within the zoo for the guests, it did get pretty hot in the middle of summer. read more
