The transition was very smooth and now in her 3rd year there, she's still doing wonderfully. The community (parents, administration, teachers, support staff) are all relaxed and intelligent people that clearly love and value children. The Montessori philosophy and learning environments are authentic and beloved by the children. There's plenty of interaction between the children and the outdoors, with fun interactive garden experiences and an interesting outdoor play area. Tuition is the same as most other Montessori schools, and they offer before and after care, and plenty of opportunities for parents to volunteer. Good times!

This year there was a new teacher with the 3s class, Adriana. She is such wonderful addition to the program. Her calm passive demeanor with the kids, in particular, was really great for our more reserved and sensitive second son. She gave him the room he needed to self settle and learn to feel comfortable and safe at school while still offering support. By the end of the year he was running into the classroom so excited to be there and all of his imaginary stories included teacher Adriana. We will really miss her next year.

We went to a few different daycares/playschools before (a Montessori school and a few different immersive ones) and all were too much pressure for our kids. They needed a friendly, fun, and relaxed environment - with no screens and lots of outdoor play. And that's what you get here. The staff all get along super smoothly and there is a 'flow' to the operation that even the kids pick up on. Everything feels low stress and welcoming, our kids love it and are well taken care of. 10/10.

As a transplant from California I was most concerned about her ability to play outside during various conditions and the Playschool at Mountain Park has made that possible daily. Upon enrolling our child in this school, we signed a document stating that we do not authorize any…read morephotos of our child on social media. Over a year later, I found out through the schools Fb page that our child's photo had been posted numerous times. When I confronted them about it, they removed it. However, most of those photos had already been up for over a year. This school varied from being about 85-100% white. For a while, we were the only non-white family. All of the mothers that I personally encountered were quite white in skin colour and culture. The school severely lacks cultural diversity and a genuine understanding and acceptance of other cultures. Our family has taken the pandemic seriously since March 2020. I never believed the original narrative that, ''Covid does't affect kids.'' Prior to relocating back to our home island of Maui, Hawai'i - we were one of the most Covid Cautious families in all of Pdx. We were a minority within a minority. Our experience within this "community" was sincerely awful.
