Her philosophy and way of teaching really encouraged both our kids to strive both socially and emotionally. Encouraging learning through open ended play and non judgmental teaching. I wouldn't think of taking my children anywhere else. I thank Village for encouraging their socialization and teaching me ways to be a more intentional parent.

My son was in the 3 year old class last year and our teacher is beyond kind and compassionate and none of what was described in your post happened at our school while we have been there. There was not a child with genetic condition or diabetes enrolled last year, nor was there a decline in enrollment. Also, our president was male last Fall and our teacher has not left (and hopefully never will!) I am so sorry you experienced what you described, it sounds truly horrific! I just want to make sure you leave this under the appropriate school so that families can be warned.

We came here after a disastrous first year at a nearby Montessori chain (that has since closed), so the difference is especially visible to us. At the place we left, they had all the Montessori trinkets, but a revolving door of staff, most of whom were clearly not trained in the method or the materials. She did not learn much that year -- but has grown by leaps and bounds here. And the parental community is an awesome bonus, as well.

Beyond the teachers, the next best part is the outside play area. You will not find a more imaginative outside play space for the kiddos! Outside is where the real magic is. A slide built into the side of a hill, where kids get to learn to take turns. That leads them to a bridge that crosses into a huge sand pit that has a water spout that that trickles a lil stream down into the pit. A plethora of pies and soups are being made. Perhaps the children would like to pretend to ride a horse on one of the two saddled bales of hay? Beginning spring the children can turn the soil in one of the raised beds and plant some seeds? And, that's just the bottom area of the outside play space. The upper area opens up into a whole other world. If you are a parent looking for a preschool for your wee one, look no further! We drive 30 minutes, if we didn't feel like it was a great preschool, that wouldn't be happening.
