One of the best thrift shops in Madison. They make dropping off donation items very easy. They have a nice parking lot with spots right out front so you don't have to haul anything far. Drop off is just to the left of the building (outside). The store is so clean, organized, and well decorated. They have a great home and decor section as well as clothes, shoes, purses, books, holiday decor, etc. Good brands, quality items, and excellent prices. Highly recommend! read more

My friends broken down car at this place which is what got me in the door because I came to rescue them and go to lunch. The place is noticeably a nicer thrift store right off the bat and arranged nicely to the naked eye and the quality seemed better than the thrift stores in my neighborhood. They have a nice selection of items from furniture, clothes, shoes, household items etc etc. I found a nice pair of fancy martini glasses which looked like fine crystal because of how upscale they look but it's probably just glass. The people and the cashier were very friendly and if I lived in the area I would definitely be a regular shopper. read more

Agrace Thrift on the west side is one of my top thrift shops in the Madison area! I'm mostly a clothing thrift shopper and there are a few things about shopping here that make it enjoyable: 1. Clothes are organized by color, category, and size. 2. Agrace curates their donations so the offerings are usually brand-name pieces or quality fabrics. I've seen a lot of items with tags still on. 3. Volunteer staff are always tidying the racks for a streamlined thrifting experience. Everyone I've met there is incredibly friendly! Be sure to ask at the register if there are any seasonal specials, and they have fliers that publicize if they run different percentages off on Thursdays (their specials day). 4. Size of the store isn't intimidating. I'm not scared of a huge Goodwill or St. Vincent de Paul, but it is nice when the racks are manageable to sort through. I gave Agrace 5 stars, but to be honest, I'd put it at a 4.5 mainly for inflated prices. Because their donations are curated, prices will be a little bit higher than other thrift stores in the area. I'll usually pay $3-4 higher on a top and $4-6 higher for a dress or coat. I do budget out more when I know I'm heading to Agrace but I've gotten some beautiful dresses and tops from there and it's a good size store to poke around a bit after work or a quick trip on the weekends. read more

Whether you like thrift stores for rummaging and seeing weird stuff, or you prefer clean and well-organized consignment stores, this is the place! They don't have a lot of furniture but it's a well-curated selection. Everything is clean, organized and arranged. All the staff are volunteers, so they're not always very knowledgeable as to what the items are, but I've always had excellent experiences with everybody I dealt with. I go a few times a month, and even when I don't find anything I like, I have a great time browsing. read more

This is the best thrift store that I have visited. The staff is so friendly and it supports hospice care so it's a great cause. All of the clothing is nice and well priced. My second thrifting trip since moving to Madison and it was a great experience. This is a cute and well organized thrift shop. It is on the smaller end, but well worth the trip. I went in specifically for clothing. Found 2 pairs of dark denim jeans (1 pair was new with tags) and a nice dress up blouse for work each piece priced at $5.99. Not bad! There are a lot of vintage type items - China, unique furniture, glassware. I even found a Kirby for $24.99! Organized areas for shoes, books, purses. Not a lot of items for children...there was a small selection. Super friendly staff/volunteers. Clean dressing rooms. No funky smells when I entered the building. Great location! They offered a punch card incentive - for every $10 you spend you get a punch. Fill the card up and you get $10 off your next purchase. Will definitely be back again! read more

This store is on my go-to list when clothes shopping. While it is true that their prices might be higher than some things at Goodwill or St. Vinnie's, I feel like what I find here is consistently high quality. I'm more than happy to pay $5-7 for a like-new piece of clothing, even more so when it supports an amazing charity. I've never left empty handed. I don't buy as much housewares or furniture, but what I've seen in those areas looks nice. The staff are always laughing, smiling and very friendly. I've even overheard them calling someone when something particular comes in. As another reviewer mentions, they have a punch card reward program where every $10 you spend earns a punch and 12 punches gives you $10 in credit on your next purchase. Also, if you sign up for their e-mail list you automatically get a 20% off coupon good for 30 days and notification of various sales at both Madison locations (like $2 pants and skirts, or a % off of select types of items). read more

A nonprofit benefiting hospice services re-sale store stocked with donations run with a boutique mindset regarding stocking and only slightly up-market thrift store pricing. Yeah, there's a lot in that one sentence. The TL;DR: ~Agrace is a nonprofit, their thrift store supports hospice services not otherwise paid for by insurance and whatnot. They're good at what they do. Not that anyone welcomes the personal opportunity to become familiar with their services one - on - one... ~They take donations (from clients, their families, or anyone) at their thrift store location for resale there. (No, they don't clear out client's belongings and there is absolutely *no* mention from 'clinical' care staff about donating to support their mission thru this revenue stream, at least in my experience.) ~Shop has a fairly high bar quality-wise for what makes it to the sales floor (either that, or they are really only getting the absolute highest end of donations - I know, having been involved with administration of a clothing / household goods / furniture / appliances "pantry" turning around donations to benefit active duty soldiers and their families for free for the last five years as well as a general community free resource for clothing and household goods). It's certainly possible that they don't get a lot of crap, however unlikely that seems. Regardless, stock is well-sorted, clean, well-arranged, and (just my opinion) the evidence of a lot of hard work from folks I assume are volunteers. Bless 'em and their efforts. ~From a shopper's perspective, stock is fairly conservative and cool / cold weather focused, as one should reasonably expect from a hospice - related nonprofit in Wisconsin...not exactly a welcoming home of forward fashion or broad weather tolerances when selecting wardrobe items. read more

Wow, make sure you have enough time because this place is huge and will take hours to look at everything! I would say this is more upscale and the prices are not cheap, there are no deals here! But if your looking for unique items, old and very well taken care of and your not on a budget, than this is your place! There is all kinds of beautiful old wood furniture all throughout the building, From chairs to tables, large tables, end tables, unique sized tables they have it all. This is a bit more of a curated thrift store than St. Vinny's, Savers, etc.--you won't find a lot of broken or dirty items, so prices are a bit higher, but last time I went in I snagged a beautiful wool coat for $9.99, so it's still very much in the standard thrift store price range. read more
