Last year at the beginning of Covid we went to most of the greenhouses around Madison but somehow missed Kopke's. After some neighbors suggested it after buying their plants here we trekked down to Oregon. They have a very large selection and the prices are OK (after having moved here recently from out east it is surprising that the annual/ perennial plant prices are relatively high in the Madison area). We heard that many places were already picked over even though it was just mid-May. We thought that there was plenty to choose from at Kopke's. There was a lot of staff around to assist and to help answer questions. We did stop at a couple other places after being here but next year we will just focus on getting all of our plants at Kopke's. read more

Stopped by Kopke's today to pick up some topsoil, but had a good look around as well. They have an excellent selection and all their plants appear to be healthy and well cared for. The various greenhouses are well marked and easy to navigate. It was well staffed and busy today, even on a weekday. Staff members were very helpful and friendly. One girl offered to help us load our cart and even followed us out to the car so that she could return the cart for us, which was much appreciated since we had our six-month-old with us. I have shopped at Kopke's for several years always spending between $150-$200. They are very stingy with the coupons. When spending over $150, they didn't allow the $1 off Mother's Day flower. I didn't have my daughter with me, fine. Went back the next day bought four strawberry plants and a hanging basket (another $60), and a very snotty salesperson rolled her eyes and said I guess we'll allow the coupon. Why wouldn't you allow it? Are strawberry plants not plants? The only reason I am writing this is because this is not the only two times this has happened. Very disappointing. I was happy to go to Stoughton Garden Center down the road to get the rest of my hanging baskets. They were nicer and less expensive. read more

Love Kopke's! It is filled have so many varieties of outdoor plants for patios, porches and hundreds of hanging baskets. Very vibrant colors and various sizes. In my experience, the plants and flowers last all summer long. They also carry vegetables and herbs, and tons of variety's of both! About 6 different kinds of basil and maybe 20 tomatoes. All of the plants are so healthy and vibrant, they just give you hope that you'll have a successful garden! Be careful though, a beautiful garden and plentiful vegetable patch adds up quick! read more

I drive two hours from Illinois to make the trip to Kopkes. It is well worth it. The quality of plants, baskets and pots outdo any competition. In addition their prices are competitive. The pots and baskets are well priced. They are a great deal. Lastly. There is so much help and everyone is friendly. I love going. read more

I found Kopke's to have a disappointingly limited selection of annuals. I've found a much better selection at other greenhouses (Klein's is one of them). Prices were okay--not out of line, but certainly not a bargain. No originality in their pre-planted pots and baskets, either. But they have a LOT of stock. All in all, I would not go out of my way to go there again if looking for annuals. Their selection of perennials was much more to my liking. It made up for the lackluster annual selection. read more

We've been in Wisconsin for less than a year. My sweet wife is a Master Gardener. She's been to numerous garden centers and greenhouses and nurseries. This Saturday we drove from Madison to Kopke's. This place is excellent. The selection is very good. Plants are healthy. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. It's clean and inviting. There was even music playing in one of the greenhouses. That's something we haven't experienced anywhere. Nice touch. This place is well worth the drive. We'll definitely return. read more

I shopped at Kopke's yesterday for herb plants. They have a wonderful selection of healthy plants with great variety. This was the first year that I didn't have to go to more than one store to get all the plants that I was looking for. The staff is very helpful if you need any advice. read more

Great place to get really high end yard art and gorgeous flowers. Definitely high end though, these are not cheap plants.

I've really enjoyed Kopke's in the past and shop here every year for my Mother's day gift. I buy flowers, vegetables and perennials. They always have a fantastic variety of healthy plants, a beautiful setting, and usually they offer outstanding customer service. This year we had an odd experience. The salespeople are usually very nice and helpful but this year a salesperson rolled her eyes when I asked her if they had a certain variety of Zinnia in stock, she then proceeded to tell me that the stocking people had not been in yet today (it was noon on a Monday) and there was nothing that she could do to find out. Usually the sales team at Kopke's is very helpful and will work with you to help you fill your needs. Another odd thing that happened was at the checkout my husband handed the clerk the $1 off any plant for Mom coupon she looked him in the eye and said "you don't look like you're 16 or under." Indeed he is not but he was pushing a stroller with a one year old and my other children were standing next to him. At first we thought it was a joke but no she was seriously trying to not allow us to use the Mother's Day coupon even though we had three children with us. I also had the coupon pulled up on my phone but she would not allow us to use for all three of the children and only gave us $1 off $195 worth of plants. Why offer a coupon if you're not going to honor a mere $3 off a $200 order, and why be so snooty about accepting it, when we are following the coupon limits? I left one of my favorite places which I look forward to all year with a bad feeling. Sad. The number one rule of retail is to always make the customer feel positive about the experience, well unfortunately this year that was not the case. I certainly think Kopke's is worthy of a trip but perhaps they need to work a little bit with their sales team to regain the standard that they have so highly held all these years. read more

My favorite greenhouse in all the Madison area. I'm hesitant to write a review, as I don't want more Madison folks to find out about how awesome they are! Very attentive, helpful and friendly staff. Long lines to check out, but staff come through offering bottles of water. The high schoolers to help take things to your car are amazing. Wonderful flowers at great prices.
