    Historic farm equipment.

Touring around inland Ventura County for Farm Day yesterday we ended up at the Ag Museum. It was a great way for Sweet Granddaughter to play for a while as Dear Hubby and I got to chill out and reflect on our day out. The two women at the front desk were very welcoming. The museum presently has its admissions fees sponsored, so it's free to attend, but donations are welcome and I was happy to add to the their box for contributions. From there we were treated to bright, festive colors throughout for Dia de los Muertos displays. In the back room, past various historic farm vehicles, is a haven for kids. They have a Farmers Market area as a play space. SG picked a red apron from a rainbow of colors to choose from to start her tending-the-market adventure. Lots of faux fruits and veggies fill bins to "shop" from, and a replica cash register is there to ring up purchases. She had a blast there. There's also a transportation area with train set pieces, and assorted cars and trucks for kids to play with (which can turn into extended sessions), which SG also loved. Don't miss the outside garden area in back. Since our last visit several years ago this area has been developed into a plant outdoor space. Rock-lined paths meander through planted areas, with signs explaining what's happening in each area. Picnic tables offer a place to gather, rest, and take a break before the next activity. SG took to the corn hole game boards, and then became a sidewalk chalk artist. I wandered around the garden area and snapped some photos. Dear Hubby got to chill for a while, then helped with the chalk art. They stage various events here throughout the year. The restored agriculture warehouse is a great venue for many activities. It's a great resource for Ventura County!

This was our third stop on our Santa Paula "Passport 2 History" excursion. This museum is fantastic as they have a whole room with things for kids to do! And we're not just talking pressing buttons... They have a whole store set up where the kids can dress up, go shopping, put food in their carts, bring it to the check out, pay with play money... and more! There are toys, games, and many workstations where kids can play! The rest of the museums has large tractors and stuff like that, and they even had a tractor and horse and buggy set up for kids to go on! You could definitely spend a lot of time here if you let your kid just play. There's an outdoors area too. The gift shop was nice, but what I liked best is that they sell authentic, vintage citrus labels! The staff here was also wonderful and helpful. As good as some of the other museums we saw that day were... this was our favorite! PS. If you go here, you can get into the Ventura County Museum in Ventura free on the same day! We're so glad we did!

Fun fun fun! After a quick and boring looksie at the art museum, we came to the agriculture museum. There is a fee for admission, but it was cheap. We paid $6 total for 2 people with AAA membership. Came across some interesting facts about Santa Paula and the surrounding agricultural areas. There were tractors and farming equipment on display. We really loved how interactive the museum was! So many signs that invite you to touch and play with items. Great place for kids as they have specially designed areas for play. You can dress up in farming clothing hehe! $6 well-spent! Peter and I had a great time!!

I loved my visit here, especially the outdoor garden in the back. Talk about being in my happy place! The garden was inviting and educational, and gave me so much inspiration for what we can do at home in our own backyard. I'll definitely be back!

I swung by this museum with my 2 boys on 7/27/13 when I took the train to Santa Paula. It's an old barn-turned-museum which really incorporates the feel for the agricultural theme. Wish I had more time to stay at leisure, there are many kid stations throughout-love that! Kids can"mount" a saddle, see insects thru a telescope, drawing stations, try on clothing from past centuries, ride and sit on a tractor and horse drawn carriage. My favorite was the insect section, complete with a real life bee hive with glass panel!!! Little museum that packs a lot of info, very charming :-) Would like to revisit soon with more time :-)

My wife and I sort of stumbled upon this while taking a self-guided walking tour of the area. The museum looks fairly small and unassuming from the outside, but is pretty large, exceptionally well organized, and clean on the inside. It'll cost you $3 to get in with your AAA discount, and it is worth every penny. On the inside, there are activity areas for kids, tractors galore (some you can even get on), a wonderful exhibit on crop dusting . . . and even live bees. Outside, out the back door, there are quite a few pieces of dilapidated farm equipment, and what looks like it used to be a working garden or education area. You can easily tour the entire place in an hour, and you will learn lots of interesting facts about Santa Paula and local agriculture. There is also a small gift area with local items and craft items as you walk in. If you're in the area, this is definitely a place to consider, as there is something that will interest everyone inside.

Good little place to learn more about the area and its history. Price to get in was fair and there was enough to see and do to keep my kids interested for about 20 minutes. No staff walking around to explain anything in further detail, but it could have just been the time and day we were there.

I would definitely come back here to learn about the house and to take the guided tour. This wasn't the purpose for me coming today but the gentleman who works here noted that it's a great tour and I know friends who have enjoyed learning about the family and the history of the house, getting a deeper dive of information. I came here with some friends for their first hosted event Sound Bath. A wellness day if you will. From start to finish everything was very organized and thoughtful. The staff hosting the event and the spiritual wellness guide and sound healer was wonderful. Everyone was nice and you felt welcomed. Not pretentious and just very positive and good vibes. We had a nice group and everyone was respectful and on time for the sound bath so it went off without issue. It was a relaxing experience and the grounds were very nice to hold this outdoor event. The birds were chirping, the sun was shining, we found an area with shade, very nice. Very faint sounds of cars in the distance here and there which wasn't ideal but out of their control and once things settled in you really couldn't hear much external noise. After the relaxing sound bath we were offered tea and light pastry snacks. I opted for a water and began exploring the grounds instead of partaking in the refreshments. The grounds are lush and lovely, very zen. Loved the beautiful trees and walkways with small fountains and running water. It was green and pretty all around from the recent rains. Definitely a great location for events and to learn a little SB history. I will definitely do my research and come back again soon.
