Coming to the Poconos is not like coming to Long Island where there is a supermarket on every corner Ahart's is definitely the Stop and shop of the area. This shop was very large, bright and clean. The shelves were well stocked and everyone was helpful (especially navigating your way through this food warehouse.) They are in a shopping center (strip mall) so there is plenty of parking. It may get more challenging during peak periods, but that's to be expected. They have a good (and well stocked) meat department and a robust supply of fresh and frozen fish. There is a good bakery with plenty of selections of cakes, cookies and breads. There are many freezers of frozen foods too. There was an impressive supply fresh fruits and vegetables which are also strategically located around the prepared foods, cheeses, specialty gourmet items and deli. They seemed to have some good sales of which to take advantage. The cashiers smile, say hello and thank you for shopping at their store. This was a great experience for a Long Islander very used to our exceptional amounts of markets and strip malls. KUDOs to the team at Aharts. read more

A Disaster in Aisle Every Aisle Let me just start by saying: Ahart's needs to get its act together, immediately. This place is less of a supermarket and more of a post-apocalyptic food wasteland. You walk in hoping to shop for the week, but you leave questioning every life choice that led you to step foot in this overpriced, underwhelming excuse for a store. Talk about a health hazard. Expired goods are basically part of the aesthetic here--might as well slap a "vintage" label on them. It's not a grocery store, it's a petri dish. Produce? Don't even get me started. You pick up a few apples, some spinach, maybe a tomato or two, and by the time you get home--ten minutes later--it's already on its way to becoming compost. Their fruits and veggies have a shelf life shorter than a TikTok trend. All in all, Ahart's isn't just a bad store--it's a full-blown public health risk dressed up as a local supermarket. I stumbled onto the market and am very happy that I did. It is located in a strip mall w a few others stores and grubberies. Everyone was nice and friendly. The ambience was great - the music playing over the speaker system was also very cool. The options of foods offered was also impressive. All-in-all a positive experience. I'll be back. read more

So it was 3:30 pm just came here to pick up essentials, after this little 5" snow storm and there is a note on the door closed at noon due to inclement weather...hahah the storm was over at noon. It all clear now...hahah Check the dates on all items. They did something sketch with the National Bakery Hard rolls. I think they froze them and then re-sold them. Green and fuzzy in two days. They get a three star because they have the odd items like sushi rice. Prices are crazy high for example Nescafé gold espresso instant coffee is $14 and change. Amazon delivered $8. I like to shop local but that's taking advantage of a captive audience. read more

I love this place BUT... the guy at the courtesy desk is always so rude every time I'm in there. Today he had his AirPods in and was singing "As it Was" by Harry Styles the whole time he was checking my stuff out. He never says hi or bye so I didn't expect him to this time either. I would give this store a zero if it were an option. I'm a local, I've lived here for more than four years. I've seen this store lose power to their refrigeration and freezer units numerous times for days at a time, then keep the thawed food on sale after it re-freezes or re-refrigerates. The employees, with the exception of a small handful, are rude and unhelpful. My wife and I have witnessed, numerous times, a particular gentleman from the butcher department making racist comments and literally shouting his political opinions at people who pass by the counter. The prices on nearly every product that we purchase are exaggerated well beyond even the convenience stores in our area. We've found items that are expired (hotdogs, sausage links, snack foods), clearly moldy products (bread, cheese) or "turned" (store ground meats, chicken). We had hoped that this store would change their ways, maybe develop their employees more professionally, check up on their stock more frequently, pay to repair their refrigerator/freezer units, but they have not. After almost five years of hoping not to need to drive 25 minutes to the next nearest grocery store, we've given up. We will NEVER visit this store again. I would recommend taking the drive a little further down rt. 940 to the Walmart on Mt. Pocono. If you only need a few things, the Dollar General nearby is a great option. read more

This is the 2nd time dealing with this jerk at the Deli counter. When you pull up to the deli counter this idiot stares at you until it gets awkward and you tell him what you want. He continues to stare at you until you tell him how much of it you want. This sarcastic jerk says..."you want the whole log or what?" I got frustrated and just walked away, he said, Hey, you didn't tell me how much you wanted! I wanted to tell him where he could put that cheese log but I just left! This is the 2nd time!! I told the manager but he didn't look very interested. I don't know the name of the Deli guy but he's older and African American. Good thing there a couple more deli's around where I live. read more

The store is always clean, the staff always helpful and the selection is pretty good for a supermarket in a mostly rural area. My only criticism is that they often don't have the large, "economy" sized versions of products but just the smaller ones. Fine for the people just visiting for the week, but for those of us who live in the area, it would be great to buy the big sizes, too. read more

Bakery and Deli are great. Make certain you check the expiration date on all their products. For example I purchased Chinese noodles. When I opened them they smelled like they were made in 1932. Stale beyond comparison. They had the nerve to charge $6.95 for a bag. Their prices are very high due to them being the only supermarket in the area. More like a tourist trap. We stayed at lake arrowhead last week and shopped at Aharts for everything we needed for our group of 12 people. Great selection and good prices. Found everything we wanted despite a review I had read before arriving that said this store was so limited. It's not true! You can get whatever you need. And it's next door to a state door and dollar store if you need more. read more

There are not too many supermarkets in this area (in fact Ahart's may be the only game in town). However, this is a really good place to shop for the basics and (especially coming from the DC area) I think that prices are really good. For their size they also have a really good selection of meats and fresh fish, but what I really like about Ahart's is their baked goods - their specialty breads are excellent and really well-priced. There also always seems to be an ice cream brand on sale and almost every time that I've been there the whole chickens have been at 99 cents a pound. In fact, as we visit the area several times a year, "Poconos Chicken" as we call it, has become a family tradition. During skiing season it is always funny hearing the tourists asking "where's the beer?" and their shocked faces to discover that PA supermarkets are not allowed to sell beer. read more

I used to like this place but the customer service has gotten worst and worst. The most recent experience I have will tell me to stay away from this grocery store at all cause. Purchase a brand new item from them for over $50 then I didn't need it after all and request a refund no consideration whatsoever. They push the customer away in 2 second. It is what it is. It is near tourist attractions. It is not a mega big box store. It is not a discount store either. To me I think it is more like a mom and pop grocer that has to compete to stay open. They have all that you could need as a tourist. It has the essentials and then some. If you want stuff from Whole Foods then bring it up with you! I'm always pleased with the steaks and lunch meat. It did pain me to spend $2.09 on a cake mix from Betty Crocker, knowing at my local food store I could have gotten it for .89! But it was still cheaper than buying a cake in the bakery section. I forgot to bring it up with me. I'd recommend stopping here for all your needs while you are here for your long weekend. read more

Decent selection for the area, have a large self checkout area and staff was knowledgeable about where things were.

We arrived in Lake Harmony, Pa on Friday evening. We dropped our bags, and ran out to Aharts market- based on recommendation from the Galleria hotel in the resort we stayed. We called prior and we were told they are closing in 10 minutes. We understand that they were about to close the store- but when we arrived, we had to be let in the store by a rude woman with a key. We were told we had 4 minutes. We raced thru and grabbed some necessities-while we were being rudely rushed not once but twice over the intercom by an associate informing us that the store was closing. Upon getting to the register, the time located on the register was 9:56. 5 days later, I still have a bad taste in my mouth about my experience that night at this store. We experienced the same type of service and just blatantly rude residents during our entire trip to the area. For these reasons, Lake Harmony, Pa will not get our return business. read more

Every time I come into this store, it never fails to amaze me how rude these teenage cashiers are. They hardly even acknowledge that a customer is standing near them while they either continue looking at their phone or 2 or more of them continue with their extremely childish and unprofessional conversation. Forget getting a hello, thank you or goodbye, even when you say it to them, which is the most basic customer service. Its almost become a game to see if I can get them to say SOMETHING TO ME & not just to each other. Aharts is one of those local grocery stores that serves its purpose, but just pales in comparison to other larger chains. It seems slightly dingy and run down, and just doesn't have the selection that you'd want out of other grocery stores. In this area, Aharts remains the place that you pick your milk or bread up at on the way home, but not where you do your weekly grocery shop. They have a mediocre deli and cheese selection, and quite a few aisles of plain dry goods. Their checkout does have a self-service area, but it seems to frequently malfunction or work incorrectly. Every time I've gone in they've had an employee at the front door handing out coupons, but next to nobody to help you find anything in the store itself! All in all, it is merely "ok" but is not a great grocery store. read more

We bumped into this place yesterday morning. I've been living in PA over 13yrs, but never quite ventured out this far. We viewed a circular and decided to stop by. In the Poconos you have Walmart opened 24hrs and Weiss. For beer along with food, you have Giant & Shoprite. Also State run liquor stores & Beer Distributors. This store, was different. The greeter was friendly and offered to personally help us if we didn't see something we wanted. The Fish & Meat selections were good and cheaper then the above-mentioned stores. The prices were a bit higher for some items I regularly buy, so I will purchase them elsewhere. The cashier was friendly. We liked it, got some good sales, and we will return.... read more

I live locally and once in awhile I have to stop in to pick an item on my way home. Other than the lady at the door and one cashier, EVERY single employee is miserable especially management. Their rude and treat you like you're disrupting them when it's time to check out. Looks and is a half a.. supermarket. The steaks are good but the seafood is good half the time that is if they have what you need. The clams and mussels are stink of a fishy smells. Ignorant employees and employees that put their nose where it does not belong. I went their this afternoon to do some shopping, as I entered through the outside doors to go into the store I was slammed in the arm with the one side of the door for it opened and started to close fast as for I was not even through the doors yet. I went inside to tell the so called woman at the curiosity counter and she accused me of running in as screaming at her as I walked in and said someone needs to fix that door because I was just slammed in the shoulder with it and she got very rude and ignorant with me. So I went in the back and asked another employee to see the manager she went up front to the curiosity cou. nter the so called woman I had confrontation with a few minutes ago and I said I want the manager not her. So the so called manager came out from the back, I asked the girl to speak to her and she said NO, I am refusing to speak to you. The other ignorant employee behind the counter running her mouth or I was not speaking to, got ignorant and rude with me and telling me to leave. Had nothing to do with or nor was I speaking to her. So apparently a door closes on you and hurts you they do not want anything to do with you except cause a confrontation with you and accuse you of yelling at them. Having read all the reviews, I was concerned that this was now my local grocery store. Ignore the other reviews. Immaculate every time I'm there. Just had a problem with 2 bags of mini marshmallows. Based on the reviews, I expected a problem. Nope. Took back the expired product without any issue whatsoever. Great customer service. read more
