As my massage was prenatal, we ended up having separate rooms, but Cindy checked to make sure I didn't mind first, and we were totally fine with whatever setup worked best. Cindy made sure I had proper supports for laying down, and used a body pillow to hug while lying on my side when it was time to do my back. My aching joints felt so much better after the hour, and my husband's massage therapist was able to work out several tense knots for him as well; we both felt much more relaxed and less achy post-massage. Booking was simple and you can easily see everyone's availability online. Since this was our first time, I wasn't sure who to pick, but I noticed that Cory had over 500 five star reviews so we went with him. I'm not sure how difficult parking is on a normal basis but we were able to park on the side street with no trouble. Once we stepped on to High Street, I wasn't quite sure which building it was because the lettering on the window is slightly hidden (and I didn't pay attention to what the address was when I started my navigation) but once you walk up closer you can see the barber pole. When you walk in you feel like you're walking back in time a little. The whole vibe was pretty great! When you walk in the counter is directly in front of you and there are some stairs that go up to what I believe is the massage area. There is seating there by the door and also off to the right, including a sofa. We were greeted right away and only had to wait for a little bit to get started. The barbers are in two different sections and there is enough space so you don't feel super crowded. My son told Cory exactly what he wanted and that's what Cory did. Cory talked with my son and made him feel comfortable which I absolutely loved because normally my son doesn't talk to the barber other than answering with head nods or simple words. I think Cory did a great job treating my son like a young man instead of a kid. My son had a little complaint and Cory fixed the issue immediately. I'm pretty sure my son just found his permanent barber! Even if you have to drive a little further, I think this place is definitely worth checking out. The prices were really reasonable, payment was easy, and the service was wonderful.

Welp, this little gem in German Village is just what I was looking for! It's an old house converted into a barbershop with 1-2 chairs per room. The decor is awesome and it feels very cozy. Booking online is a breeze, and no credit card is required to make an appointment for a regular haircut ($35). There is free street parking on High St or some of the side streets. I've been to two different barbers, and both did a great job on the cut. Personalities were surely different though -- one was very chatty, the other not so much. Thus, whether you like to chat it up, or just relax and zone out, you'll be able to find someone at Goodfellow's.

I was coming out of Kroger making way too many jokes about looking "constantly inquisitive" and complaining aloud to my boyfriend, when Maddie suddenly appeared and handed me a business card for her massage therapy practice. I shrugged it off for a while until the pain became unbearable and I had to visit Urgent Care. But even with meds, I didn't have full mobility back. The experience of someone approaching me in a grocery store parking lot about therapeutic massages was so out of the box, I remembered Maddie right away and sent and email. She was super prompt in every response, had no issues rescheduling me last minute due to a work conflict, and was very warm and accommodating. It was also my first massage ever. Normally people doing their first massage go for the soft rubbing Swedish massage. Nope, not me. Deep tissue massage. I didn't know what to expect, but Maddie walked me through what pain was good and what pain was bad. We also talked a little about what different muscles tense up over the years due to certain practices. I never knew my forearms were so tense just from playing piano! Or that right handed people experience tenseness in their left hips! Maddie displayed so much knowledge of muscles and anatomy and over all technique. Front door was locked, no signage for the company on any of the floors a lady that worked there had never heard of this spa. My mother then received a text from my brother about how our appointment had been canceled. So all roads point to scam with this situation. I tried so hard to give the small business the benefit of the doubt but I got cancelled on 3 times before I finally just asked for a refund. The first cancellation she said she had strep throat, which happens, I get it. The second time she *tried* to move my appointment because her son was starting school and she was changing her hours? But she only told me the day before and she changed her mind last minute and let me keep my appointment time. The last cancellation was 35 minutes before my appointment and I was already on my way. She texted and told me she was 2 hours away stuck in traffic? The whole situation was just dealt with in a very unprofessional manner unfortunately. And I still didn't get a massage at the end of it! :( The website is also very confusing to navigate. I called the number under Groupon and it said it was disconnected and so texting was the only method of communication we had. And to set an appointment, I had to make a $25 deposit, even though I already paid under Groupon, which I thought was weird.
