We were en route to a family wedding near Doylestown, PA, and arrived at the US202S-South Main Street intersection the evening of September 1, 2021 as Ida's flash flooding hit Flemington. The rescues reported in the media were extraordinary.  Once they had plucked an endangered soul from the raging intersection, and had "deposited" him or her on high ground (many on the Point Mall knoll at 245 US202S), they returned to the floodwaters to save others. But what became of the numerous soaked, cold people they deposited?  There was immediate need, but no care services (like Red Cross) were available because road access for hand-off care providers was non-existent. We can tell you what DID become of about 30-35 stranded souls from about 7:30 PM to midnight: the JSK Taekwondo studio unhesitatingly stepped up and opened its doors to all comers.  JSK's on-duty staffer was a model practitioner of The Golden Rule.  Not only did he provide a safe, warm place out of the storm for the terrified people on his doorstep, he offered what food and warm clothes he could.  And not incidentally, he also made bathrooms available, not only to the refugees under his roof, but also to those who had driven to high ground in the Mall and parked outside the studio for 4-6 hours.  All of this came at great personal cost ro the staffer, having to re-clean the studio from his dripping and dirty charges, before endeavoring to make the long trip home himself to Basking Ridge.  Given the road closures that night, I suspect that he may have ended up sleeping overnight at the studio. I'm sure that JSK's extraordinary kindness is reflected equally capably in its instruction, and I hope this review encourages many locals to seek out JSK's martial arts instruction.

Our entire family looks forward to going and we always feel as though we're part of the Freedom (Freeman family)!!! Our son has been in the martial arts program since their doors opened and we are very pleased with how well Freedom program compares to others. Hands down much better and I have recommended to many of my close friends and family members. Kyle puts his heart and soul into building confidence, positive attitude and respect into all aspects of his programs. The differentiator with other programs is that he spends much more time with his students in helping to build strong character and leadership qualities, and he ensures the students understand how to approach difficult situations, such as bullying. Freedom also has a fantastic fitness program which has changed our entire outlook on personal fitness. My wife and I have been taking his fitness program for almost 18 months now and we are both in the best shape of our lives. He was involved in numerous activities at MPBBA, including the demo team and worked there as an instructor. So we have extensive experience with this place. Unfortunately, MPBBA has gone dramatically downhill over the last 4 years or so, mostly due to the actions of the owner - Master Steve Park. The school used to have some incredible masters - Master Kang and Master Yoo; however, Master Kang now has his own school and Master Yoo teaches at another location. MPBBA was great for smaller kids, but significantly loses its value as students become better and older, as there is really no one there to teach them. Master Steve Park himself is a horrible instructor these days, who enjoys the sound of his own voice more than actually teaching taekwondo skills and does not mind screaming at students. He was even more nasty with the older kids, wasting time with stupid life lessons (such as "who needs college?") and screaming at them in rage when they did something wrong. My son made the final decision to quit after he could no longer put up with Master Steve Park and his antics and after being screamed at with rage and hatred after missing a few board breaks at a demo team performance. The belt testing here is a joke and belts are generally given away in exchange for paying the testing fees. Some students are truly outstanding; however, they are the minority. I sat through two black belt testing events and was amazed how kids and adults who could barely do one complete push up and could not get their leg up above their knee for kicks were getting black belts. Master Steve puts on a show, but at the end of the day, every single person gets a black belt, no one ever fails anything, whether they could actually do something or not. It is a joke. Finally, from a financial standpoint, this place is a rip-off. I was paying $300 a month and my son was mostly being asked to teach so he did not have time to take classes. So I was paying $300 a month to MPBBA for my son to work for them! They also tricked us into signing a two year contract, knowing full well that my son was going to go to college in less than 1.5 years. MPBBA used to be a great school with incredible masters and great camaraderie among everyone. Unfortunately, Master Steve Park has completely destroyed all of this. I would not recommend MPBBA to anyone these days. If you want a great school, check out Master Kang's.

On early termination, I was still required to pay a fee for months not attended, and that fee was calculated using the non‑discounted rate rather than the rate I had prepaid for. The combined effect was a higher charge applied to unused time. This was confirmed as standard policy, and no adjustment was made. From a training perspective, progression was not clearly defined. A curriculum existed but was only shared upon request, and classes did not make sequencing or advancement explicit. Without a grading system or clear milestones, it was difficult to understand how skills were intended to build over time. Overall, this combination significantly impacts the value of the program relative to its cost. Prospective members should look closely at both the billing terms and how progression is structured before enrolling.
