Ahrens Valley Eyeworks - An infuriating six-week saga:  We went to Ahrens because it was in our vision plan.  My wife found frames she liked and ordered her Rx.  Ten days later we called Ahrens for a status.  They called the lab who reported that they had no order.  Ahrens (re)submitted the order.  Another week later we again asked for a status.  Ahrens called our vision plan's lab at our request and learned that the lens material was backordered. A further ten days later the new lenses had fractured twice during final assembly.  Ahrens asked a few times if my wife wanted to choose alternate frames and lenses to expedite the process, i.e., settle for another product. Her response was negative.  We finally decided to cancel the entire order since we had zero confidence at this point that the lab was capable of producing a reliable, satisfactory end product.  Granted, the plan's lab was a major factor in this fiasco. However... Ahrens agreed and refunded our co-pay. Now to getting my wife's vision benefit eligibility restored.  We called our vision insurance and they had to call Ahrens to confirm the cancellation.  Two weeks later Ahrens had still not cancelled the order with the lab, so my wife's benefits were still showing as unavailable until 2024. Finally, after six weeks, her vision benefits have been reinstated and we were able to order her Rx through a mainstream optical store. As for Ahrens, poor customer support, poor follow-up, and poor attention to detail.  Their business hours are Mon-Thurs so not the easiest people for customers and insurance teams to contact. read more

I have had blurred vision that was getting worse as the days wore on. I went to a great eye doctor in Duvall but didn't get the prognosis I though I would get so I decided to try another eye doctor for a second opinion. I saw Dr. Ariel Lenning and she actually listened to my problems and took the time to check things out. She told me what I thought I had, dry eyes. She used some type of eye drops for a lubricant, (I will be calling her in the morning to see if I can get them), and I have to tell you that I am enjoying the best vision I have had in several years now!!! That is no lie. I have had to use reading glasses to see the computer but tonight, I don't need to use reading glasses and I have seen things.....(to the dismay of my wife), like dust under the couch, that I never saw before. I have spent the evening amazed at being able to see things sharper than I have ever seen before in years. Thank you very much. If you want to see an eye doctor that actually listens to what your are saying and acts on that, Dr. Lenning is kind, caring, thoughtful and above all.....very intelligent in her field. THANK YOU DR. LENNING FOR THE MOST AMAZING EVENING I HAVE EXPERIENCED IN YEARS WITH THE SHARPEST VISION I THOUGHT WAS GONE FOREEVER!!!!!!!!! Have to go now and work on faceting a gemstone.....without glasses!!! My daughter and I went there in April of 2017 for eyeglasses obviously! And they were quite nice. The DOCTORS themselves are alright. THE RECEPTIONIST'S DON'T KNOW THEIR ANYTHING Ass FROM A HOLE IN THE GROUND We have state ins. So I paid for 2 pair's of glasses and the state one's were free. But I paid to have the'anti-glare' put on ALL 3 of them. Mine and BOTH OF HERS! State glasses ALSO. Fast forward to March 2018. My daughter broke her glasses, I called and Claire told me "bring them in and maybe we can pop out the lenses and put them in new frame. Only for her to tell me that is not an option. Richard Ahren is very good at what he does! You don't find his depth of caring with those larger optical places. He has always taken the time to make sure my glasses fit just right! His quality of products is superior to other places. He may not be the least expensive, but he is the best! You do get what you paid for here! I sat down for my eye exam and the optomotrist immediately began a long lecture about how I could lose weight. While I could lose some weight, this was not his job as an optomotrist to begin my first ever session by going on and on about how I could lose weight. Then, later, he had me take my contacts out and directed me to the sink where there were two used contact containers (one with a previous client's dirty contacts still in them). After I told him there were only used cases, he threw them away and gave me a clean to use. I will not be returning. read more

This store has an incredibly unique selection of specialty frames from all over the world. I paid for one pair and got another for free! This small independently owned store in the middle of historic Monroe has incredible customer service. Richard, the Optometrist, was so helpful with information and in getting in my glasses as quickly as possible. Everyone in the store was so helpful and so friendly.
