I'm so grateful that I found someone last minute to do my braids! Niama is the owner and she is a hard worker. She was very flexible with my schedule. That is so important to me. Her braiding style is very tight and tailored. I got crochet braids with free tress water wave hair. She told me next time to shop for the hair with her. (I wanted a different type of wave) My braids took 4 hours. Which was great for me, I thought it would be longer. Her pricing is ok. I paid $150 for my crochet braids. I'm very disappointed with the lack of customer service and style that was providing for my daughter. My mother made an appointment and still had to wait 2 hours to be serviced. If I wasn't attending an event I would not have waiting. Full price was paid for a horrible service. Let me start by saying if I would have read these reviews I WOULD HAVE NEVER gone to Aicha to begin with. I must of found her on google and didn't go to good faithful yelp!!! It is good to know that I'm not the only one who has been victim to those commando military grade weapons of mass destruction she calls HANDS!! First visit- 9/2/21 I had a softball tournament to play in Labor day weekend and I wanted just two corn rolls plats to the back, I called her up she was nice. Told me $40 bucks and appointment was set. So I'm not sure if she doesn't have her shop anymore because I was told to meet her at her house, hey I have got some of my best braids at someones house so I ain't judging. My hair was washed blown out ready to go. She dried it a little more and off she went. She used my edge control ( which I prefer) and she had a can of Got 2b hair spray. We talked giggled a little, she did re do one of the braids catching her own mistake but I like that catch your own mistake instead letting me walk out the door. I even bought a bracelet from Africa, I'm all about support!! I was satisfied. she lives around the corner from me I locked her number in "el cerrito Braider" second visit- 12/3/21 WHAT THE FUCK!! - long review I was leaving to visit my mother for a month the next day, gave her a call, short notice she took me with no problem. I get there and she's with another women her friend, cousin, sister I don't know. we get in the house the smell of food in the air, guess it was dinner time in her house. no biggie. I noticed none of the products she had last time were visible. I asked her about the Got 2b spray, she said she ran out, I thought to myself "how is she gonna get it to hold".. LUCKY FOR ME SHE HAD NASTY ASS GORILLA SNOT" I had washed and blow dried my hair the day before by I have curly/nappy hair. She attempts to blow dry my hair with a blow dryer that doesn't have a come on it and all I feel is pain and all I hear is ripppppp rippppp... I'm light weight quietly freaking out. I say to her " you know that hurts. I usually don't say anything when someone is doing something I don't like to my hair, but Ive never been physically in pain. I thought I've been through all the hair hell I could go through at age 43. she continues to rake through it which would have been resolved if she would of sectioned it off. I said again I can't take it it hurts. So she put some moisture ( I think) and starts to part down the middle. The reason I'm not sure of some things is because this women she had with her starts to play music and sing along loudly & badly, it was really annoying. So she got through one braid, she goes to the other side and i hear again ripppppp rippppp, shes forcing the braid holding on the my hair so tight. Now by this time another customer has come to get their hair braiding, now shes in a hurry. She literately re braids the left side 3 times. She then proceeds to put an obscene amount of that gorilla snot all on my head. My insides could feel it. She leaves to go in the kitchen and she catches me feeling my hair and she says from the kitchen ( " I didn't put that much, I didn't put that much). Yall my hand was covered with the snot. I was disgusted and I hadn't even seen my hair yet, there are no mirrors. She didn't even set the Gorilla snot just let me walk/run out of there with a wet head!!! When I got to my car I cried. I had to use two masks I had in the car to wipe off all the Gorilla snot out of my hair. She also cut the ends of the braids blunt and right above my shoulders, I didn't want them down to my butt, but damn above my shoulders. The braids were uneven, bumpy looked like I did it myself. As soon as I got to Arizona the next day I took those out and made an appointment with a complete stranger to get box braids, hey it couldn't get any worse. To my surprise this random stranger saved my trip. She has been deleted from my phone!! Remember ladies we get what you pay for, I will now be going to my niece's gurl's shop who charges $110 for cornrolls and they look beautiful every time. For now I think I'm going to concentrate on giving my natural beautiful hair some love and attention. Cause at this point if anyone else messing up my hair I'm liable to go ballistic!!! yours truly! read more

Well, another wonderful braiding experience from Niama! We went big and bold with kinky curly and a tree braid in the front. A lotta hair but I love it. Niama is so sweet and she does such an excellent job. Plus, my hair has grown; she was able to braid my hair at the nape and she couldn't do that the last time. To comment on my last experience: I went over the two months and people were still complimenting me on my hair. I only lost four braids total; I remain highly impressed with the quality of her work. My stylist was really nice. I spent about 7 hours in the chair for passion twist. The only thing I had an issue with is my twist started to slip out as early as the next day. I paid about $200 and I feel that's a good amount of money for the hair to start coming out. I have had braids done in the past here and I did like it. The passion twist, not so much. Worst experience I have had in my life. This place is not professional at all. When I arrived to the shop the woman there kept saying my hair was too thick to braid into corn rows. I told her I could go home to blow dry and she kept saying it was okay. She told me to sit down so she can blow dry my hair and informed be she did not have a comb attachment to connect to the blow dryers she used a dirty comb to comb my hair whileN blow drying. My hair was being ripped out while blow drying while she was in the phone. I have had my hair braided in corn rows many times and has never had the issue of it being "too thick". She started to try to braid my hair had no gel no edge control just grease. After her attempting twice I told her that she needed to use gel or something to gel it down in order for the braids to be flat.she stops to and suggest that her sister can do a better job because she is a professional. (Which made me question if she even had her hair license ) she then told Me she had to go pick up her sister who lived 10 mins away so she left. She went and got her sister and her sister proceeded to attempt to do my cornrows once again with out gel or any type of edge control. The whole time the sister is doing my hair the other lady proceeds to tell me that my hair is still too thick and that normally two braids cost $85 because is harder. I left the shop and instantly took the braids down. If you are looking for someone to Insta corn rows you are better off trying it on your own. read more

Support your local businesses by booking an appointment for braids (corn-rolls) twists, regular singles, dread twists, sew-ins, etc. Your best bet is to call and inquire about prices but she probably will need to see your hair first. I had a very pleasant experience! She was pretty fast and I am please with the final outcome of my Senegalese Twists. Cheap for the length but great quality nonetheless. Mostly okay, but I don't think I'll go back. I got small single braids. Two of the younger ladies there were sweet and kind. The one who worked on me first had really gentle hands. Later another stylist came and was braiding my head with the intensity of a military commando - and I've never heard someone talk for that many hours straight without stopping (not to me). It was a bit of a barrage, but I'm sensitive. You have to pay cash, and I planned enough for tip too but in the end they price they told me ($400) was higher than the price they said in the beginning ($350), and since $400 was was all I had, plus the tip I was gonna do, hmmm. Dunno. The braids in the end were tight and clean though so I decided it was all worth it. The extensions they put in were not the best quality but they had no other options available, so I went with it. But they're super scratchy! Also after about 2 weeks though my braids were already frizzing out. I scizzored the frizz as best I could but not sure what else to do with all the new loose ends that keep poking out. I can't remember it being such a problem before, and this is the 4th time I've had full braids, but I can't tell if it's just my hair? It's been a while since I did this. Like I said, it was okay. Kinda pricey to just be okay though with low quality extensions and a wall of words in my ears for hours on end. They are definitely really good at the braiding part - that I'll say. It was FAST! So let's start with her text messages, if she's telling me 100$ for that length, okay. Perfect that's good pricing for that length. And as she was done at the length I was given, she says 100$ mind you I have 2 triple packs of hair still not open and she wanna tell me "I didn't even have to cut your hair. That's 100$ girl." Her husband comes in with no mask on and lays on the couch with no shoes, toes all out and touching the wall. With this COVID stuff going on, that's so unsanitary. There's also the water that she dips my hair in that she boils first and adds it to cold water to make it less hot....but that "cold" water was yellow.
