I was skeptical as I drove up to this hotel from the look outside. It looks fine but it wasn't what I was thinking it reminded me of maybe a dressed up apartment building when I drove up. But I will tell you looks can definitely be deceiving. The lobby is clean and the staff friendly and accommodating. The room was small but well maintained, clean, and very modern decor almost posh. I was traveling on business and this hotel ranks high on the best (without a full kitchen in the room) hotel I've stayed in on business travel. Quiet! And I mean church mouse quiet. I got the best sleep and no loud guests or door slamming. They offer valet parking in which it was $29 per evening. The valet parks the car in the hotel garage. They offer breakfast (hot or cold) that you could have brought to your room or you could go to the lobby dining area and enjoy. The breakfasts are for a cost. They offer free beverages in the lobby like fruit infused water, tea and coffee. Security seems on par as I felt safe in this hotel. There are some cool walkable restaurants and stores around the hotel. The staff were all nice to me. I recommend this hotel. read more

Stayed for the weekend recently while in town on business. Corner room the first night with a queen bed, a decent room with a great view of the area. Clean comfortable and even on the road it was relatively quiet Was moved to the upper floor, my second night there a king room on the back of the building and it was even quiter, more spacious and just as comfortable. Valet parking is the only real option here without a hike. There is no parking on or at the building only a loading zone. *Note: the day dude didnt know how to use a keyed car? honestly he pulled my hood latch and could not figure out how to use the ignition or start my car? The hood came open as I left the hotel to get on the highway a real wtf? moment A solid hotel a stones throw away from the university, harbor and all things Berkeley. 2.5 Stars would of been 3.5 Stars rounding up for the great night manager, check in staff. ***but deducted a star plus and rounding Down for the moronics of the Dude (a grownass man to busy on his cell phone) who didnt retrieve my vehicle safely and put my safety in serious jepoardy, still shaking my head over that one 00944 read more

Best kept secret won't be secret for long - this little hotel is a modern boutique hotel masquerading as a Best Western - it packs in so much value for the price and has warm and friendly service. This is my first stay here and I'm so glad I selected it! Camilo the night front desk manager was very welcoming, kind, and helpful in every way. Thanks for the wonderful welcome and making me feel right at home! Great service deserves a great review! The property is completely new/updated, modern, very clean, and pretty quiet. It's located in the very walkable neighborhood on University Avenue close to Trader Joe's, Target, UCB, Target, and an eclectic collection of interesting restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are functional and thoughtfully designed for a comfortable stay, for studying, including extended stays as it has great little drawer, shelves, and other little built in storage space. I love the views from room 308, which has corner windows and lots of natural light. The rooftop is a beautiful place to watch the sunset. The bed is a touch on the soft side but I still slept well. The bed is more full sized than queen but it was fine as I had it all to myself. There's a complimentary coffee and tea bar, kombucha on tap for sale; breakfast to order from a local restaurant delivered to you, Keurig in the room with complimentary bottled water, a mini fridge, water glasses and glass mugs in the room, a programmable safe, ironing board, Kleenex branded tissues, Drybar toiletries including their nicely formulated lotion, valet parking, bikes for you to ride, the list of amenities goes on and on! Someone put their heart into this little place and it shows! I didn't check yet if they have a gym but you could easily get your workout by walking up and down University Avenue. Oh and they have bikes, and two TRX in case you want to work on your split ring tricep dips on the rooftop while watching the sunrise lol. This place is a hidden gem for now, but probably not hidden for long. You won't regret staying here! Update! This place is still great, they are undergoing some renovations. Rosie the day manager was really wonderful too, offering to move me to a different room as my AC wasn't working. I can see why this place has so many great reviews- I travel a lot for work and this is probably the best Best Western I've been to! Shout out to their staff who were all super friendly and professional. The room is big and spacious, and very clean. I really liked the office/desk set up. The only complaint is I kept trying to turn the heat up and it wouldn't go past 65 degree. And my colleague's room down the hall was too warm and wouldn't go down below 72 degree. The hotel is conveniently located, with a lot of amenities nearby including a Target, a nice Thai place and delicious coffee. They offer happy hour from 5-6 where they offer complimentary beer, wine and Kombucha on tap which is awesome! Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in town! read more

Mattress firmness is on the (very) soft range with little support. The TV is equipped with satellite programming, Netflix streaming, YouTube,SLing & Google Play apps Wi-Fi performance is average: 24-40 Mbps down 20-25 Mbps up 0.8% packet loss 10ms latency 7ms jitter I am not a fan of properties that charge an early checkin fee but, overall, I would recommend this location if you can tolerate the mattress. read more

Last minute trip to Berkeley and I booked Aiden on Priceline. I'm so glad I did! It's conveniently located near Cal. We even took the bus to campus one day because that was easier than driving there and parking. But, it's close enough that we walked back. The valet parking $25/day was worth it because we didn't check in til after midnight. And the prospect of finding parking on the street did not sound appealing. They have a small garage but, they have hydraulic lifts to almost double their capacity. Nice feature! Aiden felt more like a boutique hotel than a Best Western. The lobby is so inviting and they have a coffee/tea bar and kombucha on tap. The rooms are nice. And the complaint from other yelpers about the toilet being weird is spot on. It's suspended too high, I think. And, the buttons on the wall, the low water level, and the whooosh it makes when flushed, remind me all too well of airplane commodes. Every staff member we encountered was very friendly and professional. I'll definitely keep the Aiden on my list if I'm not able to book a Vrbo nearby. read more

5 stars all around! The staff is amazing! The location is amazing! Walking distance to a BART station, to the Berkeley campus, to the water. This place restored my faith in hotels! The room was clean and modern and everything worked! It's a new hotel so of course it's nice but they seem to be taking really really good care of it. I also thought it was really cool how they have bicycles you can borrow for the day and the views from the rooftop at sunset were beautiful! Everything about the hotel just felt luxurious from the lobby to the hallways to the rooms, I forgot I was staying at a Best Western haha The staff was out of this world! Customer service skills 100! I can't say enough good things about the staff. The doors weren't setup to be used with the room cards yet so they had to let us in every time and one night we didn't get back until 3am and the girl was super nice and said "no it's okay I hope you guys had fun!" cause we kept apologizing for her having to let us in. They were also so quick to get our car from valet, I forget the managers name but he hustled! He made sure our stay was fantastic! The breakfast was very nice too! Not those basic little muffins and some assorted fruit but very fancy pastries, I had a large chocolate croissant every morning. It was so good. I highly recommend this hotel! It's been a while since I've stayed there but I hope it's stayed the same. read more

The staff here are super sweet! Big time thanks for tracking down my elderly father when he wouldn't answer his phone! Really above and beyond the service call, as every time I walked past the desk a staff member seemed to be doing some kind of tech support for one person or another (and I know they helped my mom when I wasn't around as well). Big clean rooms with lovely windows and plenty of natural light. The rooftop is not to be missed! Great location. Reasonable prices. This hotel is new and super clean. The location was spectacular for us to be right in the heart of the best home goods, salvage and mid-century modern stores. We spent 2 nights at this hotel and each night we were able to find street parking and avoid the garage/valet fee. If we hadn't scored spots close to the hotel entrance, it definitely would have been a walk to other parking. The hotel is on two main streets and then residentials all around there. The main streets have meters you have to feed during the day with a couple hour limit. There is a 7-11 and a gas station on the surrounding corners so snacks and fuel are easy to access. We were a short drive from all of the stops we had planned and that made it easy to grab lunch to go and eat back in our room. The entire hotel (not just the room) were spotless and that cleanliness made us feel safer. The room has a nice small desk that we could place meals and snacks on. The wallpaper was very cool - newsprint with stories of the history of Berkeley. The side tables were tasteful and plenty of space. The windows opened to get some fresh air in during the evening once it had cooled down. The room was stuffy when we returned from running around all day so the breeze coming in was nice. The only weird part was the toilet which was kind of suspended on the wall. I'm not exactly tall so it was weird to use the bathroom and not touch the floor with my feet. They offer a breakfast for a reasonable cost but when we opted for it one morning it wasn't the best quality. The microwave grade burrito wasn't good at all and the other items were nothing special. I'd skip breakfast service. They offered us beer/wine for their happy hour which was a nice touch. We couldn't go up to the rooftop deck until late at night due to all we had going on all day but looking around at all the lights and traffic in the dark was pretty cool. I wish we had more time to go up and relax with a cocktail or a snack. This will be the only place I stay when I am in the area. I don't think it gets better than this hotel! read more

Finally a comfortable place to stay in the Berkeley area. I traveled there solo for work and sifted through gastly reviews for similarly priced hotels in the area, seeing wild complaints of everything from getting scabies to being punched in the face in the lobby. No thanks! I'm super thankful for this hotel, despite being weirdly a Best Western, was clean, comfortable, well located and safe. It's also a short walk to grocery stores and restaurants in the area as well as a quick ride to other towns in the area. It's definitely at the top of my list for any future stays in the area! read more

THESE GUYS DONT GIVE A SH... i just discovered i had covid and tried to either cancel my reservation or change it to another date. The Aiden will not let you do either so i will end up eating $700 in reservations. This is great customer service. I didn't ask to get covid and i guess if i was inconsiderate, i would show up on my reservation date and breathe all over the people working there just to prove that i have it. i think this "i don't care" attitude proves once again that my opinion of Berkeley businesses haven't changed after all these years. It's just sad that they have to act this way even when you have a legit sickness. Way to go guys. i hope all your guests arent as considerate as i am and show up with their sickness. Right now it's a very good value. Don't be misguided it's no 4 star resort. Ordered coffee for room service. The first time they didn't bring any milk or creamer. The second time they only brought Coffee mate, no real cream. There is no complementary breakfast here. The hallways are dirty. One person handles the front desk and valet parking. They are short staffed. The general manager is unfriendly and just sits and reads a book. The rooms are very modern with great views. But it's only a Best Western don't forget. read more

This place is newly remodeled. Friendly and helpful staff, clean and modern quiet room. Complimentary fast WiFi. $25 per day for parking in the garage or there is street parking. They have 2 Tesla charging spots (about 35-37 mi/hr speed) available in the garage just let the front desk know if you need to use it, comes with the parking. We needed a place to stay overnight in Berkeley on our way driving down from WA, and this was the most reasonable place we could find. Airbnb's nearby were like $100 more. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at Aiden! Staff was incredibly kind & helpful, room was clean & modern, LOVED the valet parking option, and the roof deck is awesome! Only downside we had was the room did not get as cold as we would have liked, and the air conditioning vent was in an odd spot - by the door, and the hallway blocked it from reaching the bed - so that didn't help with cooling the room down - wish someone had thought that through a little better. But besides that - one of my most enjoyable hotel stays, and we will definitely be back! read more

This was picked due to my wife having surgery at a local hospital and she wanted to spend a couple nights here so she was close to the hospital if something happend after surgery. The place is so new you can smell the newness. The rooms are well decorated and very comfortable. It's in a great neighborhood and close to most of berkley and in fact the whole bay area due to bart within walking distance (2 blocks). The staff usually only one person on the desk are incredibly helpful and very nice. If you're in town this is a great place to stay. read more

Drove up from LA with my family (including an 8 mos old) and stayed at the Aiden over T'giving break seeing fam in Oak/SF. We could not have made a better decision in staying here! -Clean, spacious rooms with all the amenities -A rooftop with a great view -Valet parking (there is street parking though) -VERY conveniently located. Coffee shops, Target, etc. The service was also top notch, shout out to Rose for being at the desk to let us in at 4am. What a surprise. Big, spotless modern airy room, attractive and comfortable. The windows even opened a little. A big plus for me. The staff is charming and helpful at a moments notice. Jerome, the manager, especially efficient and kind. You can walk just a few blocks to the Hidden Cafe in Strawberry Creek Park for coffee. If you need anything you forgot to pack there's a Target a block away with a CVS or a 7-11 across the street. I spent my three days walking down through the adorable Berkeley neighborhood to elegant 4th Street shops and restaurants. 2 minor problems: it took the water almost five minutes to get hot in the sink and shower but it DID get hot. And I could never get the Keurig coffee maker to work. But there was good coffee in the lobby. And a microwave and fridge in the room. read more

This definitely has the nice feel of a boutique hotel. Staff is very friendly and greets you every time you come back in to the hotel. Always checking to make sure your needs are met. The location was perfect for me as my son just lives down a few blocks. There are 2 coffee shops (Starbucks and one other) in walking distance. A connivence store and target are across the street as well. It was very quiet at night. There are a few good restaurants in walking distance too. They offer valet parking, but there is also street parking if you prefer. They have a roof top lounge area that is pretty cool. They just need to add a propane fire pit for warmth. The room was nice, good black out blinds that kept all the light out. There are a lot of convenient outlets. USB and USBc ports as well. Loved my stay here and will definitely return on my next visit to Berkeley read more
