I started training here in February, coming off a year hiatus from muay thai due to an ACL tear. Before I even started my first class, I immediatley felt welcomed. Kru (Coach) Brian introduced himself right away and got to know me and my skill level. In the almost seven years since I started training, I have never had a muay thai coach deliver instruction with such detail, but in a way that is understandable to all levels of students present in the class. Brian is extremely perceptive at observing movement and identifying exactly what needs to be adjusted to help everyone perfect the technique we are working on, and he is really good at explaining things in multiple ways. He is a really great teacher, as well as an awesome fighter too! The classes are structured in a way where we build upon techniques over the week (or longer term), which is great for developing your skillset, and also wonderful for refining your technique if you've been in the game for a while. Along with great instruction, the gym is very much absent of any "ego"...but don't assume this means the other students aren't serious about the sport. There is a group of badass fighters that train here, and they are happy to train with others at all levels. Everyone is genuinely friendly, which gives the gym a great vibe and makes me look forward to heading to the gym as often as possible. Final, but important notes: all equipment in the gym is in great condition and the gym is very clean. They also recently started a strength and conditioning program. Like it at all..pretty much threw me in the fire and felt like I was used as a dummy and made me do one move over and over again without knowing why or learning about the background and lineage of their wing chun. I just felt it wasn't authentic and was wasting my money. Sifu AL Agbulos is very authentic and taught me the first move and basics to build a strong foundation all while teaching me the background and history.
