Unlike most other…read moreinvoluntary patients, I very much wanted to be in a hospital because I desperately needed the help - help that I unfortunately didn't get until another hospitalization elsewhere. Dr Levinson made such reckless decisions in my care that he almost got me killed. Dr Levinson had decided on a diagnosis for me before he ever met me. Our first conversation was brief and just him collecting information on my treatment history. He insisted I that I *needed* specific meds that I had tried and done poorly on in the past. Then he didn't see me for a week, came back and told me I'd be discharged the next day - a decision he had reached, again, without speaking to me. Me as well as three consecutive shifts of nurses voiced concerns over the discharge order. (While I was packing to leave, my nurse was literally pleading with his supervisor to not let me walk out the door.) I was sent home without a discharge plan. Right before a long holiday weekend. While acutely suicidal. I credit interventions by my nurses and two other patients on my last night there with keeping me alive that day. I eventually got the help I needed at another hospital, where the treatment team arrived at a different diagnosis and spent a month helping me stabilize before discharging me to a lower level of care.

Working with her to understand the diagnosis I had been given when I was admitted involuntarily 40 days prior, was tremendous. She started me on the meds that were previously prescribed and then quickly got me to therapeutic levels. It now appears that my original diagnosis was incorrect. While the meds (Lithium) do actually enhance the quality of my disposition the problems still exist even on this medication. Seeing that, we took a 360 degree approach and thanks to her "care" I'm optimistic that I can get my acute problems under control in a few months collaboratively with my regular psychiatrist (who Dr. Urban took the time to reach out to as anyone would expect an inpatient doctor to do). Even better I'm certain that I can, in time, reach a total quality of life greater than I've ever known before. I sincerely wish there were a pill to fix a relationship and heal a family. For now I'm focused on the one person I'm supposed to be in control of. Me! The only person who should be. I actually know a few patients who don't feel Dr. Urban is treating them well. It must be very difficult to work in a profession where the disease you're treating causes your patients to be unable to see the value in the treatment itself. I went to her for problems with depression, anxiety, and trying to figure out what else was wrong because there was clearly something else there causing so much misery, but she just kept trying to give me TMS treatments, which wasn't helpful at all or trying to say that it was just my thyroid and I should take thyroid medication. I was weirded out by that. What's funny is I just got some tests done with my regular doctor and my thyroid results came back normal. But the ABSOLUTE WORST worst part of my experience with her and why I stopped contact altogether is because of her response when I told her that my therapist had diagnosed me with borderline personality disorder. ms urban rolled her eyes, and looked at me like I was being ridiculous and acknowledged the fact that I had been with my boyfriend for four years. She said I couldn't have had borderline personality disorder because people with that diagnosis cannot have relationships, so my boyfriend must be an angel then. That was one of the most vile and disgusting things I've ever heard a psychiatrist or any doctor say to me. She should be stripped of all her licenses and kicked off of the psychiatry board. She does not need to be working with anyone with any mental health disorders if she's so cold, rude and perpetuates the stigma of BPD.

I had 2 treatments of TMS done, on 2 different types of machines. Overall it took about 4 months in total. And honestly- I needed it!! I came to TMS after a disastrous year and had to stop everything and do self care. I'm so glad I did! I am walking away having had downtime to work out various issues and plan and organize for my future. Feels good! Here is some information that might be helpful for others: 1. At first I thought it made sense to get the TMS treatment over with, early in the morning. But I became sleepy after treatment and ended up needing to nap in the middle of the day, which threw off my circadian rhythm. So, eventually I started having treatments later in the day and that meant I slept better at night. 2. Treatment consists of sitting in a comfy chair and putting on a cap. Then the TMS machine is lowered onto the head and the magnetic pulses start. The pulses are like having a wood pecker beating against one's skull in a specific area. Depending on what TMS machine is being used, I had either earplugs or a mouth guard, or both. The treatment rooms are set up so patients watch TV during their session. My sessions (protocol) were all under 20 minutes. I could almost always watch 2 Shaun the Sheep (Mossy Bottom) episodes each time. yay! 3. Check with the office for the various types of treatments/length/time to see what best fits your need. I understand in the future there may be a chance that patients can receive multiple treatments in one day, instead of coming back daily for a single treatment. 4. I brought some unsalted peanuts to feed the crows that live in the trees in front of the office building. Because the appts can be set up around a regular time, the crows knew to expect my car and were happy to see me. 5.There is a taco truck a block away. Grab a taco! 6. Across the street is the Burlingame Plaza Shopping Center- Starbucks, grocery store, etc. 7. And last but not least, if I was not comfortable telling people the truth I just said I had to go to "physical therapy" for a medical issue. Worked fine, no one ever asked what I was up to after that.

Not only did she give helpful advice and information, she was able to coordinate with other health care providers as a care team. The only reason why I rated her a 4 was because she has fairly limited flexibility in scheduling.
