This is the BEST place for breakfast or a home cooked meal in the comox valley. From the hand made perogies, borscht, cabbage rolls, cooked to perfection breakfasts. This is one of the few places worth my money. There are many sub par over priced restaurants here. The prices are very reasonable and serve an awesome dining experience. Staff are super friendly and makes it seem like you're at home. They have a customer for life! read more

I was in Comox visiting, and had a few hours to kill by myself. I stumbled upon this cafe and boy am I happy I stopped in. The breakfast was exceptionally cheap, and the quality was great. They even have Gluten free options! And the GF bread they use is so tasty! My water was constantly filled, even with an almost full cafe and only one staff on the floor. My husband and I go most Saturday mornings for breakfast. We are sitting here right now. Everyone is friendly and good home cooked food.

I went to lunch with my children, the had grill cheese,chicken finger with fries. The fries are home made! My son (5) cleaned them up. Then chicken finger were very impressive. Nice coating. I had the Ukrainian mix plate. I think it was $15 ish. It was great. Very much like my Mom and Baba made. We will visit again. The wait staff was nice and friendly and are very good this children. I was treated horribly today at the Beachwood Cafe. One of the staff went out yelled at me before I had a chance to even walk in the door to order something. No, I do not go in there to tie up a table. I don't have time to do that. This is what people could have thought after watching me being yelled at like that. So I would say avoid that place. It was so humiliating and unfair and possibly could happen to you. I have only been in there once before. I had to get to work and answer email, and I wanted to get a nice breakfast and I was willing to wait. Answer my mail and go to work. The man who came out, talking to me in very loud voice, really humiliated me. It was a horrible way to start the day. I felt humiliated and very alone. Talking about eating alone. I wasn't even allowed to do that in peace and dignity. People were smirking and staring at me through the window as he yelled at me. Clearly he pre-judged me, and I am warning others, if you want to go out with your computer, looking for a nice place to eat, and you have limited time, beware there may be a chance you might get yelled at the way I was. And who wants to start their day like that. If they don't want people answering their mail there while they eat, then don't put up a wifi sign advertising public wifi. What a waste of time, being treated like that. They don't seem to communicate very well there. The first time I went in, I was trying to order the benny, I waited for around ten minutes, before I went as far as I was allowed to go, to ask him for the benny so I could get to work, he gave me the password for the internet instead, ignoring what I was asking him for. Then ten minutes later he came to my table and asked me for my order. As if I had time to be wasting like that. There was only two other tables to wait on, and they came in after me. So I ordered a bagel. And then I thought maybe next time I will get the benny. Then when I came in today to have a nice breakfast, he yelled at me like that, even though there was two empty tables and a man by himself possibly reading a book. What a horrible experience. It is demeaning to be pre-judged like that, and then people who were eating there, possibly assumed that i go in there all the time, tying up a table, and now I may be a victim of the rumour mill. And all I wanted to do was have a nice breakfast, just like the other people. Instead I was humiliated in a public place, people appeared to be staring and smirking at me through the window. What a horrible experience. I say avoid it. I won't ever go back in there again. Be warned. There are much nicer friendlier places to go to than that one. read more

My mom and I had a great goodbye lunch here hours before I left her alone in her beautiful new city. The service was friendly - jovial, even - and the room was pretty full for a late Thursday morning. My Mexican breakfast wrap was a good size and quite tasty, filled with scrambled eggs, peppers, cheese, etc. I really loved the way Beachwood does their breakfast potatoes - rosti style, with lots of nice crunchy bits. Great food and a nice atmosphere means I'll be going back. read more

This place could be so much more. The eggs Benny where good in general, but my hash browns had sat on a griddle for so long they were burnt and hard. My dining partner was not happy with her meal And asked for another dish. The dish she sent back was a skillet, there was four little pieces of sausage. When her new dish came( Benny). The whites were ready to run off the plate. I will say that her hash browns were gorgeous minus the seasoning salt. When the bill came we were charged for the returned meal. Which was throw in the garbage, it was removed from the bill at that time. The dog would of enjoyed the meal. NOT LIKE IT WAS WHEN THEY HAD HOME MADE JAM AND BREAD. read more

I was looking for a place to grab a cup of coffee in the area, and stumbled upon Beachwood. I walked in and was instantly greeted with a smile. The coffee was great, and I loved the atmosphere. Service was exceptional! Would definitely recommend! read more

Poor breakfast meals: 7 meals ordered, 3 returned - Eggs Benny had long hair cooked into it, a large piece of wrapping/wax paper was in the hashbrowns, and eggshells cooked into the poached eggs. Hashbrowns in all the meals were undercooked - we realized that they were using frozen hashbrowns. At that point, most of us lost our appetite and simply stopped eating. Awful service: Our waitress seemed bothered when we asked for ketchup and other condiments. When we told her about the problems with our food, she simply said "oh" and took the plates without another word. After a 15 minute wait, we were given a reluctant sorry and had 2 meals comped. The lack of genuine acknowledgment was awkward and made us feel like we shouldn't have complained. Even the 4 youth that were with us commented that the opportunity to make things right was totally missed. Very disappointed with the food and service - will not be returning again. read more

My wife and I were visiting Courtenay, Comox looking to buy a retirement home last December. In out travels we noticed the Beachwood Cafe and saw that they served perogies, so my Polish heritage cried out for some. I'm handicapped and upon entering the cafe my wife asked if we could have a bench seated table because of my handicap and the waitress ignored that and attempted to seat us where she wanted. My wife again asked and it was obvious she was now upset. She seated us at the back at bench seat but the table was bolted to the floor. When she left my wife moved us from a that table to a table of four. When the waitress came out of the kitchen and saw us sitting their she snapped at us and said you'll have to move if it gets busy. The cafe was half full at the time. My wife is very protective of me and she was ready to slap this bitch. Obviously we didn't stay. Upon leaving my wife told her in front of everyone what she thought of her and her attitude. We can't comment on the food but if you want to be abused this is the place and if you're handicapped forget about eating there. read more

I would never return to this cafe, me and a friend went in once for breakfast , I ordered sausage and eggs, when it came to table I could smell the sausages which smelled really old and rancid, also they were butterflyed which I hate , dries them out, anyhow told waitress and she took them back, I could hear the cook shouting at here that they werent old, when they came out again they werent much better, so I never ate them , and we have never returned again read more
