The cool stuff is they have a service that is not insurance but will cover up to $2000 in losses at no charge to the customer so I didn't get the email insurance as my stuff isn't worth near that coverage. It's nice not to be mandated to have insurance is your stuff, moving boxes, doesn't need coverage. Also, they have a truck you can use for free. There are requirements for using like gas fill up and don't crash. Anyway, it's day one but so far so excellent. Thanks Bailey!

In Feb 2024 I called 11 different storage companies on the West side of Salt Lake valley. 10 of them would not tell me what their history is for raising rents on existing customers, and would not connect me to anyone with authority to discuss it. I had been renting from Extra Space Storage for 7 years, during which time they raised my rent an exorbitant 140%, but would never connect me with anyone to explain why. They are currently charging new customers 120% less than me. Bait and Switch! When I called Copperview, I talked directly with the owner, Jim. He explained that he treats existing and new customers equally when he his costs require rate changes. I talked to two different people who have rented from him for years, and they each confirmed that rates have risen reasonably, close to inflation. They are pleased with how they have been treated. I started renting at Copperview in Feb 2024 for the lowest rate of any of the 11 companies I had called, for my size unit. He and his staff have treated me very well. One itty bitty thing that is a little tiny bit of a scoche annoying is the roads on site- (I know, it's not on level ground it's on a hill & the level is in tiers throughout to keep each unit level but the storage roads can be rough on your car sooooo DRIVE SLOW)- I'm completely fine with it (it is what it is) as long as I drive really really slow. The inner hallway units are not too well-lit, but a great price. You can get two smaller units for *cheaper* than a single equivalent-sized outside unit! The high ceilings are also a good feature, so you can get a smaller unit and just super-stack everything to the roof! The place is not climate-controlled, or even 100% weather-proof, but still very good. I covered up my stuff with a tarp just in case, and the tarp just got pretty dusty over the course of a year. Automatic credit card payments are convenient, too.

DO NOT! I had a storage unit here for a number of years. One day I received the strangest email…read morefrom them, something to the effect of... "we noticed there's not a lock on your storage unit, feel free to come and put a lock on it at your earliest convenience." Can you say, "inside job!" Duh, if my unit has had a lock on it for many years, why would I just decide to take the lock off w/out moving my belongings out?!?! I immediately called them and they told me that they had done rounds the Thursday before and the lock was there, so it must've happened over the weekend. Needless to say, the lock was CUT, long gone and OVER HALF of my storage was stolen! I must say, in the days of "rings" "nests" and cheap, easy camera installation, I was utterly shocked to learn that they only have 2 cameras, both from the olden days and both pointed only at the front gate. Are you serious?!? When I called to ask if they could check their cameras and that the police would be coming to fingerprint later that day. The office manager giggled while she asked me, "do you have any enemies." The police found glove prints but no traceable fingerprints. Of course the manager said she couldn't see anything suspicious on the camera footage. I immediately moved the remainder of what was left out of the storage unit without telling Aspen Springs- I wanted to see how long it would take them to notice. Three months passed w/ out a word from them and then I got an email reminder that it was time to pay my next 6 months worth of rent. Clearly, my stuff was stolen months prior to when it was reported to me which would explain why I could not find any of it at the local pawn shops or online.
