I live in Virginia and was planning on purchasing a brand new Shelby GT350 in Mitchell, South Dakota. Trying to figure out how to transport the car from SD to VA was becoming a headache since I was reading all sorts of bad reviews and nightmare scenarios, but then I came across Wes Hopkins through his YouTube channel, Auto Transport for Dummies. His videos are extremely informational and they gave me a clear view of how the auto transport industry works. I contacted him and he gave me a solid quote, but he warned me that Mitchell, SD is a low traffic area so it might take some time to locate a truck. This ended up being the case; I had to wait almost 2 weeks until a carrier submitted an offer to pick up my car but Wes was honest throughout the whole process and he responded to my texts almost instantly. Once he found a driver, the pickup was arranged extremely quickly and Wes gave me a delivery estimate of 4-6 days. I remember getting a text from the dealership salesman saying that this driver was the most careful guy ever when it came to loading the car onto his trailer. The driver that he picked, Luis of Lumel Luxury Transport LLC (contracted with Alpha Trans Services Inc), also arrived at my house in literally a day! For all of Wes's videos saying that auto carriers are not Amazon Prime, Luis is the clear exception! My car came in mint condition, not a single scratch. Luis was also a very friendly dude and I could tell he takes great pride in his work. I got the runaround from Amerifreight and I got constantly spammed from Montway. I was frustrated and unhappy. I ran across Wes from AirRyd shipping on the Internet. I watched several of his informative videos on YouTube (this is an important process; you need to become an educated consumer). I then decided to give his company a chance. You see, I was trying to figure out the balance between finding the most reliable yet cost effective company to ship my 2020 Ford Mustang GT350 Shelby from Washington State to Florida. Thank god I found out Wes's company through YouTube and decided to give them a shot. He was able to get my Shelby picked up in a timely manner and delivered exactly on the requested date I needed! Got a price projection (not a set price) within a few minutes, asked a bit more questions about the location and the probability of timing (all of which were answered politely and promptly) and decided to book with them. Three days after booking with them, I received an assigned trucker to haul my Corolla from Oregon to Ohio. This is probably very dependent on the trucker (I had TECH TRANSPORT LLC) and other various factors, but I was surprised that they were able to pick my car up at the earliest date I requested and delivered my car within the earliest date I requested. I still can't believe how smoothly everything went (besides a big mess up on the drop off process, which was 100% my fault and not the trucker or Midwest Exotic Auto Transport). Needed to transport my 1990 Corvette Z51 from California to San Antonio Texas. To me it's precious cargo. My issue was different from most, I didn't need a quick pick up, I need to make sure the car did not arrive at its destination before I did. I looked at all the usual brokers, but I was impressed by the video's Wes did providing background on the industry, process and costs. I am used to shipping cargo as the former manager for trade shows of a major aerospace company. I didn't want to overpay but I wasn't pinching pennies, I wanted my car delivered safely, and efficiently, I wanted an enclosed trailer. I ended up working out the shipping over a couple of late nights as my house closed on a 10 day escrow and I was busy with multiple moving pieces. I was flexible, my mechanic would hold the car, and the driver contracted would pick it up from him, and call me when he was a day out from delivering it. The carrier picked up my car three days after I left California which was fine with me, and delivered it three days later on time, in great condition. The car was riding in a big rig trailer, pretty chrome just as you would imagine for exotic car hauling, clean as a whistle inside and amazingly out. My driver was careful with my Vette which was parked under a Lambo and behind a Bentley. Could I have found cheaper, maybe that wasn't my criteria, what I found was a provider that was straight forward, no pressure, answered all questions, worked with me to meet my needs for pickup and delivery and was in my opinion a great value. Quality and care were my value points. When my car was picked up I was sent multiple pictures of the car before it was loaded, yes CYA I know but the right thing, images of it loaded.. Great communication, excellent follow up to questions I had well in transit because on the receiving end I was busy moving into a new house and was in the sales office buying another when the car arrived. Would I use airryd/Midwest Exotic Auto Transport again, in a heartbeat. They delivered everything promised. I like the flat brokerage fee, I paid cash to the driver, and I like knowing that that person actually entrusted with my cargo is getting the reward of the contract and exercising the care for my goods that brings. I don't recommend this business. I paid almost $1,200 to have my Honda Civic shipped from Arizona to North Carolina. Wes made it a more stressful time while I was moving cross country. I spoke with him on the phone twice. The first time I told him the day I would be in NC and that I had no one there to accept the car. The second phone call a week later to firm up the move, he had no idea who I was. Again I told him the date I would be there and no one I knew would be in NC to accept the car if they got there before me. The trucking company (third party) picked my car up with no problem. The day before I would be in NC, I get a call that my car is there. This is where things got sticky, Wes and I were exchanging texts and he told me that I never told the day I would be in NC and that no one would be there to accept my car. I don't like being called a liar. Very unprofessional. When I get to my AirBnb where the trucker left my car, it was not unlocked as promised. Luckily I located my second fob. Wes tells me the key is in the car under the passenger mat. I searched my whole car and no fob. Later, Wes tells me to look under the front and back mat at my AirBnb residence. There it was. FML. I wouldn't use AirRyd again unless you like being treated like *rap. Maybe if you are a man you are treated better. read more

If you have never shipped your car cross country or shipped it in general you will find out real quick how tricky this is. Context: I was moving from New York to California and did not know anything about cost and process. I mistakenly put my phone number in one of those quote websites and i received a TON of calls from all kinds of sketchy people to the point where it was just too hard to sift through what was real and what was someone just trying to make a hug profit of my inquiry. I recently purchased a 1977 Monza Mirage off Ebay and had to take care of the shipping. I first contacted Reliable but they wanted around $1550 and three weeks for enclosed transport. I contacted Midwest Exotic Transport and Wes was able to get me an enclosed transport (expensive, $1525, but you get what you pay for) all the way from Kingman, AZ to Helotes, TX. Even with carries being overloaded from the mass exodus of people fleeing the west coast, I had the Monza in just a week after the Ebay seller received his payment. Purchasing a car off Ebay can be risky and stressful, working with Wes to transport the car eased my anxiety. Wes hooked me up with the WORST possible truck driver imaginable. Extremely rude man who called me with NO heads up that my car had arrived. Banks were closed and I was stressing trying to find a way to get the cash. The driver also insisted I go pick up the car from him over an HOUR away from my address! You've got to be kidding me! Im paying to have it delivered to my address! Of course when I tell this to Wes he is nowhere to be found and he stops replying to my texts. After long negotiations, I finally came to an agreement with the driver to have to delivered to my address. Unbelievable! Then when my car is delivered to me, it's absolutely filthy! I know it was in an open carrier but NO WAY should it look the way it did. Could not even see through the windshield it was so dirty. It made it difficult for me to inspect the car since I couldn't see through the filth. A thousand bucks AIN'T CHEAP. It just goes to show there was little consideration for my car. I could drive my car for 3 days straight and not have it get that dirty! Furthermore, the truck driver refused to wear a mask to greet me (during COVID) had the nerve to complain upon delivering it to me saying, "most people come pick up the car". The business did contact me regarding my review and offered to reduce their fee to make me happier and I was going to redo my review until I read their reply which is incorrect. I received the shipping quote via email at nearly the same time the vehicle was picked up. By the time I saw the email the vehicle was already on the road. I did not push them or rush them to do anything special. The only reason I was contacting them was to make sure that the vehicle would be ready (dealer prep) to keep them from wasting a trip to pick up a vehicle that wasn't ready yet. He did say that they typically text you if the price is going to be substantially higher but that didn't happen in my case. I never expected a flat fee as the AirRyd website does a good job of explaining how the process works. No complaints about the service quality at all I just would like to have been notified via text regarding the price increase so I could have made the call one way or another. read more
