I looked at other reviewers comments before I called Steve from Ajax and I am so glad I did. First off, I called him on a Friday and within 40 minutes he came out to take a look. We then scheduled the work for that Saturday. He was prompt, personable, polite, knowledgeable and he explained all that he was going to do. This job was to get the overgrowth of what was coming over from my neighbor's tree into our condo courtyard patio area. The neighbor gave permission to climb the tree and also my neighbor used him to take down a lot more than what we had Steve do. His work was great. His clean up was great. I will definitely use him again and will tell my friends about him as well. Pricing was fair and reasonable. He and his partner Dan did a great job and were awesome to work with. Thank goodness we found Steve and his team! Within hours of becoming home owners, we received a disconnection threat from ComEd. Apparently our tree was affecting the power lines. I had no idea about how to handle any of this. Luckily, I found Ajax. Hours later, Steve was at our house to assess the situation. Now, two days later the tree is gone and ComEd is pleased. They were prompt, polite, thorough, and an all around pleasure to work with. We had no idea how much something like this should cost, but found their rates very reasonable. Steve and Andrea were wonderful. I called on a Sunday and the phone was answered immediately. Steve came out to give me a quote within the hour, we set an appointment for two days and because of a cancellation, we were able to have them come over the next day. The tree I had trimmed is on a small piece of land in my front yard. Although I liked the privacy the overgrown tree offered, Steve explained that the branches needed balance and proceeded to expertly cut the tree. It really looks great! I would like to say Ajax Tree Service is a great family owned business. Steve's wife answered the phone...she has a very pleasant voice. Steve came out the same day to give me an estimate. Steve and his wife were here the next day to take down my pine tree in my front yard. Hard to believe it was just the two of them. They did it and my yard looks beautiful. Steve also had to grind out my stump. Cleanup went quick. They know what they are doing and the equipment they brought out made my tree disappear. I'm going to use Ajax for future work. Ajax was great! Steve and his wife were very attentive from the moment I called them to get a quote until the job was complete! Very reliable- always on time, excellent communication, and very open about their insurance coverage. Fair, reasonable, honest quotes. Took care of business in a timely manner and made sure neighbors yards were cleaned up before they left. Ajax managed to do the job without any complaints or hesitations although they were working with a tight alley, small entrances/exits to property, and a small Chicago lot sandwiched between 2 large buildings. I found Steve, the owner of Ajax Tree Service, pretty much by accident. I was taking down a tree in my back yard when the chain on my chain saw broke. Driving to get new one, I happened to be behind Steve's truck in traffic. I jotted down the phone number on the truck, just in case I couldn't finish the job. I did get the tree down, but then there was the problem of the stump. So I called Steve, and he responded quickly. I called Steve yesterday and he came out within 20 minutes because he happened to be in the neighborhood. We discussed what needed to be done to the tree (not urgent), and he said he could come back tomorrow morning to do the trimming. He came out this morning bright and early! Our tree was tangled in our neighbor's wires and he was able to trim the branches without us needing to turn off the power. Job was done in about thirty minutes with a full clean up included. I was referred to Steve from JR Landscaping for tree trimming due to ants! I called and they made it happen to come and do the quote that day and then promptly scheduled an appt for a Sunday! I had two trees removed. One tree was next to a fence, the other was in-between my house and a neighbors house. The tree crew were very careful and experienced. The sidewalk and yard was cleaned up at the end of the job and the yard looked perfect. No damage to landscaping that was near the trees which were removed. Great job! I will call them in the future. I called early in the week for an estimate, Steve came out the next day and on Saturday he came and took down an extremely large blue spruce tree and trimmed branches from an intrusive birch tree. He was very efficient, considerate of neighbors, and did an excellent job of cleaning up the branches and tried very hard not to damage extraneous garden plants in the process.
