They charged an exam fee of nearly $130 for what was three minutes in the room with the vet and another 6 mins with her assistant! I thought it was a mistake. A total of 9 minutes in their care cost $127. 3. Almost $100 for a cream that can be bought at almost any online pet center and costs $35! 4. The place is in serious need of a makeover and is in very poor condition. If you are operating a business that feels like you are at the Four Seasons and has exceptional service, then perhaps you can try and justify the egregious fees. This clinic is a disaster in virtually every way. Even a gentleman who was in the lobby with his deceased pet was brushed off as an inconvenience. Unimaginable that one could stand at the front desk with three employees behind it and for nearly ten minutes, and not a single person raises their head to even say hello, all while they argue about their own incompetence. During the surgery, the veterinarian accidentally caused direct pulp exposure/damage to the adjacent, completely healthy tooth. As a result, that second tooth also had to be extracted. ​This avoidable mistake resulted in extended time under general anesthesia, significant additional surgical trauma, and increased pain and recovery complexity for our dog--not to mention the permanent loss of a healthy major tooth. ​Despite acknowledging that the damage to the healthy tooth was caused during the procedure, the clinic refused our request for a refund or financial adjustment on the dental charges, offering only to waive the fee for pulling the tooth they damaged. They claimed the damage was merely an "inherent complication" rather than a mistake and refused to take accountability for the extra harm and distress inflicted on our pet. ​Because management has refused to handle this fairly, we are now formally filing a complaint with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO) for a standard-of-care review and exploring Small Claims Court to recover the costs. ​Extremely disappointed in their lack of empathy, accountability, and customer care. It was so easy to arrange an appointment with them and they were ready to see my bunny right on time. The room we were in was decorated with small animal equipment and education pieces, which gave me more confidence that they prioritized their small animals just as much as dogs and cats We had Dr Tamara who was amazing with my bunny. My senior bunny was a bit shy and she was so patient and gentle with him. She chatted with me while she let my bunny warm up to the surroundings and gently coaxed him out to let her check his teeth and mouth. She weighed him and took a look at his ears too. She also took the time to listen to my concerns and recent observations, and addressed each item one by one. I felt so comforted that she didn't rush through the conversation at all, and took each observation seriously. We got him a blood test and I was prescribed some ointment for his dry ears. They also trimmed his nails, which is something they do with the check ups. She was very upfront about the costs of everything so I could decide if I can afford to move ahead. I appreciate that because many times, you can be blindsighted by a clinic. It does cost a lot to care for our pets. With it being a few days to Christmas, I didn't expect them to get the blood work results back until the new year. But on Christmas Eve, I got a call from Dr. Sugi who had reviewed the bloodwork results and even took the time to compare it with his past health history (which they obtained from my previous vet). She went over everything with me very patiently and gave me comparisons to help me understand where we were at. She was incredible and I love that she took the time to understand his usual diet more so she can provide any insight/ tips on nutrition that can support his conditions. Over all, I felt like they were incredibly attentive to my senior bunny. They went through every detail and made us feel so comfortable. I never felt rushed and I felt very very welcomed to contact them if I had any follow up questions. We took our dog to another vet and didn't tell them where we were going. everything resolved including surgery, 2 night stay and a month of food, for less than 4K. we spent 6k at AEC and all they did was tests. I took my cat to Animal Emergency Clinic of Durham last weekend after noticing he seemed unwell. We waited for 3-4 hours to be seen (even though the waiting area was empty), which was frustrating, but we understood that it was an emergency clinic. When we were finally seen, we were quoted $4900 for two nights of treatment (enemas, stomach pumping with laxatives, and IV fluids) or $3600 for one night with the same treatment. We were told that our cat had a condition called mega colon, and that this treatment would help get things moving. We opted for the one-night stay. The vet did call us during the stay and said that they had taken an xray and things looked like they were improving. When we picked him up, he was in significantly worse condition than when we dropped him off. His rear end was covered in feces and had mucous hanging from his mouth and all down his chest. I believe the clinic should have made some attempt to help clean him up as we had a scheduled pick up time. There was no vet available at pick-up to tell us how our cat was doing. Considering the amount of money we had paid, you would think the vet could take a moment to let us know how the cat was doing. To make matters worse, they sent us home with two medications but no pain medication, even though it was clear that our cat was in extreme pain. They told us to take him to our regular vet for further care the following day At our regular vet, we were given two options: surgery (which was not guaranteed to resolve the problem permanently and it would likely return quickly again) or to put him down. We were told the impacted feces were too large to pass through the pelvis. We had two xrays at the emergency clinic and were never told this. We decided to put him down, as it was clear he was suffering. Our cat was only 11 years old, and it was a heartbreaking decision to make. What really frustrates us about this experience is that the emergency vet did not clearly communicate how critical his condition was. We were made to believe that the one night treatment would help him and that we were giving him a chance. The lack of transparency and care is something we will never forget. I want others to be aware of our experience and consider the level of communication and care they expect when trusting their pets to an emergency clinic. I wish this situation had been handled differently, and I am devastated by the loss of our cat.

They don't provide tours of facilities so you have no idea where/what you are sending your pets into! No photos or videos put up anywhere about the facilities/amenities inside. No time taken for any sort of assessment to understand the temperament of our dog. The lady asked us if our dog will jump the fence, (I wish I knew, the dog cnt speak to tell me!) I said she has never tried and she said, I quote, "if she as much even looks at the fence, she will not be allowed in the yard again", so they plan to cage her all day if she does try to look at her surroundings! They just want full trained dogs to be left free in groups of 10 to play so easy job for them! All dogs are not same and most of them take time to adjust. They were too quick to judge in meeting my dog for the first time saying that she was nervous (obviously it was her first time there with new ppl and so many dogs!). Thankful this all happened on the trial class, never going back again!

Whether you leave your pet there for one day at daycare or for boarding, they will be returned to you reeking of urine, and gritty with dirt. Dirt I can deal with. Urine, no way. You will not want to touch your dog after a stay here. I know some dogs like to roll around in all sorts of things, but I had more than one dog here (one of which did not like to roll around) and they both reeked upon pickup. I also knew 3 other pet owners who had similar experiences. I chalked it up originally to standard "kennel smell" but have since taken my dogs to several other "free play" kennels and non-free play kennels-- they've never smelled the way they did at Ajax. The worst thing though-- my dog was seriously injured while in the care of the Ajax Pet Centre. I was told my dog was in a fight with another dog, and had started the fight. However, both the vet and the surgeon who cared for my dog advised that the wounds inflicted indicate my dog was in a defensive position (bitten on the inside of the rear leg). The other clue that my dog was not the aggressor was that there was no bleeding or inflammation around his mouth or gums, indicating that my dog had not bitten anything. These two observations were made independently by both the vet and the surgeon. Unlike other petcare centres, Ajax does not provide "doggy-cams" for you to observe your dogs, or to witness the care they receive. I'd think twice before taking your four-legged friends here.
