So happy we were able to find a new vet for my senior bunny. It's clear that they have a lot of experience with exotic animals here, unlike many clinics that claim they see exotics, but don't actually have any true experience with them. It was so easy to arrange an appointment with them and they were ready to see my bunny right on time. The room we were in was decorated with small animal equipment and education pieces, which gave me more confidence that they prioritized their small animals just as much as dogs and cats We had Dr Tamara who was amazing with my bunny. My senior bunny was a bit shy and she was so patient and gentle with him. She chatted with me while she let my bunny warm up to the surroundings and gently coaxed him out to let her check his teeth and mouth. She weighed him and took a look at his ears too. She also took the time to listen to my concerns and recent observations, and addressed each item one by one. I felt so comforted that she didn't rush through the conversation at all, and took each observation seriously. We got him a blood test and I was prescribed some ointment for his dry ears. They also trimmed his nails, which is something they do with the check ups. She was very upfront about the costs of everything so I could decide if I can afford to move ahead. I appreciate that because many times, you can be blindsighted by a clinic. It does cost a lot to care for our pets. With it being a few days to Christmas, I didn't expect them to get the blood work results back until the new year. But on Christmas Eve, I got a call from Dr. Sugi who had reviewed the bloodwork results and even took the time to compare it with his past health history (which they obtained from my previous vet). She went over everything with me very patiently and gave me comparisons to help me understand where we were at. She was incredible and I love that she took the time to understand his usual diet more so she can provide any insight/ tips on nutrition that can support his conditions. Over all, I felt like they were incredibly attentive to my senior bunny. They went through every detail and made us feel so comfortable. I never felt rushed and I felt very very welcomed to contact them if I had any follow up questions. I appreciate their high high standard of care and I'm so glad I've found another fantastic vet for bunnies. Highly recommend! read more

I love this place and they have looked after lots of my animals. My bird is very comfortable going and they are very gentle with him. I also take my Guinea pig and had his nails and teeth done. We have an older blue tongue skink who started having a few issues pile up, in his older age one small thing lead to another, the vet was very reassuring and insightful. I've seen a lot of bad reviews saying they're just in for the money, they offered to do blood work but said it wasn't necessary since we're coming back anyway. We had an exam done and some medication we took home, whole thing was just over $200. We had a great experience and would definitely recommend other exotic animal owners to visit. read more

I have charged $150 to diagnose my dogs eye infection. The vet said it was cataracts and the only way to address it was to see an animal eye surgeon. The cost for the consultantation alone was $350. I booked it, took my dog, he came out 2 minutes later and the surgeon said "this dog does not have cataracts I dont know why anyone told you that, he has a slight eye infection and here are some drops to clear it up, plus with his old age his eye sight will decrease that is standard in this breed." To my surprise the drops he prescribed are the same to drops Millenium had prescribed during another visit. Not only was I charged for the drops I was charged the $350 consultantation fee. When there was no need to see the eye surgeon because Millennium improperly diagnosed my dog. Overall, since the change in management the standard of care and staff have declined. They used to be so kind and helpful, now they don't even greet you when you come in they just ask your dogs name when they do acknowledge you. Besides Sheryl the new team members font seem to care at all about client experience. And the vet assistants are so inexperienced everytime my dog gets a shot they cant find a vein and hurt him to where he is bleeding for days. I will no longer visit this clinic. read more

My rabbit died as a result of doctor's misdiagnosis. The doctor even put my rabbit through anesthesia to confirm that her teeth were fine. We were sent home with the affirmation that my rabbit was healthy other than a minor eye infection which could be treated with an eye drop. It turns out that the problem lied elsewhere and had nothing to do with an eye infection. I ended up going into an emergency animal hospital where the vet discovered a dental spur - only one day after the examination at Millenium City where I was told there is nothing wrong with my rabbit's teeth. The manager called and stated that there will be no compensation regarding the fact that the doctor failed to detect the source of ailment which led the rabbit to die. Be ware and take caution when choosing to visit this clinic. It is at your own risk and you are periling your pet's well-being. read more

Years and years ago Millennium City took care of my pet hedgehog when he got cancer. They were extremely kind, and offered a number of alternatives including chemotherapy. However, they were honest and explained that it was common in male hedgehogs his age, and did not recommend treatment. They put him down, and again it was done with a lot of sensitivity - no judgement on our family for choosing not to put him through chemo. A few years later when my 18-yr old cat was finally suffering from old age they similarly provided full options for treatment to sustain her life, but did not pressure us at all. They were wonderfully sympathetic. Over the years they also treated our budgies, dogs, and other cats. In all cases they were reasonably priced, practical, and non-judgemental. More recently I decided to go back to Millennium City after some bad experiences with Toronto vets. My adult cat was suffering from coughing fits - something that could possibly have been a respiratory infection or cat asthma. The vet was great with him (he loved going to the vet until he was really treated terribly by one and now is pretty temperamental about it - she was unfazed and very pleasant towards him). I was going through a rough patch with work and did not have a ton of cash available, but was extremely worried for my cat. The vet laid out different scenarios, including lung X-rays for a few hundred dollars. She was honest about the potential for nothing to show on the xrays (even if it was an infection), and basically recommended the cheaper (and less traumatic) option of doing a round of antibiotics which would do no harm even if he didn't have an infection, and which would cost substantially less than xrays. Then, if they did nothing, we could still go ahead and run tests. The antibiotics worked to clear things up, and they followed up with my last vet and caught a shot that they had missed and called to let me know that it was potentially the reason for the infection. So basically, they didn't pressure me at ALL to do the more expensive thing (though it wouldn't have taken much as I was so stressed out), made me feel very much like I was the decision maker while giving me advice, were reasonably priced, treated my cat well, and followed up with additional information (and again, no pressure - "You can bring him in to get that shot, or if you want to take him somewhere closer to home just have them call us for the info"). I will be driving from Etobicoke out to Millennium City for my cat's annual shots and any other treatments required; as far as I am concerned they have been providing excellent service to my family's pets at a fair price for well over a decade. read more

Thank you all at MCVH for keeping my 20 year old Syrup happy and healthy. A couple months ago I thought I would have to say goodbye due to her chronic kidney disease however the amazing vets there accurately diagnosed her and the staff nursed her back to health. Now she is her old self chasing my 1 year old cat around. As a fellow veterinarian, albeit one with workplace restrictions on providing veterinary services for personal animals, I have entrusted the care of my special needs pets to MCVH and they have never failed to exceed expectations. read more

Inexperienced and unknowledgeable staff. I was given misinformation and wasn't given important information about antibiotic side effects. My beautiful cat was brought in because he started drinking a lot of water. After a physical I was told everything looked normal and good-no fever, bright and responsive eyes. Level 3 blood work showed slightly decreased kidney function, possible bacterial infection and possible hypothyroidism. I was never given an exact problem but an antibiotic was suggested for the possible bacterial infection. CONVENIA was administered. I was not told what the drug was or of the side effects. The name of the drug was on my bill. Google the drug - you will be mortified. Upon return home my cat had dilated pupils and then was stoned for 5 days. He experienced all of the side effects of this drug. I brought him back to the vet. Dr. Tamara said she had never had a problem with this drug. She could not handle him enough to give him a full physical. The drug had made him almost feral. He returned home traumatized and died at home a few weeks later. Please, don't bring your pets to this hospital. read more

Don't go to this vet, Dr Janet Sawyer, My lovebird died under her care, I always used to take him for check ups and she always stressed him out, The last time I took him there, he was not feeling very well, she gave him, blood work, ex/ray, nail trim, It was too stressful for him, She then proceeded to put in in a stainless pot to weigh him. He had a heart attack under her care. It was since 2009 , My beautiful lovebird, he was only 3 years old, and I still feel the pain to even write about him. She is incompetent and cannot handle a sick bird. Every time I took him in she always want to experiment on him with different treatments. Before that I had a budgie that went their for regular check ups. She told me that he had cancer, I took him several times for her to gave him something for pain, she said birds do not feel pain, I kept going with the hopes that he will get better, she never told me that my budgie would likely die and never recommended anesthesia. I was new to birds and did not understand that he was dying a slow painful death, He had breathing problems for over 6 weeks before he passed away. She wanted me to keep bringing him in instead of advising me to put him down. It is all about the money...Up to this day, I live with that guilt, Two birds died under her care. Worst Avian Vet.... I agree with Amanda C., Millennium did the same thing with our cat. The heart murmur was diagnosed in order to try and convince us to pay for x-rays or ultasounds and blood work. Too many times we have been sucked in by these parasites and that is why we went to a specialized feline hospital/vet. Guess what??? no murmur. She is just fine. The cost was less than Millennium and be aware that they will always try to convince you to get an x-ray or an ultrasound, always. They charge too much and by the way...should any one of you feel the need to stay with their beloved animal because there is no other alternative-Euthanasia, it will cost you big bucks at Millennium. I have been taking my dog and cat to Millennium for about 7 years. They are a kind, caring, knowledgable group of professionals - and I have only ever had positive experiences with them. We actually switched to this clinic after having a bad experience with our previous vet, and found the care from MCVH to be a million times better, and the staff are just so caring and trustworthy which I have always really appreciated. I found their treatment of complex medical issues to be just as good if not better than the care we received from specialists, and Dr. Sawyer was able to diagnose and perform a surgery on our Mastiff that cured her constant UTI's - which gave us many wonderful years with her. In my experience with many veterinarians, MCVH is the best. read more

I've been taking my pets to Millennium City for about 8 years now (Or maybe 9 years? I lost count, lol), and I don't recall ever having a bad experience with the service and the staff there. First off, I would like to compliment them for the cleanliness of the place. I'd have to say, it's certainly way cleaner than your average clinic for people, lol. It's such a welcoming environment. My pets have had the opportunity to meet all the doctors, and my babies loved them all. My 3-year old cat Bruno was recently seen by Dr. Larkin. He was constipated for days and started vomiting excessively. Dr. Larkin recommended bloodwork, hospitalization and I.V fluids as he was very dehydrated, had not eaten for days, and was very lethargic. She had also recommended x-rays as my little boy seemed to have pain in the abdomen, and that, given the symptoms, it was possible that he had ingested something that he shouldn't have. I trusted Dr. Larkin's recommendations and appreciated her honesty that the x-rays may also not reveal anything. But the x-rays did reveal a foreign object stuck somewhere in his intestines, and soon after surgery was done to remove it, the foreign object turned out to be my daughter's eraser!!! Bruno is now back to his normal self 100% and I'm very thankful for all the help that the doctors and the rest of the staff had given me. They were so understanding, and I'm even more thankful that they allowed me to visit Bruno whenever I needed to throughout the days that he was hospitalized. They're so accommodating at Millennium City, they even sent me a picture of my baby after recovering from surgery. Who else does that?!! It was such a relief receiving a call from the surgeon that the surgery went well, and seeing the pictures of Bruno after the operation was a confirmation that my cat was definitely in good hands. I wouldn't trust anyone else to look after my pets, and I definitely would highly recommend this place to anyone who truly cares about their pets' well-being. Don't go to this vet if you are looking for someone who cares about animals. The vet here misdiagnosed my dogs back problems leaving him paralyzed less than 24 hrs later. Instead of offering any care when I returned she tried to blame me saying it was my fault for having that breed of dog... This is my account of the events between August 10, 2013 and September 18, 2013. In all honesty, my first visit to Millenium CIty wasn't terrible. I had just bought a new kitten and I wanted someone to check her out within the first 48 hours to make sure she was healthy. They were very accommodating and got me in the same day. The office was clean and they had great technology (laptops in the rooms). It was a positive visit and I was happy to bring my cat back to such a facility. They even sent us home with a care package with some great toys in it. This visit was approx $120. The second visit to this Vet was to get my kittens 1st set of shots at 8 weeks. There was a different Vet who saw her, who decided she needed to be dewormed a 2nd time (she was dewormed at the 1st visit via a liquid on the back of her neck- apparently it also would get rid of fleas, etc... the 2nd vet gave me pills that specifically would target worms- which confuses me still). I didn't mind the 2nd round of deworming, so I OK'd it. The vet and vet tech appeared to have problems holding her still for the vaccination, which resulted in poking her 3 times before she was able to actually give her the vaccine. They even dropped the needle on the floor and had to change the tip after the 2nd poke. During the 2nd visit, the vet checked my cat over thoroughly. She told me Bengals are prone to a cat version of colitis (basically a sensitive bowel- hard to find food that doesn't give them diarrhea), and told me I really should consider having her stool DNA checked (because of diarrhea)- to see if she had a certain parasite that isn't screened in the typical stool tests. She also told me that my kitten definitely had a heart murmur (which wasn't presenting in the first visit), which they would monitor as she grows because it may need to be checked with an ultrasound. This visit was approx $160. 5 days after her vaccine, my kitten became VERY sick- shaking, limping and sleeping a lot, which isn't typical of a Bengal. I took her in for an emergency visit to Millenium, again they were very accommodating- got me in later the same day. While at work, I googled the symptoms,. Let me preface by saying I'm not a doctor or a vet, but from my research, I figured that this was most likely a reaction to the vaccine. She was probably feeling the effects of the FCV portion- essentially feline flu (based on pets.webmd.com and some medical journals/studies published online). I voiced this concern to the Vet, who told me that because there was a temperature (40.5 C which is high for a kitten) and localized pain in a joint- there was no way this was a flu as a result of the vaccine. She sincerely recommended blood tests to check for Feline Leukaemia and Feline AIDS (which would have been caught from the cats mother). After a lot of conversation and my insisting it was just a flu virus from the vaccine, I finally gave in and did the blood tests. They also gave her an anti-inflammatory shot to make her more comfortable. This visit cost approx $360. The results would be ready the next day. In the meanwhile I was a MESS, crying, panicking and worrying that my cat was seriously sick. When I went in for the results, I found out it was neither of those diagnosis (both came back negative). The Vet told me she had been researching and wasn't completely sure why my kitten got sick, but thought it was most likely caused by the vaccine, FCV/feline flu. She recommended fluids, which cost me another $40 approx. I think the part that frustrated me the most out of this entire ordeal was that I had been so insistent that this was just the flu- and wanted them to make her more comfortable. The vet had convinced me otherwise- which resulted in costly medical tests. I've already started seeing my family Vet in Ajax, who I should have been seeing all along. I got her the 2nd round of shots. They spent over an hour playing with her and introducing her to the staff (the vet there actually owns 3 Bengals) and it only cost me $100 for the entire visit and the shots. A blood test at this vet would have only cost me $59.99. My comments have been stated as accurately as possible and without prejudice. I had a rabbit for five years that struggles with digestive issues. When i came here for her in the past, the female vet was exceptional, kind, understanding. I came this month with the same issue. Gi stasis. I knew the signs, but am aware they need to examine my rabbit anyways. This time with a male vet i had only seen once before (sundays).. wasnt too fond, he wanted an xray on my rat for a URI. He was insistent of an xray (again), which i knew would be very costly. At first i declined, but when i did he said he could not proceed without it. He took my rabbit away, "did an xray" (which I never saw) and brought her back saying her temperature was low. He then took her again, came back in the room without her and gave me the option to take her home or have her stay. Since he was so casual about it, i obviously took my rabbit. A hefty $400 bill later with medication and a force feeding suppliment i left. Not even half way home did my rabbit start acting weird. We turned the car around and by the time i walked in the door my rabbit had died in my hands. I question myself every day since my precious friend had died why this vet did not stress my rabbits condition? Or why he even thought of the idea of me bringing her home if she was so critical? Would she still be around? I will never know. Needless to say i will never be working with this vet again. Poor people skills, poor judgment. The technicians were great, considerate. read more
