Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 4/5 I've been here several times before. This time I came on my own to have lunch before a haircut appointment. The restaurant had just opened when I walked in so I think I may have been the first customer. I picked a table & a young lady came over to give me the menu. I ordered two rolls. A dynamite roll & red dragon roll. Let me tell you these rolls are huge! I couldn't finish it because it was so big. The taste was great. Service was also very good. The atmosphere here is laid back & friendly. That's exactly the kind of vibe I like. While I was there some people came in to order take out. I hope this place is busy enough to stay in business because I really like this place. I think this the owners or people who work here are good people. They have always been so nice to me. First time ordering party platter here for my daughter's birthday. Got the P3 platter. Went in to grab my order and was greeted by the friendly host/cashier. I did ask for no herring or butter fish, and they didn't give me any which is super nice of them. I also asked for more soy sauce and wasabi and they did not hesitate to give me more either! They even gave me miso soup and sashimi salad on the house; how sweet of them! Will definitely be back if I'm ever in the area. read more

Got to try their lunch specials which are daily 11:30am-3pm. We got the Akane lunch course with sushi, sashimi, shrimp tempura and udon for $20, upgraded the sashimi to all salmon for an extra $3. We also got the pork katsu which comes with shrimp and veggies tempura with miso, salad, and rice for $20. The tempura was my favourite, freshly fried with a great batter. Katsu was a bit dry but still tasty with the salad and sauce. The sashimi and sushi were standard quality, especially good when considering the reasonable price. The interior is simple, service was very attentive and friendly. I don't like cooked shrimp sushi as much and they kindly switched it out. Comes with complimentary tea and noodle soup. I think this is a great spot and you get a lot of variety for a fair price. read more

I've liked Akane Sushi since it had a location along Highway 7. Always fresh, with lots of cold and hot dish options. We tend to visit during less busy hours, so not sure what it's like when it's busy, but we've enjoyed the company of the ever-attentive and friendly staff. This location is spacious and well-lit. The sushi boats here are an artful combination of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. The freshness justifies the slightly steeper prices. After all, with raw fish, there's always different price points in pursuit of quality. read more

Came by for lunch as we didn't want food court stuff. Service was good as well as it seems to be family fun and operated. A little boy came by to say hi multiple times. It's a standard sushi place atmosphere so don't expect anything crazy but decent enough. We were comfortably seated in a booth style section. Akane recently opened. We came here after 10pm for dinner, it served us a special izakaya menu for late night. We chose from menu of skewers, sashimi, udon, bar apps and drinks. There are lots of parking in this plaza being nearby Centerpoint Mall. The music was pumping. It was decently busy with people in all of their booth seating. We had some pork skewers, kalbi, veggie udon, and karaage. While it was good, the veggie udon at $15 isn't remarkable, so I probably would skip that next time. I enjoyed the skewers and karaage the most here. The karaage reminded me of a shrimp-cracker kind of coating. The service is attentive, but they misheard our order and gave us two udon instead of the one we ordered (loud music), but we didn't bother correcting it since they brought it out. They also missed our leek skewer. It was fine since we were already full with the extra udon (we couldn't finish). My new favourite sushi spot currently belongs to Akane Sushi and here's why. Sushi & Sashimi Love Boat - 5/5 I got the Love Boat B which included 24 sashimi, 18 sushi, and 20 rolls. This is good to serve 3 - 4 people and is my recommended meal to order. The sashimi are pretty fresh and they give you a nice mix of sashimi from the standard salmon, tuna, snapper to more unique ones like bluefin tuna (toro), yellow tail (hamachi), and herring roe (kazunoko). The rolls also didn't disappoint as the rice is cooked to my liking and the sauce they put on the rolls were just the right amount. I ordered this 3 times now and each time met my standard. For $89, this is worth it. FYI: Their bento combo I would give it a 3.5/5. The bulgogi was quite salty which made it harder to enjoy. Service - 5/5 The people that work there are super nice and very welcoming. They do their best to make sure that you are satisfied with your meal. ALSO, if you go on the right day, they may give out salmon head on the house. I was lucky enough to get one and it was so delicious. The people that work there is what help create a more enjoyable atmosphere to have a meal. Atmosphere - 4/5 The one callout is that the place is quite small so there are limited seating. So make sure you call in advance to reserve, otherwise you may need to wait 30+ minutes. This is located on Yonge just south of Steeles. If you're craving for sushi and in the area, definitely check this out. Also bring some cash with you as there's a 10% discount on your bill. read more

If you are looking for the Canadian style of sushi, this might be a good place that delivery quality of that and in a good quantity. So, I am talking about fish mainly with salmon as the base. The restaurant waiting services was efficient and good. They even gave us complimentary appetizers, the salmon head grilled and a small dish of noodle. However, the food we ordered, a sushi boat with lot of sushi to share, took a while of a wait. The quality of the sushi is okay, other than that most of it were salmon and sushi rolls. One disappointment was the toro included, fatty tuna, was still frozen. In summary, if you are looking for some sushi to fill your stomach, and to eat very often without hurting your wallet, this can be a good day to day lunch place. read more

Never posted a review before but this place deserves it. The staff are extremely welcoming, and our waiter was absolutely wonderful (wish I could remember what his name was!). We got some noodles on the house while we waited, which was very kind of them. Our food and every other thing we asked for was served promptly. The food itself is reasonably priced and worth their value. I got the veggie poke bowl, and at first I wasn't sure if I'd still be hungry after but I definitely wasn't, it was a great meal. My friends also said the same and were very satisfied with their meals (One got a bento box and the other sushi and spring rolls)! First time visiting Akane since they moved from the original hwy 7 location. Very impressed with the service, food quality and atmosphere. Prices have gone up significantly, but where hasn't the price gone up since the pandemic. read more

We have visited Akane Sushi twice in the last two month only because of the excellent food and the service. The atmosphere and the staff are very friendly, and the food which is reasonably priced is of high quality. One restaurant in North York that I would highly recommend. read more
