We shared the cowboy roll. Cowboy roll is one of my fave rolls at this restaurant. It was delicious as usual & the red dragon was great as well. I tried a piece of hubby's fish katsu & it was also wonderful. The batter was light & it didn't seem oily at all (one of my pet peeves for deep fried food). I even tried a piece of the chicken karage but I didn't enjoy it. Hubby said it was really good though. Service: We had the same waitress we've had to many times before. I can't remember her name. But she's always really nice & gets our orders in quickly. So the food comes with a good pace as well. The quality is always great in my opinion. Ambiance: The place needs a little of a spruce up on the lower level. The ladies washroom is looking a little worn out. Everything is clean though. We came here for a weekday dinner and enjoyed high quality and fresh sashimi and maki roll, great vibes and friendly service. We ordered "Small Sashimi Combo" which included 30 pieces of salmon, white tuna, red tuna, shrimp, octopus and red snapper. We also ordered "Hungry Roll", "Shrimp Tempura" and "Sake Kunsai". Sashimi were so fresh, tender and delicious. Hungry Roll alone is very delicious and enough for one person to fill full. One of the best sushi I had in a long time! The sashimi was fresh and had a think cut. The rolls were just the right size where it's not too small or too big for my mouth, lol. I got the small sushi, maki, and sashimi combo (45 pieces for $72.95) and Moto Legend Roll ($22.95) shared between 3 people. I was surprised to see they offered ikura in the small combo! I feel like we could've ordered more cause I wasn't full but then I ordered dessert and I was fine. They have a small dessert menu with ice cream and deep fried banana tempura and they had a separate dessert menu that starts at 7pm each night ran by someone else serving drinks and shaved ice. We each got something different - deep fried banana ($12), matcha w/ red bean shaved ice (cup-$9) and mango slush ($8). I particularly loved the shrimp tempura -- crisp, warm, & light, and the salmon sashimi was thick & fresh. The salad and California roll wasn't particularly outstanding, but it wasn't bad. I would go for the nigiri, tempura, or sashimi instead. We went after the lunch rush so it was nice & quiet, but I was told that it does get busy at night and on the weekend. Came here on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy and the restaurant itself is quite big. The seating mostly consists of booths which is nice, but it gives the place more of a bar & grill type feel. Not very loud which makes it quite easy to carry on a conversation amongst the table. The service was pretty average. As for the sushi itself, I didn't order anything special, just dynamite and salmon rolls. It came with a complimentary miso soup that contained noodles. The sushi is definitely good quality. My only complaint, which is why I didn't give 4 stars, is that it is overpriced for what you get as compared to other Toronto sushi joints. You can definitely easily get the same quality elsewhere for cheaper. read more

Sushi koto died when it was sold to the new chinese owner around late 2024. None of the food items are the way I remembered they used to be. They taste absolutely different ( not in a good way) as well as the food quality dropped dramatically. read more

I agree with the others that this place is overpriced for what you get. I wanted to try the avocado tempura, because you don't typically see this item. It was just ok - no fault to them because it's well made I just don't think avocado tempura is a good dish haha. Needs more batter or something to really contrast the richness and creaminess of the avocado. We got the chirashi dinner which was rated as a favourite item on the menu. It was decent. Most of the fish tasted pretty good but I don't think I'd get it again. It came with miso soup and salad which were good! The maki rolls we ordered were the star of the meal. Probably the best yam tempura maki I've had! The tataki attack had scallop inside and torched escolar on top and it was also tasty! I like that they give you sriracha and sriracha mayo as a side on the plate so you can dip as you please. I came for the sushi boats. I am visiting Toronto for work and one of my coworkers mentioned a sushi boat. As soon as it was mentioned I couldn't be convinced that I wanted anything else for lunch. I enjoyed my stop-in, and to be honest, since it was a business lunch (and I'm American), I have no idea how the prices compare. We ordered the large Sashimi Sushi Maki combo for five people, and it was more than enough food. We got a free bowl of edamame and they offered us free ice cream too. The service was quick as well, so no complaints from me. I really enjoyed all of the sushi. I honestly have no idea what types of fish were all on the boat beyond the standards that I recognize, but everything was really flavorful and delicious. Great sushi spot! Service is on point here, they're very attentive. The sushi itself is pretty tasty! All the fish pieces are smooth and fresh. Their miso soup includes some noodles, which you don't see very often. I'm also pleasantly surprised that their ice cream isn't a single tiny scoop, but a rather sizable about. The matcha quality in the ice cream is probably a little better than what you'd find at an AYCE sushi place, but definitely not as good as Tsujiri or dedicated matcha cafes. Sushi Moto is a great spot for work lunches or dinner either with your team or with clients. It is clean, professional and you can't go wrong with Japanese food. I came here for lunch with a vendor. Salmon teriyaki bento boxes is typically my go-to but I was deeply disappointed with my salmon here - it was overcooked and dry, as if they made it in advance and kept it warm for a long time until my order came in. The shrimp tempura though was tasty and it came with 3 compared to the usual 1 when you go to other locations. The California roll was a good ratio of rice, so I think the next time I'm here, I'll order the sushi instead. read more

I've been here a couple times, but it's expensive enough it's more of a special-occasion-only kind of place for me. In terms of food, this is among the highest quality sushi I've found in Toronto, and their sake is delicious. Up until last year, I spent my whole life on the west coast, so when I say it's among the best in Toronto, I mean that it's the most similar to the kind of good sushi you get out there. Classy sushi spot perfect for a night out when you're looking for a more laid-back and chill atmosphere! The private and spacious seats, low music punctuated occasionally by warm greetings from the staff, combined with superb service and food makes this one of my favourite Japanese restaurants to visit with friends. :) From the moment of walking in, all of the waitresses were friendly and attentive, and the place was clearly not in need of extra staff. Requests were always answered promptly, whether it be for dishes to be cleared, more drinks, or the bill. The food (which I will get to shortly) was so good and I felt so comfortable that we spent about 2 to 3 hours sitting there, and not once were we reminded of the time. In fact even as they were bringing the card machine they asked if we needed more tea. Heh. The food itself was of course excellent as well. Perhaps on the more expensive side compared to other restaurants in the area, but I really can't complain about the quality OR quantity. I feel like the pictures don't quite do the portions justice, but the bowl of hae-dup-bap (before adding rice) was literally the size of my head. At first I was under the impression that it was mostly salad (i.e., lettuce), but then I kept digging up more sashimi underneath...with respect to freshness and taste - I savoured every bite. Don't order from here if you have an allergy. The restaurant was told not to send food with a particular allergen and the food came with the allergen. The restaurant was totally unconcerned and told us to resolve it with Uber. It was clearly listed on the special notes and it was good that we were able to see the allergen before it was consumed or there would have been a 911 call followed by a call to a lawyer. read more

I've been here a few times and always have a good experience. The sushi is always fresh and the service is really good. On my most recent visit, we ordered two garden salads, sashimi, soups, and two salmon/avocado rolls, since I'm both gluten and lactose intolerant. Everything we ordered tasted delicious and it was a really nice surprise when they brought out a bottle of gluten free soya sauce. This little detail made my dining experience much better. The one thing I found odd was, they didn't offer us any green tea but allover it was a really good experience. While there, we ordered two alcoholic drinks and they were both delicious. I ordered the Blue Mountain drink, which is made out of rice wine, various fruit juices and blue curacao. My friend ordered a rum and coke and he really enjoyed it. Decor/Ambience: 4/5 Spacious, many booths for more privacy and still has a relatively open concept for smooth mingling and conversation. It is usually never too hard to be seated almost right away, no matter how busy it is. Food quality: 4.5/5 This place is a bit pricey, but the freshness, taste, presentation and quality of the food: sashimi chirashi, Sushi, tempura, teriyaki, and salads were all done very well. My friends and I usually always go for their chirashi set or teriyaki bento sets here! I enjoyed every bite I ate and I ate to the very less crumb in every bowl and the bento box. Nothing was too salty, sugary or oily. There were plenty of greens and veggies in the set. Everything was flavoured well and it was a well balanced meal. The chirashi set had 16 pieces of sashimi and tomako, with long slices of avocado. It is the less carby of the three meals, but there is still some rice at the bottom. Their sashimi was light and the cut was not too thick nor thin. You know the fish is fresh when they do not need to deep fry it or add any seasoning and it still tastes great!! Service: 3.5/5 Service could have been better. Waiters have to be called to get their attention. They could have checked in on us more, too, and refilled our water without being asked. Value: 4/5 At least, the portions here are sizeable. They gave me a big piece of fish filet, 6 makis, 6-8 tempura pieces including mushrooms, sweet potatoes, shrimps and broccolis. I like how in addition to their miso soup and salad as starters, they also have a small noodle soup bowl. Still, the chirashi set was $26.95 and the bento sets were $29.95. Overall: 4/5 Solid and consistent food quality. Service here is not as consistent though. Friendly enough but nothing outstanding. Sushi Moto is one of my goto sushi places when in uptown Toronto. Some people say it's a bit pricey for the quality and that might be a bit true as sashimi prices are slightly higher on average. Likely to cover expensive rent for this neighbourhood and the nice upscale casual ambience However Sushi Moto really excels for three main reasons: 1. No other sushi place is open as late as them... 11pm last order on weeknights and 1am are n weekends! 2. Sushi quality and freshness is always high because of the constant turnover of sashimi due to it always being busy 3. The ambience is unlike most other sushi restaurants... upscale casual but with a lounge/bar type feel. Music playing in background, lots of TVs playing sports, and a very large alcohol menu of liquor beer and wine. It actually caters to groups, couples, dates and singles.
