a plate of sushi and a bowl of sauce

This is a hidden gem for Japanese sushi on Bathurst. It's casual vibe and can get very busy, so during weekends, better to call ahead to reserve. The service is fast and friendly, not the best but above average. We ordered: Salmon and mango tower: 4/5, 1 point for the hard rice bottom, otherwise it's a 5star! Crunch sushi roll 4/5 Sashimi set 21 pieces 5/5 All dishes are good quality with beautiful presentation, would highly recommended.

    Love boat platter
    Ted D.

Their platter was ok, edible, we decided to give it a try because of the overwhelming positive reviews on google. Their "love boat" platter was not very fresh, their rolls were decent, I would eat that again. Salmon was kind of fishy, for the cost, I'm surprised they had a lot of butter fish as displayed in the picture. Their surf clam, usually our favourite was a little shrivelled up. I wouldn't go back personally as I have had a lot better quality at a lot of other places. I wouldn't recommend either at this point. Gave it 2 stars because the rolls were decent.

    Salmon and butterfish sashimi

The foods and services of this place are amazing. It's a cozy place, very kids friendly and great for dates because they have private small rooms. The owner of this restaurant is very kind and generous. The first time my bf and I went there, they gave us free hand rolls which were delicious. The second time was a pickup. I wanted 4 pieces each of salmon and butterfish sashimi. She told me that an order comes with 3 pieces. So I offer to pay more money for those extra pieces. When I came to pickup, she showed me that they gave 5 pieces each and didn't charge extra. I was touched by her kindness - Very nice people! It's a convenient location with plenty of spaces for parking. I'd definitely recommend this place to any sushi lovers.

Great sushi with chefs special mango sushi refresher , which will not be depicted in the picture below because it was devoured within seconds of serving . The servers are really caring

This restaurant is newly opened in the corner of Bathurst and Rutherford. The sashimi quality was decent however the cutting are not as good as each piece is a bit too thick. The chicken katsu donburi was ok. I would say it's above average. Overall, I honestly think it's still quite pricy even though the food quality is a bit above average I don't think I will come back and visit this place again unless they can lower the price by 20 percent.

Service and food quality was really good. My son and his friend also got mini sushi, they were so cute and they loved eating them. Would go again for their lunch specials.

Came here with some friends for the omakase special meal…read more Such a lovely overall standard omakase experience and meal. The highlight for me was probably the set of four starter appetizers, they were flavourful, delicately prepared and perfect way to start the meal. I liked the slightly pickled dish with cucumbers the best. We also had sushi prepared with fresh seafood. The rice was probably my favorite compared to other places I've been. It was perfectly seasoned rice, warm and cooked to have just the right texture, not overcooked and not undercooked. The rice held up well when picked up by hand and complemented the flavours of the fish. Finished the meal with a matcha flavored pudding flan type dessert which had deep matcha flavours. If you're a fan of matcha, you'd probably enjoy it too. All in all, the meal was enjoyable, the torched tuna sushi was probably my favorite sushi of the set and my least favorite was the egg/eel, I was expecting a sweet egg at the end so it unexpected.

Taki is a fine dining Japanese restaurant located in the busy commerical areas of Richmond Hill…read more We recently had lunch here for a special occasion. The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

They also had optional upgrades for uni or Japanese melon, which I think was like $35 for uni and $27 for one melon slice. We didn't end up doing that but we were super full from lunch and it was a pretty good deal for omakase. Service was amazing, super comfortable. The appetizer was interesting, the first sushi course, Engawa was my least favorite! Never had such weird texture and crunch fish before and I did not like it at all! We were the only diners in the entire place, it was quite strange the chef wasn't much of a talker and didn't really talk much about where the fish came from, just merely the name of the fish and that's all. Other than the snow crab from Norway. They did accommodate my allergy and replaced with Cho toro which was great! Pleasantly surprised was the dessert instead of boring ice cream, it was my favorite warabimochi!

Came here pretty late at night after the dinner rush for some take out since I was in the area. Got greeted immediately by staff, it wasn't too busy on a weeknight around 9PM. The staff insisted that I take a seat and have a cup of tea while waiting for my order. My order surprisingly came out pretty quickly for my take out and was only able to take two small sips of my tea. Food here was amazing - just like their other location. Got two items: Orangeville roll 5/5 - Always my favourite. I love the filling to rice ratio and I feel like it's always packed to the brim. Always fresh! Spicy salmon roll 5/5 - A classic and I love that they fill it with so much spicy salmon in the roll vs. rice. Overall, loved the rolls here and thought it was fresh, delicious and super large in size. Can't wait to come back for more.

S5 is also as good as the other location, maybe even better. The rice is even seasoned, the quality is like omakase, the take out box is wrapped with Japanese style cloth wrap, very elegant, although a kind of waste (I asked not to wrap in cloth to be more environmentally friendly). Paid in cash, got 10% discount, What a big bang for the buck as well. One third of the cost as other sushi place with better quality. It is now our go to place for sushi take out. The service is nice and efficient too. Highly recommended.
