So I consider myself a fashionista. I love fashion and I love to 'create' outfits. Akira is a place I would highly recommend to any fashionista or stylist. They have really cute clothes. I saw several items in store I would have purchased if, during my shopping trip I wasn't on a tight budget. That being said, if you are on a tight budget, this isn't the place for you. But if you have loads of cash to spare, this is a great place to go. I also like that you can look on their website prior to visiting and most of the things are also in store. That was pretty helpful. I enjoyed going here and "window shopping" and trying on clothes. Again, I highly recommend them if you have loads of cash to spare. read more

OFFENSIVE MUSIC! I have never felt so appalled in all of my years of shopping. While there trying to return a damaged item purchased as new, the music that blared from the speakers was beyond anything I have ever experienced at any shopping establishment. The N word was repeated more than 20 times in one song. As if that wasn't enough, the sales people sang along with it. N*#@+ ??? I had my 9 year old niece with me and I couldn't remove her from this place fast enough. If rap lyrics come with warnings on their labels WHY WOULD YOU PLAY THEM IN A STORE??? I will NEVER shop at any Akira again. I found similar music in the Hyde Park store, only I was alone that time. I love their styles, but I will not be subject to horrific words and music while trying to put an outfit together. Shame on Akira for not being better than this. read more

I only give it 3 stars based on the fact that they have a lot of inventory that other Akiras may not have. This was my first time visiting this store, the music was BLASTING & unreasonably loud. The staff talk more to each other in hurdles than the actual customers, the atmosphere was unprofessional, loud, and unlike any boutique I've been to. read more

Horrible customer service. I stood at the checkout register for almost 5 minutes before someone would acknowledge me. 3 people at the register, I stand there with article of clothing in hand. They look up at me and continue their conversation and other tasks. Even if I wasn't ready to check out, perhaps I needed assistance? Out of curiosity I decided to wait them out. Finally a male assoc giggles and asks if I'm ready to check out. I was 5sec away from leaving my purchase there. The other guy that checked me out sounded surprised that no one helped me during my browsing. Really?!! I could not give no stars but I would . On September 12 th I ordered online 2 pairs of pants at $350.00 each to be shipped to the store. Really cute pants . But I didn't know what size so I ordered two different sizes to compare. On October 9th I was wondering where my pants are. It ordered them a month ago. So I call and they told me that they were in but that the girl misspelled my email. So I pick them up on the 12th . Well when I went to return them I got a store credit for $700.00. WTF they wouldn't give it back to my PayPal because the window for return had closed on Oct 12th !!! Again WTF !!! You didn't even tell me they were therefor a month. So yeah it was a very unpleasant experience and the girl on the other end of the phone seemed to enjoy telling me that the window was closed and that it was my fault because I didn't put my phone number in when I ordered so that if the email was wrong they could have called. They were mean about it to boot. Finally they returned all but 15% . The 15% was my punishment for being two days late. I will never shop there again and as a hairdresser at the mall the akira is in I will tell everybody who will listen to never shop there and how horrible they treat their customers. Not the store people but at headquarters. They do not even care a little that they are hurting people. read more

I shopped at Akira in Chicago Ridge Mall for the first time last Tuesday March 29th after I'd received a Coupon. Great Experience! Working in the mall I had seen the store several times before and it looked so nice from the outside but I never made time to go in like I wanted (busy working). So I went in to pick out an outfit for my birthday and I was so overwhelmed and I couldn't find the right fit. Just as I was thinking "maybe this store isn't for me" as I was headed to the door the General Manager Lala stopped me to ask if I needed help and what I was shopping for. I told her and immediately she said let me get you a few choices that compliment you, you have a model shape! The associate Mercedes assisted as well! They found a few pieces that were very nice, one of which I thought didn't work for me (inside skirt piece too short) but Lala creativily recreated this outfit for me and it was gorgeous! I was so appreciative that she didn't let me leave heart broken and overwhelmed! I could tell there was something special about Lala. She was determined to help me and she did it with such passion! She made my shopping experience the best I had in a very long time!!! This meant a lot to me! I bought a few outfits that day. I came back the next day for something I didn't purchase the day before and I asked Bessie about it although she was busy with other customers she was able to find the piece in no time and she too had such a pleasant demeanor! My overall experience at Akira Chicago Ridge was so awesome, I could barely put in words but I wanted to share my story..I am a very picky shopper as well. These ladies did such a great job that went above and beyond the usual customer service delivery! I had to show my appreciation! I would recommend this store to everyone! :) read more

Best service I have received in "mid-end" retail in...ever. I was greeted by Amy, who asked "what are you shopping for today?" I told her my birthday. She asked what my plans were and small talked me (assessing my need and comfort level with some of the pieces). Long story short, not only did Amy help me pick out 4 potential really cute outfits that lined up with my wants, she also made sure I never had to carry a single thing while I browsed, she set up a fitting room for when I was ready (big plus not to have to search for someone to let you in while your arm muscles slowly evaporate from the piles of clothes they're holding). Once in the fitting room, Amy checked on me every 3 to 4 minutes, complimenting or gently critiquing the outfits. Together we found the perfect one...which was way different than I originally planned. She also helped with accessories and making sure I had all I needed before I left at a good price. Now I do have a good sense of fashion...I'm not clueless with putting quality pieces together for a bomb look, but Amy really motivated me to get the best while there for a reasonable price. If I could give this place 0 stars I would literally the worst customer service EVER! 3 "employees" walked past me without a word as I waiting in line while the girl at the register was helping someone pick an outfit out. When I asked her to open another register she rolled her eyes and asked the girl she was helping to move over. She continued to roll her eyes the entire time she rang me up.....MANAGEMENT HELLLOO!!!
