AKKA Olathe Martial Arts is an incredible place for kids to learn martial arts, discipline, and self-confidence. My daughter started working with them at the age of 4, and obtained her black belt at 12. In those 8 years, I witnessed the growth in confidence and self-assurance that only comes from the type of nurturing the kids get at AKKA. The instructors are amazing--patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping each child reach their potential. My son has joined the fold as well, and absolutely loves going to class. The curriculum is well-structured, blending foundational techniques with fun and engaging activities that keep the kids motivated. I entered a random TaiChi contest from AKKA Karate Olathe on FB in December 2016; holy crap, I actually won! The next month, on a whim, when I told them I wanted to start Karate lessons as well, they didn't laugh at the thought of this delicate, almost 60 year old grandma starting a martial arts practice. Fast forward three months. . . . and I'm a gold belt! And no, this is *not* a belt factory; my estimate is 8-10 hours of combined class and home practice per week. This school is an incredible place. There are entire families practicing here, which tells me of the character and principles, and I've not met any senior belts yet who have an out of control ego or who aren't sincerely willing to help anyone who asks. Gratitude to Mr. Anthony Williams for the existence of the school, and most of all to my primary instructor, Mr. Travis Bradbury, for having the patience of a saint. So freaking excited!!! read more

A wonderful oasis of fun, fellowship and healing. When I was in KUMC, one of the first things my newly appointed Neurologist said, was that he wanted me to take Tai Chi! While still an inpatient, I reached out to AKKA and I received a welcoming text back. I had 10 Physical Therapy visits at and made no measurable progress- so I reached out to AKKA and they helped me with a series of exercises to strengthen my weak Right Leg to correct my drop foot . I know it will take time and I am so very grateful for the assistance of AKKA to help me. AKKA Olathe Martial Arts is great for kids, teens, and adults. My family has been associated with AKKA for over 20 years. 2 of my boys started first and received their black belts. Well, I could not let them get one up on me, so I joined. Next was the youngest kido, who started when he was 4 and continues to grow and thrive in the environment AKKA has developed. They believe in values (i.e. Respect, Discipline, Honesty,..), tradition of the style and art, but most of all they believe in each person (the student, the parent, the siblings, everyone who walks through the door and those who support from afar). I can not say enough good things about AKKA Karate. In the time that my daughter has been a student with them we have seen her grow so much she now has confidence that she never had. Her behavior has improved greatly. Today she said (I love going to AKKA karate I'm never going to quit) One of the best thing is they treat you like family not just some customer. AKKA has been a great addition for our son. Offering learning and discipline at the same time is what we were looking for. The instructors have been phenomenal at handling the kids which are all in the same age group but may have different skill levels allowing the kids to not only focus on improvement for themselves, but helping other kids learn too! Mr. Bradberry, Ms. Green and Mr. Clay have all shown their skills and knowledge of the sport which makes us comfortable and inspired that our child will be progressing at a pace they can handle. My son & I have been a part of the AKKA Karate Olathe family for nearly 2 years. But I just started training at the beginning of the year. I have since experienced for myself the amazing in class instruction by some pretty awesome instructors, but training doesn't stop there. I do have to say as a parent of a Junior Student (Christopher Schlem), Mr. Ryan Clay, the newest instructor, continues to inspire, educate and occasionally amuse him. Sometimes levity and connection is all it takes to bring a new level to a student-teacher relationship and I believe that Mr. Ryan Clay brings that, especially to the older Juniors and some of the younger adults. He's an excellent instructor who will only grow with time as he matures into additional belt levels. He honors the lineage of his mother and those who have gone before him. read more

I signed my 3 boys up in 2000 because I wanted them to learn self discipline and have more confidence. I joined a month later to share the experience. All 3 of my sons achieved the rank of Black Belt. One started at age 6 and earned 6 Black Belts. One earned the rank of 4th degree Black Belt. They all grew to be better men because of AKKA. They also went through the Boy Scout program. That is the 1- 2 punch of character building. I am still a student, teacher and proud member of this fine organization. read more

My boys have gained so much from going to AKKA Karate. I wanted them to gain confidence and learn self-defense and that is definitely what has happened. I did Kickboxing classes in high school with Mrs. Williams for a number of years. Everyone who works here are some of the kindest people you have ever met and they foster an environment of respect and tolerance that has been unmatched by anywhere else I've been. I have been attending Tai Chi classes at AKKA Karate USA for a few months. I really like the way my instructor Mr. Anthony Williams teaches from not only a meditative perspective but a scientific one, as well. The instructors are EXCELLENT in creating classes that engage whatever age group they work with at the time. They have classes from littles all the way to adult.
